I think it's safe to say that any/all of the new dna40 devices are experiencing some sort of issue with the exception of the XPV. We don't know if it's an issue with the boards or not? I applaud VF for delaying shipment and thoroughly testing their devices. I certainly hope VS delay is for the same reason. All the issues with preorders and shipping delays has brought me to the conclusion that I would buy a device locally from my B&M. Might take a little longer but maybe not ;) I like supporting local business plus if I have an issue they can deal with it. Might pay a little more but a lot less aggregation ;)

I was in the vs DNA30 (small) pre order. From that I learned that A. Communication from them will be all jacked up and B there will be some sort of last minute component change. So I've set my expectations on the rDNA 40 to be that I'll get mine when they send it which is sometime in the next 4-6 weeks.

I will say that once you make it through preorder hell their customer service has been stellar in my experience. And for the price and size you can beat their product.

Also these chips have been out what a whopping 2 weeks or so.

I've ordered both the XPV and the rDNA.

Considered the Flask, but I don't want two batteries. Then I would have to marry atleast two pairs of batteries if I wanted to swap them out, but I really do like the design of the Flask, so I will probably get one in the future.

I like the small size of the VS, and I ordered the XPV because I've heard good things about the mod and the customer support. Would have preferred an easier way to change batteries, but I'm decent with the soldering iron, so it shouldn't pose a problem to swap it out myself.

I wanted the form factor of the VS too. Ordered the flask but had the same consideration about pairing the batteries...until I realized I can charge it USB and never take them out and if I do, I will just write VF on them with a sharpie and charge them together...

I did buy an extra wrapped battery from Protovapor though...just so I did not need to wrap a new battery.

You will have a great experience with the XPV while you are waiting for your Shark and hopefully you will have a good experience with that too...:)

Finally dared to take my sharkskin outta the package (was afraid I couldn't return it if I even so much as touch it based on some horror stories haha)

Damn, that thing is TINY. I thought my REO grands were small but man. The rDNA is significantly smaller.

And so, I shall be patient and not cancel my order. Me likey.

Hey Shawn, what quality control issues have you encountered? curious..

I see the customer service stinks..but I want to learn more about the device itself and the issues you guys have been experiencing in terms of build quality and performance,

Sorry to take so long to reply. My DNA 30 came without issue, but I had them check it before it shipped, because the devices I saw in an authorized reseller all had issues with the placement of the DNA screen and one was resetting itself over 20 watts. I called the store to go have a look at the rDNA 30 prior to purchasing from VS, but I was told they no longer carry their products.

My rDNA 30 showed up with a paint issue on the side. It wasn't that bad, but looked like someone had hit one area on the side again with the paint discoloring the area. Again, not that big of a deal, but I would assume they would check these things like Provari does (my only exposure to expensive mods prior to my VS purchases), so that is what I have to gauge quality of these products. The other issue is that the screen was not centered. The screen was placed diagonal and the lead from the board is exposed. I have been communicating with customer service for almost a month and got a call back from the manager a couple days ago and will be contacting him in an attempt to resolve this issue. Mind you communication on these issues have been going on for some time with emails back and forth. The initial response was to have me send it back in and have it dealt with like a warranty issue, which I am not happy about, because the device came like this, but we will see how it goes.

The other issue that I had with the company was not a quality control issue, but a customer service issue. They had a Sony VTC4 listed at the time that I purchased the device. They wanted me to pay for shipping to have the Panasonic back to them to send out the Sony VTC4. This to me was unacceptable, because I purchased the device with a Sony VTC4 and the Panasonic's safety was coming into question on this forum. Finally after three weeks and speaking to three people they sent me one out, but the experience was a pain and time consuming. Things like this worry me when dealing with companies.

On the bright side, the device has fired every time I hit the button (although the paint on the button has almost been rubbed away from just hitting the button to fire it) and the size of the device is nice. The staff at VS are very nice people. For me, if this device came with the battery listed on their site and the other issues were not present, I would be a happy customer, but it didn't. I do still really like my DNA 30. We will see how the rest of my experience pans out, but I am not expecting much at this point...

I recently ordered the DNA 30 and the rDNA30. I purchased the rdna 30 on 10/10 for $189.00...within a couple days and prior to mine shipping the price dropped to $169.00...Oh Well. They lowered the price of the dna 30 to $119.00 so I ordered one. Both shipped and arrived on the same day...about 10 days later.

The little DNA 30 is flawless. Works perfectly, the screen is straight and it has zero issues.

The rDNA30 shipped with a Panasonic battery. I had read about this but they had Sony vtc4's for sale separately on the site so I added one to the order. The order arrived and the rDNA 30 looked great. I opened it up to check the battery and sure enough it has the Panasonic. The additional Sony vtc4 I ordered didn't ship but was substituted with another Panasonic. Kinda ...... me. They are fine as long as I'm not using them beyond their capabilities and I have vtc4's I can use.

rDNA 30 looked and worked great for a couple days and then I noticed the screen started to look less bright...It continued to start to fade out on the left part of the screen. I can no longer see the battery icon and only half of the ohm/volt icons. It fires just fine...The screen is nearly unreadable as of now.

I contacted Vapor Shark via email and they responded with a prepaid shipping label.

I'm sending back tomorrow. I only hope they don't say that it cannot be repaired or replaced under warranty and claim it is somehow my fault. I've read a few things about people being denied warranty. I have purposely not opened the "guts" portion of the device for fear of voiding the warranty as it is written if you open it up...warranty is voided. I've read of denied warranty claims and nothing but an expensive repair or a 20% percent off coupon for a new unit.

I had considered ordering the rDNA 40 but figured I'd wait out the preorder business and wait for the reviews to come in...since then I purchased a Genuine Hana Modz
DNA 40 device and I'm loving it.

I hope they take care of the issue and quickly as I really do like the rDNA 30.

This is their response:

"Not a recall. We are just having to do more thorough testing on units before they go out, so we've delayed shipments to resellers until early next week.

Thank You!!! Can you imagine, an answer direct from VF!!! /sar As opposed to "premature" conjecture!!!! I support their new procedure and actually welcome the delay it has caused. Let's please remember that VF assembles the device with all of it's components and a lot of glitches can occur because we are all humans. Every single component can be perfect.

I have owned a VS 30 since the second week they were introduced. My unit has been rock solid. NO issues of any kind. Perfect! Since I already have an XPV 40 which is rock solid, I'm going to wait until the dust settles (around 1/15) before I can hopefully send my VS 30 back to the mothership for a board swap to the 40.

I intend on doing the same with my RDNA.
