Then it did it again on my drive home.

That's why we have backups right?

Called customer service and was emailed a return shipping label. He said they'd ship me a new one as soon as my old one is recieved, not that I'll believe anything they tell me ever again after they lied to me twice about shipping dates and the shark skin for the rDNA40. At least I do know they have super fast turnaround on repairs from my dna30 problem.

I've heard claims of evolv saying they have a 1% board failure rate, that must be before release of the dna40. This is my second bad dna40 board. One bad vaporflask and now the VS.

Size comparison shots.

Haha I had to pay for shipping to get my flask back. And it took a TON of reminders. :p

I wonder if VS actually has replacement units avail though. If not you could be in for a loooong wait :(

Oh man. That's a bummer. I was really hoping it was going to be device specific, but I guess not. Thanks for letting us know. Hope it gets turned around quickly for you.

Son of a gun! I thought this was just flask related!

Nope. $25 includes the part (unless you broke something else as well) ...

"Service fee starts at $25 which includes labor, replacement of a single hardware component (except for DNA30D board), and return shipping."

rDNA Diagnostic - Mechs / Mods - Advanced

Yep.

Additional Replacement Component Price list:
510 Connection $7.99
USB $5.99
Fire Button $6.99
Wattage +/- Buttons $2.99
DNA30D Chip $49.99

I was thinking about picking up a dna 30 and wait a few more weeks for the DNA 40's to get sorted. Looking like a better idea now.

Everytime I see someone posting about their diy mods, I just look at them in envy, and look at myself in deep shame.
If I tried, I'll end up adding AFC options to my fingers.

lol x 2. :) Who cares if you can DIY -- you can write funny stuff! What a great comment!

Well I've now tried 3 builds with the nickel wire. 1 on the russian and 2 on the magma. I've gotten the TP pretty much immediately (1 or 2 seconds) on all three builds even down to 11watts. 2 came in .19 Ohms, and 1 @ .3 Ohms- all 3mm ID. shooting for 410 degrees. the cotton is always very clean when I pull the build apart. I'm making spaced coils on a high TPI screw and they look great, no issues with wicking and apparently no hotspots.

Out of all the toppers I've tried with the rDNA40 so far, the nautilus mini @ 12.5 watts wins for both flavor and clouds. Magma second with the .19 build - so-so vapor production and the flavor is definitely lacking. The russian is practically no flavor. Nowhere near as tasty as the nautilus mini.

seriously thinking about ditching the TP concept and going back to kanthal micro coils.

Have you built your Heron nickel? If so how did it perform? I haven't gotten around to doing mine yet.

I did! I'm waiting to post a full build with photos in the GP thread until I also verify it on a dna40 board that works

So far though, I loooove it, hasn't been burnt by a board malfunction. It's set up with a .19ohm twisted 32g wrapped around a 2mm mandrel and filled with rayon, with out the afc cap. Just two pieces of rayon sticking up above the rim to contact the fluff.

Well I guess we're just reading it differently. I take "a single hardware component (except for DNA30D board)" to include the 510, not except it.

Any rDNA users work with CNC machines? I have a question for you. I'm worried about the finish on this device after reading how fragile it was on the previous models. I don't want to use a shark skin because I'm worried about metal chips getting in the case and scratching up the finish, but do you think the coolant will ruin the finish? I want to make this my daily driver but I'm worried about the finish getting ruined by the oils and coolant used in the shop I work at. My XPV held up fine for the time I've used it but replaceable batteries and the DNA 40 in this rDNA made me put the XPV on the shelf.

We have back ups but what if our back ups are messed up??

Back to the mechs lol. I've still got a solid set of back up Paps lux's if my vaporshark dna30 and Provari ever break down.

Perseas really should start a school for modders. Consistent quality through all of their line, no real availability issues, they steadily produce their mods and attys, a countdown on the site to when the next vapourday is and what will be available, and they're remarkably affordable when you account for the outstanding quality and customer service. I wish they'd make a regulated device. I blame GP for my disappointment in companies like vaporshark. The bar has been set quite high.

Good to hear. I plan to build my Heron this weekend. Sorry about the bum screen too.

I hear you. GP has set a high standard and in all aspects of the industry.
