Hey all
I was finally able to score a Gunmetal VS rDNA 30 off the classifieds. Forgive me for not searching through the thread but, what is the preferred battery for it now?

Thanks!

VaporShark is shipping the rDNA 40s with an LG HE2 at this point. I would recommend either than or the Panasonic's.

I am running my rDNA 30 with a VTC5 in it right now....seems to work very well! :)

So after using the rDNA 40 for about a month I got the garbled screen glitch. Pulled the battery and put it back in and it hasn't happened since. Hopefully it doesn't happen again but I still plan to send it in at a later date.

Mine was glitchtastic about 2hrs into my VS journey, very sadly I put it back into the box and put it to the side and waited for a return email from VS. Today, for goofs and grins, pulled it back out and fired it up. Looked to be running along fine, tried the 40W game with it and it glitched again. Pulled the battery and tried again, vaped for a bit and went again with the 40W push and no glitch. So far after that, no problems

Like you, I'm still going to send it back, pretty sure it's not supposed to do that ever!!!

Quick update. Used my 30ga kanthal and 30ga ni200.

Here's the build. 9 wraps around 3/32. Deliberately done to copy my previous build with 28ga NI instead

Came up to 0.51 ohm

After juicing and wicking it dropped to 0.34 on ohm meter, 0.33 on my rdna40

First round of vaping settings are at: 17 watts, 450F. Horrendous vape. Wattage surged to 39.9 W for 2 secs, super loud crackling, but poor vapor production.

Observed that temperature hovers and stops at around 290F. This is compared to the 28ga Ni + 30ga kanthal build which hovered around 390F. Overall it was just a very bad vape.

Second round: tuned TP down to 330F, still at 17W. Wattage spikes up to 22W for 1 sec and throttles down to 17 W. Temperature still hovers around 290F.

Here's the kicker: super good vapor production, flavor and everything is awesome.

Conclusion: no bloody idea hahahahahahahaha

KTM, no shark today??

Nope. Still sitting at the hub. Usually, when a package gets to my hub, it would move to my PO overnight sometime but it's still sitting there. All day. I did get my 28g Ni200 wire, 12mm buttons for my Hana clones and the replacement Erlk clone base with 4 extra screws (6 total!) today.

Wow...was just going to place an order for an rDNA 40 too.....glad I saw this in time as I am definitely going to wait now!! Thanks for relaying this!! :)

I had a feeling they were gonna have a sale for black friday but I thought it'd only be 10% so I just ordered last week. Maybe I'll pick up a DNA 30 for $96.

There ya go!! Yeah that's a smokin' deal any way you slice it!! :)

Now I have a question, and excuse my ignorance on the subject. I have been happily chugging along with my rDNA 30, so I have admittedly not been paying att'n to all the goings on with the rDNA 40. I was just curious if they've ironed out all the bugs with the DNA 40? In other words, is there still a chance that someone ordering an rDNA 40 might potentially get a suspect board?

I apologize; I'd probably know this if I were paying attention!! My guess is that if they're selling them, then they must've taken care of all the issues....

It hasn't been ironed out yet. Evolv supposedly is shipping v3 DNA 40 boards late last week or this week that resolves the problems. If you have an issue with the board, VS will replace it. If they won't, Evolv will. Either way, you're covered.

Cool, yeah I have no doubt that VS (and Evolv) will be there for me....I was amazed at how helpful and responsive VS was when I had an issue with my rDNA 30. Fixed it under warranty no questions asked (and I bought it on ebay)....It's the primary reason I want to give them more of my business! Their cust service (IMO anyway) is excellent.

Well, I ordered knowing I'll probably have to RMA it. As I posted before, I'm looking forward to my future replacement
