I don't know what you mean when you say "without the insulator installed." Did I miss something in the thread? Also - what do you think is causing the flavor to not be as good as in previous Kayfuns? Is that only with the nickel build?

Yep, within less than 24 hrs I lost the bottom insulator. I've found the kayfun still works fine without it if you are careful. I'm not sure about the flavor issues yet.

rDNA arrived today. It was a pre-order from Vapemail in Toronto. I only mention this because someone posted about waiting on theirs from the same store. It has the Celsius functionality and the zip charge feature, but still has the regular screen and I don't think it has the reverse polarity buzzer (forgive me for not testing). I had built a 28.5mm Stillare dual coil, hand wrapped around 3mm Ekowool. Forgot the ga of nickel I used but it came out to 0.18. Holy #@%$*, 2 hits of 24mg at 40 watts and I am high as a kite. Here is a pic of the 28.5 on the rDNA for anyone curious.

Hey Kiwi, could you post some more photos of how you're wicking your Erl? I'm having a devil of a time with mine. Either dry hits (probably too much wick in the channels) or leaking (probably too little wick in the channels). So I'm sort of at a frustrating standstill with mine.
And I don't have any other devices that look as snazzy on my glas clone.

You just saved me $20! Thanks!

You know what's screwed up? I haven't benefited from any of the codes I've been posting. I paid full price for my rDNA 40 ($189) and the holiday pricing for the DNA 30 ($99). I think if I was even slightly disappointed with the devices, I'd have some regret but these are so awesome. I kinda wish I had the bigger screen but I'm ok with what I have (need to say that a few more times so I believe it )

Hmm. Would these help? I find rayon to work WAAAY better.

Trim the tails to be flush with the edge of the wick "ledges"

In the previous step, I chop off 80 to 90% of the tail, but leave a tiny tiny and really thin piece for the juice channel

I'm super tempted to pick up a DNA30 as well for a backup device, but I'm trying to hold out for the MVP3 to see what Innokin can come up with.

Yep, those help me out a LOT. A REAL lot! I'm using rayon too. Went rayon and never went back.

I meant to also ask if you use the little round washer-type "wick guide" thing. I don't see where it's really doing anything but I've been leaving it in there just....because.

Naw. I lost it within 15 mins of opening up my box hehehe

Just do it :p

Seriously, the DNA 30 is a pretty neat little device. I'm still surprised how small it really is even after looking at pics. With the code, it's $90 shipped.

Is the backlog unwinding from the BF sale now? I'm looking for a new mod, but don't want to end up waiting a month or more. The rDNA40 is my first choice, but it's not the *only* choice.
FWIW, I also picked up a $50 IPV Mini at elev8vape while I wait for my rDNA40 to come in from VS.

I really need to give rayon a try. I finally broke down my kayfun last night to re-wick/re-coil. I had put approximately 30-35 mls through it and the coil and wick were super gunky. I should have taken pictures. KGD works great but I just don't like the coil gunk aspect. Plus with the ni200 I can't dry burn it so I have to rebuild pretty much every time I re-wick.

Rayon is awesome. It's my wicking material of choice. :)

I set TP to 600F and dry burn.
The trick is getting the old wick out, and not mangle the coil.
