Possible bad form to reply to my own post but I ran into an issue. Built a .26 NI200 coil on 28 guage and all was good for a bit. 420f and all was good. I started to notice the vapor would get warmer then normal and when I checked, it had switched itself into Voltage mode. Only way to get Temperature back was to pop the battery and reset it. It would hold on Temp for a bit and then right back to Volts. I took it in to Mountain Oaks Vapor in Oviedo (GREAT bunch of guys there) and they swapped it out agreeing it was an issue. Got the new one and it did it almost immediately!

How many tanks of juice had you run thru the lemo on that build? I have 2 lemos and the VS rDNA40. Happend to me once just like you described on a similar ohm build. My bet is you are vaping a particularly "gunky" juice and the ohms are jumping way up causing the device to think you may have a kanthal build on it.

Just my thought

Just got off the phone with Vapor Shark. No more orders shipping out until the beginning of the year.

For me, that's great news since I won't be in town and don't want someone to steel it.

Well I just ordered an Erlkonigin from them. Does this mean it won't ship till after new years I wonder? That would kinda suck. Was hoping to have it by Xmas!! Wishful thinking I suppose.....

i think its just for the vaporshark 40s, they must be waiting on a new shipment. If the products you ordered they ship, i ordered a few things from them recently and they still ship normally.

Hrmm...It was a contact coil but it was a very good strong connection. I was building on a Lemo and I had it centered in the holes. And I was thinking the same thing so I went it and made sure everything was tight. Well hell. I knew I should have came here first....
Oh, and it was the Vaporshark rDNA40.

Brandon was answering a question about a DNA 40 mod not recognizing a Kanthal build in this Vapour Trails TV interview starting at 53:31. However, even given the fact that your symptoms are different the underlying cause of your woes is more than likely the same. The DNA40 chip needs to be necessarily much more finicky about resistance changes from connections and builds than the other chips we are used to using because the chip uses those minute changes to calculate temperature.

Since MOV was so nice you might want to return the favor and send them the link to Brandon's interview which contains quite a bit of useful information. There is a high chance that they have pulled properly functioning rDNA40s.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the battery level indicator on these is useless???? Just wondering

I included a quote from Vapor Shark about the rDNA40 battery meter in this post. Basically, in temperature protection mode the meter calculates remaining battery life using the amount of power that is being used when you release the firing button. If temperature protection has reduced your watts to a low level the remaining battery life showing will be wildly optimistic. To get a more accurate reading take a short draw and let up on the firing button while still inhaling. That should give you a reading more closely based on the power you are actually using.

I am not using it in temperature mode..... This is happening with a regular kanthal build

I opened a ticket with USPS (after a 30-40 minute wait on the phone). USPS Rep was really nice. She said someone will be calling me about it once they investigate. I tried not to laugh but we all know what that means (lol). She also said "it might still be in transit even though it's received no scans," confirming what you've said here. Takehome message to all of you VS orderers out there: for the love of God, consider paying more for upgraded shipping. After the 30 day wait with VS the last thing you're going to want is a +10 day wait from the US Postal Service.

Ok - even though my shipping info said that the device was still in Florida, it arrived in my mailbox today. Some useful info for some of you out there who might eagerly check your shipping info seeing no progress .. not sure what the cause of that was but I'm happy to have my device.

Mine's doing this with a Kanthal build currently, it seems. Slapped in a battery that was not fully charged when the device arrived. The battery is showing full even though I've been chain vaping it for 30 minutes. That's probably not accurate. I'll report back as I use it more.

Edit: I'm only firing it at 10 watts. If this is the "low wattage" range maybe that's the reason.. not that I think that's an excellent design strategy. I'm just happy to have it in my hands. It'd have to take a literal poop on me before I send it back anytime soon.

I've been right there with you through all the frustration since we started posting about the delays. It can't come quickly enough for those of us who have been waiting all this time. Best of luck to you in getting it ASAP.

Anyone able to use the code "HOHOHO" to order? I tried it just now but it doesn't seem to work. Wondering if there is a minimum purchase required to use it.

I don't know why it wouldn't work but here's the e-mail for the promo...

Always showing full so you think you have unlimited vape time??

if im out and about and i see battery level getting low (i vape at 30 watts) i just lower the watts and bam instant battery life. you are running lower watts so it show full level way longer or maybe you have a defective battery indicator. next time you have 14 hours on your battery bump your watts up to 40 and see what your battery indicator does.

Just built my first successful ni200 coil on my Odin RDA. The thing kicks clouds! I used the same 9/8 wrap twisted 30 gauge coil that I've been using in my kayfun. VS is reading a steady .14 ohms. Makes sense that it is a little higher since I have longer legs compared to my kayfun build. I can fire this thing all the way up to 40 watts and TP does not kick in. Never built a single coil dripper before but I'm now converted. The rdna continues to amaze me. :)

Fresh coil and my own DIY juice

Hammer, try to lower your ohms a bit and double check that your connections are very secure. I think the lemos vary from piece to piece. I have one that is rock solid from build to build, the other one I have has given me some different readings thruout the day.

When you break down your build after seeing the problems, how does your coil look?

Hope you get it working, after a little tweeking and making sure everything in snug, it really does work like a charm. I also notice it seems to work a little better with higher W!
