im a spiritual being and i want my damn rdna40 shipped already.
I live by Lake Erie and it's always humid. I suffered the same fate as you as mine started peeling after a few days us using it. Vaporshark also did not honor a warranty exchange or refund. Although, I like the polished look but I wonder how possible would it be to repaint it without taking it apart. So as stated earlier in the thread "I treasure my mods" and look after them as best i can. Due to living in a humid climate, this is what happened after a few months of use with a shark skin:
In my opinion this damage was beyond my control and i thought VS would have thought the same and possibly refinished it for me, or at least put a warning up that their device suffers in certain climates... they did none of this. I sent them an email with photos explaining the situation, this was their reply:
"The damage to the paint on your device is due to the nicotine in the e-liquid corroding the paint. It can also be due to the humid conditions in your area (the only other time I have seen this issue arise is in coastal areas where the salt from seawater can lead to damage). The paint is not covered by our 4 month warranty and I can verify that this kind of damage is not due to any QC situation.
-Victor"
So i guess i will offer a warning to those that live near coastal waters in humid conditions - dont purchase the VS until they work out a suitable means of painting their devices.
I decided to rectify the situation myself, still needs some work, but here it is so far.

It looks like the problem is not the coating itself but a problem with adhesion to the alloy case. VS is I believe an aluminum alloy. Aluminum is noted for paint adhesion problems. Not saying you couldn't do better but it's going to take some effort, a manufacturer should do better. I believe the rDNA 40 uses a different coating.
Interesting. Unfortunately none in my area

Has anyone received theirs from the Cyber Monday sale? I can be patient, just curious.
I'm disappointed as well. It's built so nice. This is what they told me after I asked them about the paint chipping:That does look pretty cool. I'm disappointed that VS didn't step up. Kind of a BS excuse. Maybe powder coat? Anodizing? Cerakote?
My DNA30 has the exact same finish as my rDNA40.
I wonder if they knew about this.
I'll HAVE to look into them working my XDM. Thanks for the option.Paint issues seem to be a pretty well known issue so on the VS so id assume so.
Cerakote is absolutely one of the better options, dont know why they dont do...oh wait yes I do, it isnt cheap in comparison.
I love Cerakote though, done enough of my guns to know how awesome it is.
