So what is the longest time before someone had a screen glitch? A few days, a week, 2-3 weeks, a month? Just trying to get an idea of how long till I can feel safe.

My first rDNA40 glitches after 24 hrs.

I've had mine for over two months now with no issues (that I've noticed), but I'm not sure how much that helps! It seems, from what I've seen, that people either see the screen glitch in the first week or two, or they have a good unit. For me, I've assumed (correct or not), that I have a solid unit. So long as I don't jinx it :)

Well its been 24hrs and I'm getting the scrambled screen already. :-x

Also, and this didn't happen with the last shark, every now and then when I press the fire button from sleep mode the screen shows 00.0W then blinks off for a second, comes back on and jumps up and settles on the 12W I have it set to.

I'm waiting a week or so this time before I send it back. I want to make sure I get a bigger jump in the made on date. This one was made only 1 1/2 weeks from when the last scrambled screen one was made.

So I got a package in the mail today....... that I didnt know I was going to receive as I have not ordered anything recently. Required signature confirmation so when I opened the door, signed for the package and looked at the senders address it said "vaporshark".

In my mind I was like.....wait I didnt order anything from them...considering i already have a rdna40, what could I have possibly ordered?

Then this happend :

Er25Sj3.jpg

Later on I rang my GF and told her what happened. She said that entire night I was going on about how I needed a white one to match my black one, while being extremely drunk. She said i threw my wallet in front of my computer, purchased, closed my browser and knocked out on the floor.

Moral of the story : Online shopping while intoxicated is dangerous.

I said that exact same thing in Vegas once. I ended up knocked out on the floor too. But it wasn't a pair of mods I ordered. :)

So I bought some titanium wire http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D62AHWU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and tried a few coils. My latest is 24g 8 wraps on 2.5mm bit. I dry-fired and compressed the coil till it was heating correctly and wicked it with rayon. I am running Boba's at 24w with a Kayfun Undead. I have the temp set at 340 which feels about like 450 with nickel.

The wire is SO MUCH EASIER to work with and contact coils seem to work well. No idea if dry-burning is a good idea but I plan to do it anyway. Really digging it so far I don't see myself going back to nickel.

Heespharm....the replacement unit I received a week ago just did this scrolling thing. I removed the batt and put it back in and it quit scrolling (for now anyway). Wondering what your outcome was??? Date inside batt bay Feb 2.

Guess the saga continues!!

just curious if everyone who owns a rdna40 is happy with their battery life?

For some reason I am getting maybe 6 hours out of 1 battery before I get "Weak battery" message. I have been vaping @ 400F @ 22 watts with the stock red LG battery.

Does anyone else also feel that if you dont use the device for a pretty good amount of time...say like 5-6 hours, the battery drains while the device is supposedly in sleep mode?

I feel like my pre warranty device could last 20+ hours. But then again it wasnt working properly and was throttling power all day so I would imagine thats why.

Just curious what kind of battery life other owners are getting.

I will say I am thus far not impressed with the battery life. The vape I'm getting is excellent though. I would say the battery life is not any better than my mechs which does not make sense. I'm running my rDNA 40 in much lower watts than what my mechs would be at with the same ohm coil. Also this mod definitely eats the batt over night. BS! My batt meter is now dropping and I'll be on my 3rd 18650 battery before the nights over. I've put 8ml tops through it today. I'm delighted with everything else but this can't be right. If so it is sub par for $190.

yeah sounds about the same as me. I go through around 2 1/2 recharges per day.

I am wondering if battery life would change by charging the batteries on a standalone charger like an xtar vp1 / vp2, not USB.

,
SO.......bad news about the 2nd vaporshark I just got.

JMxeyMI.jpg

Less than 6 hours actual use. Born on date : 2/3

Wierd thing is after I put it in stealth mode and back, it has been working fine for about 45 minutes. Should I be concerned?

Same born date as my replacement. Same screen issue inside the first 24hrs. With that 30 day wait I'm not to eager to send it back. May just report it and see about waiting to return it when their stock improves.

Unplugged it at 4:30am. It's now 12:20am. So that's what, 20 hours later. Running 0.11-0.18 ohm atty's at 12W and 420 degrees. I use it randomly while I'm working and pretty consistently outside of work. Picture shows battery life remaining.

Man... This is disappointing! Making me lose a little faith in Evolve here. It was OK with me when it was the early 40 boards, but we're supposed to be under the assumption all is well again here... But vaporshark even had to throw up the 30 days again...

Are people with vapor flasks/etc having these same issues I assume as well?

Okay so I am officially ....... This device, generally speaking, is incredible. When it performs, it outperforms anything I've ever used before and is really just awesome.. But as these small, transient glitches - a rich, unwanted *bouquet* of them - crop up, I'm beginning to lose my cool.

From the shipping time to the temperature control being wonky to the battery life being terrible and unrealistic to the battery indicator being useless to the screen going scrambled until I remove and replace the battery to the matte finish being sub par to the eventual screen condensation due to wireless charging.... Good lord. I really hadn't realized there were even so many issues with mine until I just typed that out. I mean, I sent back my Segelei 100W due to its button rattling a little.

I'm just going to keep this question simple; this thread seems to be full of people who know their stuff and can commiserate with this madness, frustration and disappointment: What do I do?? $230 (w/ sharkskin and wireless charger) just blows my mind how this thing made it through beta testing.. I feel as though I'd be capable of more comprehensive QC if I'd taken a whole bunch of hallucinogenic drugs after sustaining head trauma.

God, this thread is depressing. You guys have me scared to death about receiving my rDNA. I'm considering canceling my order and just going with a vapor flask, although the DNA40 has some problems there as well but don't seem to be anywhere as widespread. I'm really hoping it's just because the ones with faulty ones are more vocal, but I'm not really sure if that's the case. I don't know how VS is making any money when they're dealing with all of these faulty chips. If the return rate was so high, you'd think they would just ditch the chip until it was perfect. I'd buy a cheaper VS without the temp control that was using something like the YiHi chip.

I think I just grew to overcome these troubles and am super thankful I don't have such chaotic issues.

Battery meter is wonky sometimes but if I settle on a particular build and stick to it, the meter does work relatively accurately. Like 100/75/50/25/0.

The matte finishing...I use the vaporskin. But finishing like this is definitely bound to not last as it is just a coating after all. Other devices even outside mods don't have a lasting matte coating.

Never had problems with condensation with wireless charging.

Temp control works great, once you've the coil and wick set up properly.

I'm thankful I got the big screen that is fully functional with no problems, though mine was the initial big screen batch.

I won't recommend this device to others though, with the recent QC problems. Definitely go with the vaporflask or BAP40.

It kinda sucks to know your clone vaporflask40 functions perfectly better than your authentic rDNA 40...

Yeah I've heard good things about the clone chips. I'd really like it if VS switched over to the new YiHi temp controlled chip coming out. It would probably solve all their issues. It feels like Evolv just can't handle manufacturing their chips, I've never heard of such bad QC and this widespread of issues before.

I'm curious if the new HCigar authentic DNA40 mod will have the same issues as the VS. It's much cheaper, and looks to be just as nicely built. But I'd be worried about their service and warranty if I ever did have an issue.

i think at this point anyone who buys a VS rdna40 is and will be playing roulette. If you get a good unit, then awesome, it is a great experience. If you dont then be prepared to have the device warrantied multiple times. Probably more transit time in the post than actual use time until you get a working unit.

Makes me wonder why im sitting here with two lol.

I also want to say that obviously they pushed their 10 day processing to 30 day because of chinese new year. (made in china???)

A speculation I have as to why vaporshark is really the only one with screen issues is because I read somewhere they use a custom board. Zip charging, wireless charging etc... all those add-ons have to be doing something wonky to the board.

I have 2 rdna40s. Both work great. No screen issues (from the cyber Monday batch). I don't charge them wirelessly nor through the USB port - just switch out the batteries because my stand alone charger is much more efficient at charging 18650s. I did get 2 vaporskinz wraps for them because I don't like the shark skins too much - the mods are wobbly when you put them down on the table and their profile is not as sleek as without the skins. As an alternative, Chels mini-cig (microstick mech mod maker) is coming out with a dna40 mod - I will definitely buy one of those.

I'm wondering if swapping batteries all the time is having the same effect as pulling the battery after it glitches. It stops it for a while. At least that's what I understand from reading these posts. I might try that myself. I've been using, at least while I've actually had it in my possion, the usb charger. Only because I don't have the proper 18650's and it's easier then pulling the skin every night. I'm about to order two batteries so I will be rotating and only using the usb when I have too. If pulling the battery stops the screen issue, even if just for a while, then swapping batteries daily should stop it from happening at all. I'm guessing.
