Holy crap!
I know what I'll be using in my tree stand next deer season!
If they don't come to me.... I'll send my drone out to find them. :D

Hmmm.... Wonder if I could rig something up to light and drop little M80's from one of those puppies.

I got my Nova the day they came out. Unfortunately I was not able to try mine untill today. After my experience with that gosh awful taste in my Phoenix I am a little paranoid so I went ahead and washed all 3 heads before I even thought about using them.

While I had them apart I went ahead and pulled the "extra" wick out. I also "fluffed" the wick as recommended in another post here. As well as pulling a few strands out (this was not intentional) lol.

Then using a dremel I sanded down the bottom pin hicky-doodger until it was flush with outside portion.

Put everything back together, filled with dragons blood and put it on my LT. I tried at several differnt volts - Sighhh The flavor was very muted.

Is there anything else anyone has come up with to increase the flavor so that I may salvage these heads? Rewicking/recoiling is not an option for me (I am not that far along yet in my vapeing adventure.) Yes, yes I know new heads will be available before long but I am hopeing to salvage the ones I have as well.

Don't assume they don't work until after you have tried them first... many have had heads that work perfectly fine without any changes or mods... I have two out of the three in fact that didn't need a thing done to them. They will typically require a bit of a breakin period to get more flavor... but again, even this varies... if after a tankful you don't start getting good flavor, then start looking for a possible solution.

Try putting the "extra" wick thread back in. Also, do give them time to break in - sometimes, apparently, they take quite a long time but do get somewhat better eventually.

I just got my Novas in the mail. First thing I did was measure the resistance of all three heads. 1.8 measured 2.7, 2.4 measured 3.2 and the 2.8 measured 3.9 with a Fluke precision voltmeter. Wow. Off by quite a bit. I used the 1.8 and filled it with my 75/25 TW Black Label Carmel 18mg all day vape, same juice that was in my Vision Stone 3 on my Diamante VV. I replaced the VS3 with the Nova on the Diamante. I see what people mean by muted flavor. Basically almost no flavor. Its a little strange, almost like you can't tell you are inhaling any vapor. I think the vapor cools down a lot more than on the VS3.

Undeterred I re-wicked the 2.8 using Lord Davon's method with wick and wire from COV. Hats off to LD for his video because I did my first re-wick in a few minutes with no problems whatsoever (except for having to use 3X reader glasses). I used a paper clip instead of a needle and 4 wraps gave me 2.7 ohms. I refilled the nova using some FlavourArt Desert Ship (at 10% flavor) which I never used because the flavor was always too strong in the VS3. At 4.5V the flavor is definitely there and the vapor volume is only slightly less than my VS3. So I'm very happy. I think the vapor volume will increase as the coil breaks in. The simple solution for the muted flavor issue may be to just pump up the flavor percentage (at east for the DIY'ers).

The awesome part of the Nova is NO GURGLE and NO DRY HITS no matter what position the tank is in. This is much better than the Stone tanks that usually required fiddling to get them gurgle-free.

Being the tinkerer that I am I will have a lot of fun playing around with wire, wick and juice combinations.

Oh, and for you R/C enthusiasts out there my avatar is my Sebart Sukhoi electric plane. Lots o fun...

No, no, NO! Hats off to you! I see people flying their planes and heli-chopters (that's what I call mine) upside down all the time. When I try that, I crash! Just amazing!

Glad the CoV wick and coil are working for you. That's what I am using in mine. I've also used the wick and coil from GV. Both do an awesome job, but the GV stuff is free, so it gets the nod. :D

Anyone rebuild these atty heads with kanthal wire and better silica wicks? Im talking about a full dissassemble and re wrap with kanthal and nr wire?

I have also heard of people drilling hole in the wick channel? Anyone?

I have completely rebuilt with both Kanthal and Nicrome wire and used the factory wicks as well as my own. It vapes like a freakin steam engine, no taste at all on mine though.

I'm just patiently waiting on the arrival of the new heads.

Switched to another head - 2.4ohm....Getting very close to the same amount of flavor from it as I did the one I modded. I will keep this head on all day tomorrow while I am at Carowinds. I just hope I don't destroy it or my LT while there lol.

I will try this on the one i messed with after tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

Regardless I am looking forward to getting some of the new heads. If nothing else the olds will become part of my first attempt at rebuilding

Yep, I'm the same way. I have two heads that I want to tinker with, from my first pack. I've watched so many videos and read so many messages about re-building them that I am actually getting excited about it. Want to see if cotton actually works as a wick...

Yeah I have read for hours on end here on ECF. I am only a few months into vapeing so I am not ready to dive into all the moding just yet. I will tinker a little here and there but that is about it. Just got my first VV (a LT) and not really as happy with it as I thought I would be. My first goal is to find a complete set up that works the best for me as well as 5 or 6 all day juices. Found 2 so far and have tested many..lol

Not trying to hijack this thread so back on topic - do we have an ETA on the new heads? I am also looking forward to GV getting the new phoenix 3ml in.
