Well, see, if you make your own juice, that's a different story - you can tailor it to your equipment preference then. I guess I understand better now. I tried DIY, but just couldn't get into it. It's fascinating to me in principle, but in practice I don't have the patience to wait for juices to steep, only to find out I don't like the variant, and have to dry again, changing percentages drop by drop... At this point, I'd rather have someone else do the work - though I occasionally tweak an "almost perfect" liquid by mixing pre-made ones here and there.
Plus, it sounds like you like more subtle flavor, judging from percentages.
My taste buds are a little weak, and I am always afraid to not get enough flavor. Plus, I'm ridiculously picky with my juices - once I find something I love, I stick with it. Currently, my standard favorite mix is 50/50, though some I like only come in VG. Different mix proportions do change the flavor somewhat, quite aside from strenth...
You are right, different people have different experiences. There is probably a reason as to why yours is different than mine re flooding, but it would take forever to figure out - too many variables.
As to why I am not particularly keen on fooling around with long wicks... Short ones work great for me, so why change? I suppose flavor can always get better, though it's hard to imagine with the Stardust - I should try a long wicked one and compare it side-by-side, just for an experiment.
For all the CE2s I have tried, none of them compare to the Stardust in flavor - I actually recently ran a side-by-side comparison with Visions Extreme, the Fluxo, and the standard non-branded CE2. There is just no comparison. I can taste nuances with the Stardust that are just not there in the others, and the flavor is cleaner, more balanced, and stronger. For me, anyway. The only clearo that compares to the Stardust in flavor, imho, is the bc Phoenix (haven't tried the tc Phoenix yet) - and that only with certain juices that taste strong to begin with at low temp, otherwise I get that strange "botton coil" flavor that I'd rather do without.
Another reason is that the short wicks look cute. OK, I'm a *girl*. A 51 yo girl, but still a girl. LOL
I might try the long wick once the ViVi comes out, I suppose, and see if it works for me. I can always cut it down later.
Bottom line, though, is that getting them with long wicks is more flexible: will make people like you happy, and people like me can cut them down and be happy. Everyone happy, it's all good.

Briar, I hear you but I still disagree. From my experience with longer wicked clearos when you trim the wicks you actually sacrifice flavor. two to five drops (depending on bottle size of course) of dw or pga is not going to dilute your juice to the point where its watered down or cause substantial flavor loss, but it is enough to make a juice wick better.
I work in all vg, except for flavorings. I make my own juice so maybe its easier for me to tailor it to my taste. Mind you, Im not adding more than 10-15% flavoing in most of my juices. Most often its under 8%. And I never add more flavor to a finished juice.. only dw if it needs to wick better and I never have had the flavor suffer as a result.
If you have no wicking issues with your juices thats a good thing, but that also means you should be getting even better flavor with longer wicks. Why people want them cut is beyond me.
Either way Im glad we will have the option to do as we like. Different strokes for different folks. Once we have them try two of the same ohms heads. One with long wicks, one short, with the same jukce and I think you'll see.
As far as why they flood on me like that I dont know. Ive read and read, done everything including reduce the juice level and blow them out and they still act up. I so find they perform slightly better on VV but not much. Plus the hassle of eolling and tilting is just a pita. Long wicks draw on their own if the juice is right. Hence why I said, fix the juice if its not wicking right.
Stardusts and the ce2 micromizers from mit are the only ones that ever flood on me. Stardust top coil, micromizer bottom coil... go figure.
