Does the v2.5 have an issue with cracking tanks due to cinnamon/citrus juices? Thinking about getting a juice with lemon/lime flavors, wanna make sure it's safe to use without the metal tank.

Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2

I have had hot cinnamon in mine for a week, with no problems.

I still havent done my cracking test. I know I promised to and havent forgotten but I have no more cash right now to buy parts. I do have two metal tanks but I dont want to part with the one clear tank I have right now. As soon as GV starts selling just the plastic tanks by themselves, or I can afford a couple more 2.5's Ill get to crackin.... literally.

I got a juice mix that can crack this baby in ten minutes, and if that doesnt do it nothing will. Safe to vape... i think ... but atomic hell on plastic. I dont normally like to go all mythbusters on my gear but in this case itd be fun. I just gotta be able to afford it... lol.

Oh and if those cracks on the stardust are along the base on the bottom and look hairline in appearance its from expansion of the silicone seal at the bottom of the tank where the plastic and metal meet, not your ultrasonic cleaner.

That part cracked me up. argh argh Ok, well the rest of it did too, but particularly that part. I sure hope it's safe to vape. Out of curiosity, have you used this juice in the phoenix's? Someone else said they put a fairly lethal juice in them and they worked great. I'm new enough to this that I don't even know if I have any plastic crackin juice, but I've been really cautious about what I put in my older style stardust just in case.

The initial ones are, that I believe. The first run, when the base wasn't so tight into the tube (you could actually take it apart by hand), didn't have those cracks, if I recall correctly. Why they tightened those tubes and caused those cracks, I'll never know. But I suspect that the cleaner aggravates the cracks by vibrating the carto. It may be a coincidence that I put in a few Stardusts with really small cracks that didn't leak, and afterwards during the next fill some of them developed leak - or it may not be. I don't know. But I think it's a reasonable suspicion...

Well, learned something new about the vivi today. Two things, really:

1. If you are using a dark syrupy juice, it's definitely worthwhile to change the head in-between refills. It's real easy, after all. As it was, on my second fill of this really great dark RY4, it started tasting burnt and not wicking well. I opened it up, and saw the biggest, cruddiest black ball where my coil should have been. Yuck. I foresee much soaking and vibrating for this one.

2. Which brings me to the second point. It is quite possible to change heads "on the fly", as long as the level of the juice is below the line of attachment. I took off the hat, and used my fingernail as a screwdriver using the wick notches. Worked like a charm. Of course, one could use an actual screwdriver, too, but what's the fun in that? :D

Note to self: higher voltage vaping grows crud faster; and once you taste burning juice, that means the juice is actually burning and spoiling what's in the tank - the taste will never be the same again, durn it; what a waste. Duh.

Note to self #2: been having too much fun with those Twists and the iTaste - time to clean at least 20 of the 35 Stardust lest they also grow a ball of crud.

Norman, Ok
All of my favorite juices are dark and will crude up a coil within a tank full... My RY4 will go just beyond a tank worth before it gets a bit too crudy, usually the flavor drops off when that happens on mine .... either way, I just clean after each tank with any of the 3-4 juices that I vape regularly.

My other desert, fruit and drink flavored juices don't do this but I only get in the mood for them on rare occasion.

Well I cleaned and started using my V2.5 last night, 2.4 head with my reg menthol vape. I am really happy with this tank ( Yay:rickroll:, . Loving the fact that all I need to do is unscrew cap and fill and obviously it will be easy changing heads, so happy now. I really should not do this right now, my husband might be a bit upset when the bills come in but I really, really need at least 2 more of these so I am going to order some now. I think I am going to have to be extra nice to him for awhile now. Hopefully my extremly hormonal brain will work with me on that, lol , I have become very scary at times even to myself lately. I just love this wonderfull time in life ( that would be mid-life ), there are times I think I have turned into cybill from that really scary movie, ya know when she is possesesed by the devil.

You guy's have been great, thank's again for helping out :)

lol Samsun, I think we all feel that way sometimes. Sybil wasn't in the exorcist though, she had multiple personality disorder and was played by Sally Field, and was based on a real person's story. Linda Blair played the girl who's head spun around and she puked up pea soup in the Exorcist. That was indeed a freaky movie.

When i used to buy a particular RY4 it would crud up my coil in no time and i would actually use a needle to carefully break it lose and do the dry burn and watch some parts still glow red then carefully break some more off and dry burn until i could see the coil itself then rinse the residue off complete from the part that the coil sits in otherwise it would give a burn taste .

Now i mix myself instead of buying several types of RY4 and notice they do not crud up nearly as fast as before and my mixes are not as dark yet taste better and save me a ton of money. ; )
70pg/30vg i vape and it works excellent in the viv nova 2 and 2.5 my 2 vivi nova 1st versions are now in trash .

Deb I havent tried that juice in a phoenix yet. Ill mix up some and do so tho for the heck of it. My guess, looking at the type of plastic on the phoenix is that it wont crack from juices. Its usually the very clear plastics that will crack.

Personally, the phoenix cracking isnt a problem for me. Getting it filled right is. At least the 3ml. I had one full leak out of the bottom all over a battery. Cleaned and filled again and its fine this time. Its just so random.

Briar, I agree on the ultrasonic making cracks worse. It just makes sense that it would. Guess when, and if, you start seeing that on the tubes its best to just rinse and dry them. I dont think youd really need to ultrasonic the tubes tho for most tanks. Rather just the attys/metal parts.

Oh and how about the wonderfull night sweats and hot flashes, I have been going thru , well you get what I mean. I feel like I am just going to melt away one day and hubby is gonna come home and find me in a puddle on the floor. That's ok though, he can just put me in the freezer and leave me there for the next 10 years or how ever long this last. That is now that the huge spider is out of there and now a huge splat in the road lol lol, I would not even let my husband do it in my yard. Know really, I am sorry that you have to go thru all this too, but your right at least we know where not alone. :)
