For you Nova vets, how often do you clean the heads? I have the V2.5 version with the long wicks and its preforming very nicely. I've cleaned it before, and am just about at the end of a third tank. I don't think it needs a cleaning now before I refill, but then again I'm thinking I should just to preserve its longevity. On that note, assuming I don't pop a coil, how long should I expect these to last?
Entirely depends on the thickness of the juice. I was vaping a Chocolate Mint from LF (a very syrupy liquid) and it clogged up every other tank. I was unable to save a head that went through 5 tanks without cleaning, ended up dismantling it to check to see if it had a non-resistance wire and will rebuild it later. Anyway, easy way to check is to just screw top off, pop off the silicone top, then look at the coil. If it's gunked, clean it, otherwise you should be good to go for a bit longer.
As with everything else, how long depends on care, caution, liquid, and usage. I'm going on 2 weeks on my current head, but the one I used a syrupy liquid on only went a few days. If you just buy the parts to rebuild it you don't have to worry about it much, just keep a few pre-wound wicks/coils around to throw into the head quickly. Costs about $0.10 to repair one, much easier to just rebuild than to obsess about cleaning imo.
