Ok so again, 2 weeks of vaping, and every now and then when i am at the gym i get so short of breath that I have to sit and focus on breathing, doesn't always happen though, maybe 2nd time this morning, even now at home im still out of breath. first of all how i am vaping currently:
vamo, vivi nova, 2.4 ohms, was vaping at 4.2v usually, upped it to 4.8, then back down to 4.4. using a 70/30 pg/vg RY4, 20nic (usually use 24nic)
but here is the funny part, i weight trained and studied multiple martial arts for years, while being a heavy smoker (1.5-2 packs a day) and NEVER got this short of breath, only now that i switched to vaping, does anyone have any ideas why? is it the pg/vg mix? getting used to breathing properly after 10+ years? if I have to quit vaping cause of this i'll be very upset.
please give me some ideas :-(
When I first began vaping I immediately made an appointment with my Dr cuz I wanted him to know that I had quit smoking and, more importantly, had begun vaping. Although not schooled in Vaping he gave me many good factual tips. I also spoke with his smoking cessation expert who really impressed me with her openness and knowledge. It was nice that they were both very supportive but it wouldn't have made any diff in my decision as I'm a stubborn SOB
Because I have allergies I was told to be aware of allergic reactions to PG, VG, and flavorings.
VG
Some have a sensitivity to it making their lungs feel "heavy'. Realize not all VG are equal in quality- some are made from animal byproducts and some from plant material. The finest quality of all is synthetic glycerine like Dow's Optim, it is 100% synthetic and 100% pure, and many pharma sources are changing their PG inhaler base over to that as they find it's a better choice. It's true that 3 years back, veg glycerine was the best choice as animal glycerine was the main alternative. The non synthetic VG are made from so many different feedstocks, in so many different ways, that it can't be guaranteed that someone will be intolerant to a variety that others find no problem to vape.
PG
All PG mixes should essentially be the same, as PG is a synthetic product. There are many vapers that cannot tolerate PG in large doses. Some have had to go to 100% VG with distilled water as a thinner.
Flavoring
Because most vendors understandably prefer to keep their recipes secret we really don't know what they consist of. This is the reason Organic juice vendor are becoming very popular...most of their client base are customers that have experienced sensitivity to the ingredients. Myself I'm allergic to Ethyl Maltol, a sweetener used in juice- caused cankers in my mouth which went away as soon as I stopped using it. Gave it to a friend and he LOVED and vaped it without issue. Fortunately for myself there are sweetener alternatives.
It was explained to me that the lung cilia that had been buried in tar and paralyzed by the tobacco chems ( true fact) would begin regrowth within days and
the lungs would be very stressed for a period of time (regrowth= good stress) The other area that would be stressed was the nervous system. It was recommended that I partake in some deep breathing exercises. Seeing as I LOVE swimming into the pool/ Bay I went. Lots and lots of phlegm and unknown grossness came up but it was all good. When I was younger I was heavily involved in all types of sports- swimming, Rugby, Football, Lacrosse, Boxing, Kendo and few other martial arts. I didn't attempt to get back into these activities, except for swimming, for 8 months cuz I had smoked for 44 yrs. Although not a superstar I've joined a few senior's league and and am having a ball. Also teach Kendo to kids in the Summertime.
One last point. The brain has been re wired to be "analog acceptable" and is used to our red blood cells carrying a full load of oxygen+ chems. All of a sudden they not carrying a full load to the brain and the brain is feeling "cheated" and thus sending signals to the lungs and the nervous system. Getting past the nicotine is one part of the struggle but there's also the psychological and physiological aspects of this endeavor in regards to re wiring the brain. Beyond our lungs smoking has changed many other important functions of our bodies.
Overall I would begin testing certain things- maybe try diff ratios of PG/ VG. PG/ VG can be cheaply bought at the pharmacy. Keep a journal of everything you vape and compare notes as to how you feel with certain flavors, PG/ VG ratios, etc. If looking for organic juice I've tried and their stuff was AMAZING...they also put a lot of effort into trying to resolve clients sensitivity issues- very nice people
