I was just wondering if any of you veteran vapers out there still use a stick style (cig-a-like) battery and carto system.

I've been vaping for nearly 2 years and I've recently just decided that I'd like to have one of those kind of kits again for their simplicity and portability. I currently have 2 VAMO V2s and a VAMO V5 as well as a iTaste VTR so I'm familiar with mods and how much stronger a vape you get with a mod and a tank (I use Protanks). This post is not to debate the benefits of using that style of system.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there that, despite having a mod and tank set-up. Are there any of you that still use a cig-a-like for any reason and are content with it or get good performance out of it.

If so, which one do you have?

Four years + here and I use 2 E-powers and Ego batteries for back-up. I have mech but I can't stand the weight & bulk of 18650 powered devices. I need something that is pocket-friendly and don't feel the need to spend money on larger devices. They also don't cost much to replace if lost or damaged. I found the level of vapor from low resistance (1.7) tanked cartomizers and the occasional clearomizer to be just fine. I gave up on chasing the "ultimate" vape years ago - just happy that I no longer smoke.

Yeah that's about where I am. Months ago I was lookin for the best vape possible. Now I'm just wanting something simple again that gives me some throat hit. I'm lookin to just vape a stick style battery like I used to smoke a cigarette. I'm not lookin for loads of vapor anymore. I've got my mods still if i want that. I just want to get a little throat hit and be able to vape w/o fiddling with stuff.

Also to those reading this that are going to reply. Please don't recommend something for me to try unless it's a cig-a-like set up. I don't want to go back to ego either as thats more or less the same thing as the mods since they will most likely use the same or similar delivery systems.

Don't know if this counts but for out and about/work I use a couple of Kanger Esmart batteries and clearomizers. Slightly bigger than the Joye 510 sticks that I started on and it's miles better than screwing with foam and fillers to refill the plastic cartridges. At home I have Vamos, VTR and mechs as well as have the time to mess with it when things start going wrong. A couple of the Esmarts (I think the batts are 320 mAH) gives me a couple of flavors to switch, fit in my shirt pocket and generally just work. The clearomizers I drop in PGA at the end of the week, dry burn and refill for the next week. So far I've had one battery die in the past 3 months but the toppers just keep ticking (rotating 6 total). Mind you, I only chain vape to/from work then just regular breaks until I'm on the way home again so I haven't had a battery run out yet.:)

I still use and like my joye 510s - and egos for dripping. I use the old "disposable" attys. on the joye 510s I use a clear tank cart.... it looks like the ones you use with the 510T attys (that have a spike to poke a hole in the cart) but the ones I use don't need a special atty. I've had my carts a long time so I don't know who if anyone sells them now.

Bob92985, it sounds like you're asking for a recommendation? If not, then sorry I misunderstood. But if I'm right, my answer depends on how much you vape.

- If you like to vape for a few minutes at a time (like how you'd take "smoke breaks") every once in a while, and then get on with your day, my recommendation is the Joyetech eRoll. It's the smallest cigalike out there and its performance is really great, especially considering the size. But after 25 minutes it's gotta go back in the charging case.

- If you like to vape for longer solid blocks of time (anything above 15 minutes straight) my recommendation is the Halo G6. It has much longer battery life than the eRoll and the cartomizers hold more juice than the eRoll's tanks. I do find the flavor and vapor to be a little less though.

I have my cigalikes (mainly my G6's) for when I'm out of the house and at work, and then when I'm at home I go variable voltage with tanks (over the last few years that was a Vamo, Lavatube, iTaste, MVP, Protanks, iClear, blah blah, but nowadays it's just some Halo Tritons).

Ya know I tried one of the erolls last year and I didnt like it. It would dry hit constantly. I'm not a fan of that joye atty systems, it just wasnt reliable for me. I ended up buying a Magma kit from Volcano ecigs. I read a lot of good things about it and it seemed to produce good vapor. Its got a nice charge pack too similar to the blu (which i hated that ecig). They are 510 connection too so I can grab some boge cartos when the ones that come with it go bad, but overall it looked like it was pretty nice.

Using low-resistance (nominally 1.8 ohm) heads in Vision Vivi Nova minis (2.0 ml.) on eGo stick batteries produce plenty of vapor for me.

At home and in my office, I use Provaris and Vamos.

But when I go out, three Vamos and/or Provaris stuffed in my shirt pocket make me list to port. So VVN minis on eGo stick batteries work just fine and let me walk in a straight line.

This is interesting because just today I decided that I was in the mood to fill up a carto, and break out my 808D cig a like. So yes, I am a vet who every now again has a genuine urge to break out one of my older and simple set ups. I plan to always keep them in my arsenal, although I am usually vaping on a RBA and mech, of which I have several.

I still feel that Kanger bottom coil cartomizers are some of the best that were ever made. :)

I use 2 itaste vv's with protank 2 minis or iclear 16's as my regular devices, and have some other ego-type stuff, but to be honest, I've been using my v2 kr808's quite a bit lately. The simplicity really is refreshing, and to me the cartridges provide a very smooth taste and a pleasant vape (if not huge volume).

For what I paid for that v2 kit as a noob - before discovering this fine forum - I'm glad I still get some use out of them... and to their credit they do honor their warranty... they just replaced a worn out battery, no questions asked.

I've been vaping almost two years now. I have more mods than I care to admit, but I still find myself craving the feel of holding a real cig, so I bought a bunch of Volts from Smokeless Image. They are very pocket friendly, and when the batteries are fresh, you get a satisfying hit. At least for me. I use blank cartridges, and use other vendors' juices. They are all strictly tobacco flavors, though.
