This is the YJ version. The L-Rider ones have a red power button. Additionally the YJ version has the battery meter on the right side of the lcd as this one shows in the second picture.
@ratman: True, and the forums, youtube and everything else help a lot. Just for someone to get started in what to buy to start out is pretty intense. But I guess I have to start somewhere and see what happens.
I can't comment on any others, but I had problems with my lavatube. My bf got me one with two new batteries. It would randomly shut itself off, even with a fully charged battery. As many times as I pushed the power button, it wouldn't turn back on. I'd have to psychically take the battery out and put it back in to fire it up again. Definitely a pain in the .....
I have 2 lava tubes and they both work pretty well. The V Max uses pulse modulation to power the coil and when I saw them on the ECD, they are not very accurate, usually run at higher voltage, ergo, wattage than what you think you have them set to. Thats why people tend to say they hit harder than other mods. I'm not sure whats the best but would certainly recommend a DCT mod.
I have 2 Variable Vector Volt's from Vaporbeast and I can say with certainty that they are indeed running higher than what is stated on the device. For example, my wife is vaping a Vivi Nova 1.8ohm head @3.3 and getting the same hit I am on my Provari @4.0.
The battery connector is also not so great on the VVV. They do not screw in well (light vaseline coating helped this) and the terminals do not always make full contact, meaning I have to remove and insert the battery a few times (even give it a shake) before the device powers up. This is getting better though now that they have been used a few times..not sure if the vaseline has helped in this aspect.
Anywho...the VVV (Lavatube V2?) is good for VV for the price, but I prefer my Provari (yes I know triple the price) OR the silver bullet over it.
This isnt an ad, but this is honestly the best device i have owned at the lowest price i have paid with the fastest cheapest shipping. this guy is good!
If a Lavatube your in the market for, check out volcano ecigs, I belive they started the whole lavatube craz way back when, they will be releasing the Lavatube 2.0, very different then there original lavatube.
If it's the VMax from smoktech, they just released the ZMax recently.
I am in exactly the same boat, I am about to order one of the Young June lavatubes, with batteries and charger and everything its like 75 bucks. Even if it lasts me only like a few months, thats enough time to save for a Provari...which I will probably end up doing.
first bolt then lavatube after that vmax and now ordered zmax so far every thing helps .there is nothing to end up with one or two . now it a hobby ."i have a small collection now"
Lets see here.... Below is my collection and the order in which I acquired them....
1. Cheap old 7-11 disposable e-cig (Crap!!!)
2. Bolt and tank - Still have as a backup - good but I love VV now....read on!
3. Vapage V MOD XL - Still have it and use it for long driving trips.
4. eGo C-Twist 1000mHa - First VV device and I love it. I use it with Kanger T2's and it ROCKS!
5. Silver Varitube X - Loved it when it worked (Only 1 1/2 months before the 510 connector gave out) Steer clear till that gets upgraded on a newer model.
6. Lambo V2 Chrome (From MFS) - Love it, but cant seem to use it on anything under 2.5 ohms. At 3+ ohms this thing is a beast! Hopefully this model has a better center pin insulator than the Varitube X.
All in all what I saved by not smoking I burned through in mods! If you have something to get by for now, I would save your money and just get a Provari, but if you don't, I think the Lambo V2 from MFS is pretty good so far at higher resistance (Longer battery life!)!
