My Geyscano is my "daily driver" but not as portable as the drip box. Does anyone know of something similar to the dripbox; inexpensive, portable, simple, etc.

steam crave makes an inexpensive squonk box. It looks pretty nice. The only downside to it is it only does 60W.

Buy a Reo - because you only have to buy it once.

What's that saying? "The cheap turns out expensive." More often true than not.

I prefer "Buy once, cry once." Same sentiment, though. ;)

@ErnieKim, if you're in the market for a more expensive squonker, Lost Vape's Halcyon looks great. I just wish it had better battery life or the option to use dual 18650's, like their Efusion Duo.

All; I'm going to start looking for a Reo.

My philosophy has always been, and I taught my son; "you cannot afford to buy something cheap". I got anxious when I saw the DripBox and didnt follow my own rule. I should have known to wait until the "customer beta-testing" was finished; unbelievable!

I'm sure that I will get a refund, I guess I'll buy some good batteries for the Reo with it.

Sounds like a solid plan my friend. I'm sitting here looking at mine with a little concern right now. Bought it on a whim because it looked cool and was really cheap, on monday. So far no problems, but I'm worried. I might end up just gutting it and rewiring it myself, or turning it into a mech (not something I suggest without the electrical background I have). But for now, Ima take the battery out when I'm not using it.

You'll be impressed when you tear it down; its clear that some well thought out mechanical and electrical engineering went into the device. That's why the "corner-cutting" on other aspects makes NO sense; VERY short-sighted.

the mosfet board sits right under the atty and the liquid feed -- it seems obvious some juice leaked to the board and caused the mosfet to constant fire. Poor design... I'm not a squonker fan but one with a plain old mechanical switch wouldn't have this problem.

My theory, exactly. The auto fire had nothing to do with the battery. My money is on juice leaking into the switch, either through the 510, or externally, into the switch.

Well yeah, long term cost is low. But you know how it is. People either got it to spend or the don't. Long term vs short term cost isn't always something everyone can afford to consider. That's why I don't have one. I can either afford a Reo, or I can afford to stock up on nicotine base for DIY.

I wish there were more affordable options available. It took me a long time to save up for a Reo. A cheap, reliable and readily available squonker would be nice. Perhaps more options will become available as there does seem to be more interest in bottom feeders now.

+1 for the Reo recommendation.

I don't own one, but they have a stellar reputation as a solid, reliable, and safe mod. I can't afford one, but if I could, I'd buy one tomorrow. Only the Provari has a comparable loyal following to the Reo.

When I was looking into the Reo about 3 years ago, I wasn't building coils yet, and only had experience with a very cheap bottom feeder box mod (Vapage VMod). Had I known then what I know now, I'd have bought one years ago.

As much as I hate Efest batteries because of their deceptive advertising practices, I don't think you can find fault for the Efest in causing this unfortunate incident. I suspect, as others have, that some errant e-juice creeped into the electronics and caused it to autofire. Possibly a poor design by Kanger to allow e-juice to get into the electronics.

The Reo is a good chunk of change, but it's worth every penny if you ask me.
They can be had for under $100 used, The last 2 I got cost $60 and $50 respectively, including parts, an authentic Cyclone BF and other miscellaneous modified BF clone atties, etc.
My wife got one last month that included spare springs, bottles and 7 Clone atties for $75 and it works flawless.
They're out there if you look around. ;)
Good luck!

They say it has protections -- doesn't it have a timer limit? If so, it had to be more than the button (unless it also switched off an instant every few seconds, to keep it firing).
A good point. This just goes to show that nothing is 100% safe. Electronic parts can fail.

For instance, if e-liquid leaked inside the mod and got on the processor or some wiring, enough heat from the atomizer could set the eliquid on fire and melt the wiring or fry the processor.
