If that juice dissolves plastic, I'm wondering what it does to your lungs. :w00t:

Caramel,
That's my point exactly. I don't usually look closely at the insulator. I noticed white goo on my fingers while checking it. I took it apart when I noticed that the flavor was off, thought maybe there was some oil left over from manufacturing. The taste was quite bad and I noticed burning in my sinuses, thought perhaps I was getting a cold. I was fine the next day though. Still kind of scares me which is why I was a bit heavy on the warning thing. Still don't think I deserved what the {MODERATED} said though. Just trying to give everyone a heads-up.

From Mad Alchemist's website:
"A very strong & spicy vape with some cinnamon heat. Rasberry and Cinnamon make a crazy good combo, who woulda thought? As with any cinnamon based vape this is NOT intended for plastic tanks."

Just sayin'

The Kanger Subtank is not a plastic tank. The RBA deck is subject to a fair degree of heat. For this reason, they are not made from standard plastic. They're made from Teflon or Delrin or other materials. These materials should tolerate cinnamon just fine.
So in case you didn't fully understand, this is not the tank dissolving, it's the insulator.

NOTE TO SELF: Don't ever vape "Dragon's Breath" it dissolves things.

As a rule, I refuse to vape tank crackers. If they eat plastic, they probably eat me too.

You're absolutely right. I'm working up to making my own juice so that I can wean myself off the cinnamon. I've just gotten stuck on it and am tapering off. I've tried lots of other spices trying to find something similar but haven't found anything yet.

The ***** reveals himself.
1) I did not post any video
2) I did acknowledge Kanger for replacing the part
3) I use Dragons Breath which is a popular juice by the Mad Alchemist

Kanger acknowledged this issue and is sending me a new insulator as soon as they are available.

In the meantime, can anyone tell me what material to use as a temporary insulator? I used glass but it broke when tightening.

I don't know what the original material was, Kanger won't tell me. I use cinnamon in my juice. They won't tell me what the replacement is made out of either.

I looked at my Ehpro Kayfun and sure enough, it's doing it too.

Please help me out with a material recommendation and where I can buy it.

Also, Mr. Moderator, let me know or feel free to move this post. I put it here for lots of visibility.

Thanks,

ErnieKim

Have you watched the video referenced here??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1Th2lX8tCU at exactly 35:08 he gives the relevant information...just saying and who said you could steal my "just saying"???

For future post, my advise to anyone who reads this and this is just me putting my two sence in, so people who are new to the forum that read this and might shy away because of the childish bickering, is when someone replies with sarcastic replies, just ignore them that's what I do it saves from getting a headache.

PTFE, Polyimide and PEEK are di-electric, chemical resistant, high heat materials and certainly wouldn't liquefy, soften or melt when exposed to any of the chemicals associated with e-liquid. I can't imagine what went wrong with the one that came with your sub tank (or what it was made from), Kanger's assumption that a supplier erred is plausible but still reflects on Kanger's quality control on outsourced parts.

Agreed to an extent, I haven't heard an overwhelming amount of people with this problem but having experience with making cinnamon flavor juices for people I have seen them destroy alot of tanks, that is why I will never vape cinnamon, IMO it's not even that great to vape unless you want a super strong throat hit (depending on your ratio's)

I found an after-market insulator made from PEEK that's being sold for Kayfuns. As I mentioned, I checked and noticed that my Ehpro Kayfun has a similar problem but not nearly so quickly. My Kayfun is several months old.
I'm going to order two of the Kayfun PEEK replacement insulators and see if I can make one fit my Kanger Subtank, might work.
I agree with your observation on the lack of quality control. Seems like it would be an easy enough thing for Kanger to check. My guess is that it was the X-mas Rush and trying to put out three or more different models of the Subtank.

Below is a link to the PEEK replacement insulator for the Kayfun. I'm sure they can be found elsewhere as well and I don't know if it will work on the Kanger Subtank. http://shop.vaporologie.com/products/kayfun-insulator-peek

After seeing that video I ran a few juices through my subtank including two cinnamons that normally destroy PC tank, druid an absinthe flavour and a number of fruit juices that have killed a few PC tanks in their time. After two days of constant vaping my insulator was as solid as when I started no degradation at all so this issue isn't applicable to all subtanks which backs up kangers bad batch of material problem. They are offering replacements to anyone who wants them but I don't think I'll bother as despite trying very hard I couldn't replicate the issue so it's unlikely my normal diy liquids are going to cause a problem.

With appropriate warnings to apply this at your own risk, it might be worth a try...

When I disassembled one of my Kayfuns, I noticed that the insulator is very close in thickness to a credit card. I don't know how credit card plastic would react to caustic eliquids, and due to heat concerns I certainly wouldn't plan to vape at 100 watts with it (I'd probably stay under 30), but if I lost one of those little insulators, didn't have a spare, and needed to keep my Kayfun in service, I'd definitely try credit card plastic first.

Yeah, any kind of card should work; credit, debit, library, work/school ID, hotel room keycard, etc. I get lots of such useless plastic in the mail all the time. Easier to get hold of than a factory insulator, at any rate.

If I was desperate, I might even consider trimming a little chunk from my driver's license. :)

Enough of the bickering. I have spent some time cleaning up in here.

It would make my life easier if people would remember this portion of the Forum Rules:

8. Courtesy
a. Members must be polite at all times. When addressing another Forum user, you will be polite. Courteous discussion is welcome here but heated and abusive argument is not. If attacked you are not allowed to respond in kind. Instead use the Private Message system and try to resolve matters privately and amicably. If problems persist ask for the help of a Moderator.
b. Suppliers cannot post negative material about other suppliers or their products or service or prices, whether they are ECF Suppliers or not.

9. Personal attacks
You can disagree with the subject matter of a post, but never personally attack the poster - “Attack the post, not the poster”. Treat people as you would like to be treated yourself: with courtesy.

10. Misconduct
a. These are not permitted -
Flaming (insults).
Criticizing or complaining about a Moderator, or how the site is run, except via PM (private message).

Thought I would leave the part in about criticizing or complaining about moderating... you know... just in case ;)

Rizzy,
I know that they were making "improvements" just before X-mas. My guess is that mine simply slipped through the cracks. I really don't want to vape any kind of conventional plastic though. I wish that I had a diagram of the RBA but I'm not using it anyway so I'll just tear it apart. I'll post pictures of the tear-down and repair attempts in case anyone is interested. I'm guessing it will be a while before I see anything from Kanger; hope I'm wrong though.
1) My first attempt at a fix will be to run to a thrift store and find an old Teflon pan to tear apart. Teflon should hold up well
2) if that's unsuccessful, I'll go to the True Value or Lowes to find a piece of Delrin to cut up.

Thanks for all of your helpful comments/ suggestions
Thanks for stepping in Robino

Delrin isn't very chemical resistant, like polycarbonate tanks it won't hold up against cinnamon. Teflon (PTFE), would be as good as PEEK if not better.

I have a Flavour West cinnamon flavoring that does not crack plastic tanks that are susceptible to that. I guess not all cinnamon flavoring is created equal :)
