I wrote a long post in the new members forum about my journey through vaping, but long story short: I started with Blu and thought vaping sucked. A friend got me into an Ego-T and it got me off of smoking for a couple months but went right back to cancer sticks afterwards. I didn't really find something to get me to stop smoking until I started sub-ohm vaping with the original Atlantis. I've relapsed from time to time when things like breakups or depression hit, but ever since starting with rebuildables with the OBS Engine and now my Goon (just got one today -- looooooovin' it) cigarettes just seem disgusting to me. I can't even stand the smell of cigarettes anymore, and I used to not even notice it.

When I first quit the only thing I could tolerate was Tobacco flavors and finding something else was the hardest thing I did since quitting. Thinking back to the day I found a Fruit flavor I could vape and saying I will never be vaping Chocolate or Yogurts makes me laugh every time I look at the 100bottles of e-Liquids I have now.
I tried just about every flavor for months...my all day is Death By Chocolate. Who would have thunk it?!

I smoked for the better part of 25 years, a few stretches of quit time in there but something always made me light up again. Tried a few cig-a-likes with little success. Tried again last September with a Joyetech Ego AOI and knew I never wanted to light a cigarette again. From the AIO I bought an eleaf nano and hated the internal battery and the melo tank. Bought a Pico and an Atlantis Evo and all the accouterments for external battery charging. Next stop was DIY juice. Still have the Pico and love it but just got a Protank 4 and jumped into rebuilding. I was MTL with cigarettes but DTL just feels right with vaping. Now if only I could find something to give my husband that ah-ha moment where he wants to vape more than he wants to smoke.

Future goals, RDAs and mechs.

30 years a smoker. Managed to quit smoking via a 401 type device. I still have about 20 chrome plated re-chargeable batteries but no 401's. Been searching and found a few places which stock them. I don't often vape when i'm out and about but if i had one or two teeny tiny 1st generation types in my pocket it would be handy. They look pretty cool when they are assembled, chromed n all !.

Back when i started vaping i could purchase 45mg 100% VG juice and that was what i was vaping with. Seeing as the 401's i was using didn't perform particularly well, 45mg was necessary and actually kept me from smoking. I found that these devices used to work best when they were kept horizontal. If they were used any other way they'd either flood or produce a dry hit. If i were to use a 401 type now i'd definitely being mixing up some 45mg juice.

hmmmm !!!?

Concoction Creating Cave
I smoked for about 22 years
The device that finally did it was the sigelei ZMAX
The tank was the kanger protank w/2.5 ohm coils
Juice nicotine was max I could get 24mgs
I tried a couple different pen style vaporizers and cartomizers with the GO-GO being the one I used the most. Those had me cut down the cigs quite a bit but the hits weren't enough to put me over the top. I needed the increase of vapor production that VW device gave me. The Go-Go that's a blast from the past. I used to think that thing was great.

between here and there
I found ecf when looking for an adapter for a 401 or 408 threaded safe smoke ecig. It was like sucking a milkshake through a straw. I had seen a 510 atty and wanted to use it on the safe smoke. Back then nothing was easy to find on the internet. Quickly abandoned the safe smoke for the 510 atty and those little cartridges than just held a little cotton for about 2 hits Probably tried more than my share of devices along the way. 901 Riva's, ego passthroughs, silver bullets, provape, etc..... I think my ejuice was 12mg or occassionally 18mg. I searched in vain for a juice that tasted like a pall mall cigarette. Closest was freedomsmokeusa pall mall. Had tried an overseas companies ejuice and had gotten grape flavor. Made my lips numb, so down the drain it went. Tobacco was about all the US companies were offering at the time with some cherry types and maybe some vanilla's. Usually had to buy their hardware products in order to get the juice. Found Vapor4life and went with their 808's for a time because they had a variety of different pre-filled cartridges. And on and on.........

Started smoking regularly at about age 14 tho I had been lighting my dad's smokes starting at around age 10 . Smoked for a little over 40 years with periods of quit times throughout my life. I was around 2 to 2 and a half packs a day, with stress days closer to 3 packs.

I did quit on my first attempt with the safe smoke cig-a-like. I was determined and desperate to quit smoking. None of the other products on the market ever worked and I tried them all except Chantix. I didn't think that small deposits of whatever was in Chantix in my brain was too good of an idea. Heck, I still smoked while using a patch. Once I had that Safe Smoke device in hand that was it for me. It was horrible, made my mouth and cheeks sore from trying to get something like a hit, but I just kept trying and buying almost everything I could find. Thankfully, it did get better as the industry progressed and grew.
I knew when I found tanks(actually when they started making them) that I would never return to smoking.

I started DIY my own ejuice when it was easier to obtain nicotine and found that 12mg did the trick for me and I stayed there until last year when I ventured into the bigger sub-ohm tanks. Got really adventurous last year and started to build my own coils.
Sorry for the long post.

:)

Curious, how many years did you smoke? What type of mod & tank got you to quit cigs? Did you quit doing MTL or DL? And how much nic did you quit with?

I smoked for 42 years. Got down to 2 smokes a day with 24mg and An eGo-C Upgrade kit. Upgraded to a MVP with a Protank 2 with same 24mg. I forgot about my two smokes a day the day I got my MVP. After three days I realized I went the three days without a smoke so I decided just to never have another smoke again. Been four years and never had even a drag off a cigarette. I let people smoke in my truck but my house is off limits. CHEERS!

Someone who also quit with a rebuildable, not many do, I think. Although i did buy a cig a like, a v2, it was just out of curiousity and I never bought it to quit, but it did peek my interest. I then lurked here on ecf before joining and got interested in a rebuildable gennies, which I bought. So basically before any kind of carts or dripping attys or any kind of pre coiled tanks, I went straight into rebuildables.

Smoked a pack and a half a day for 35 years. Stopped with Vuse which is 48 mg. Only cigalike that ever worked. Then an ego setup from Halo along with Tribeca for my first "real" mod. I still love that juice. From there to lots of mods, tanks, coils, batteries, assorted flavors and a whole shelf in the freezer stuffed with nic.

I am over a year off smoking as of last Thanksgiving.

Oh, and two weeks since my last vape related order. I'm so proud of myself for that.;)

About 38 years. 2-4 PAD depending if I was working inside or out.

I tried everything under the Sun as far as gear and some things helped and others didn't but none got me completely off until the Orchid V6 on a mech.

DL only as a non-smoker. MTL helped with a reduction but could never get me to stop and is of zero value with maintaining the stopping.

Been over 2 years now of 100% vaping and I do a good bit of high power pleasure vaoing but that old 30-50w low power DL is still my sweet spot.

I was a one PAD smoker for roughly 15 years. My longest smoke free period was 2 years; where I managed to quit cold turkey. Never tried gums and patches because I just didnt see the point.

I started vaping with a Blu, which I snatched from work when we started doing analysis of ECigs.
I vaped that thing during the weekend, but still smoked some cigarettes as well. During this weekend I did alot of reading on ECigs. All that stuff was confusing and it took me a while to find my setup of choice.
On Monday after work I went to an offline shop, bought two spinners, a ProTank 2 and a Mini ProTank 2 and some fruit liquids, all 18mg iirc.
I also bought my last pack of cigs, because you never know, right? This is almost 3 years ago now and that pack still lies around somewhere, almost full. I keep it as a trophy. :D

Forgot nic level.

Did 18-48 MG low power smoking reduction and 3-6 as a full time vaper.

When trying to find a flavor I was trying so many at the tasting bar that I was getting vapers tongue from trying so many flavors one after another. That is how I got the idea to use lemon flavored water to cleanse the palate and was able to finally find the first flavor. Laughing while I am vaping French Toast and drinking coffee!
