I started over 7 1/2 years ago when they didn't have tanks and seeing a person vaping was extremly rare.
I used a 1.8 ohm drip atomizer on a small ego battery, after a year or so they came out with a Cartomizer so I started using them.
I am now Using a Protank 2 with a istick PICO but still only vape 1.8 at 5.5 watts. I smoked for roll your owns non filter(Bugler) for 31 years and was able to quit the first day of using a ecig.

At the very start, i found an cigalike ecigg for a few euros during my visit to germany. I bought it mainly for fun and didn't realy expect much of it, other than as a toy.

But it quickly grew my interest to eciggs and started googling around.

Then after some research i started out with the standard ego battery and mini protank 1-2s
I heard the CE clearos was pretty bad so i skipped out of those, even tho those were the "thing" back then.
Quickly after i bought a vision spinner battery and protank 3 i believe it was and later on aero tank. Used mainly 24mg nic due i used to be a heavy smoker. Eventually went down to 12mg when i started using kayfuns.

After just a few months i grew interest into rebuilding, so i rebuilded protank 2 heads mostly.
And given that i started to rebuild i got myself a nemesis, and loved its look.
At first i had to use aerotank with it due i didn't have a "real" rebuildable.
Then proceeded to buy kayfuns, and couple drippers. Where i'm still now.

Nemesis kayfun has been the perfect fit for me ever since. So simple and it just works and it's beautiful.

I'm happy i lost my shinitis when i found my kayfuns, saved me tons of money that i mostly spend on DIY instead. :)
I'm sort of tempted to buy some high wattage mod to toy around with, but i'm afraid i'll make my old setup feels obsolete then... which i'm perfectly happy with right now.

"Don't fix what's not broken" :)
Kayfuns are very special to me as well. Went from rebuilding gennys to rebuilding Kayfuns around 4 years ago and still vaping them, but it's now the km3.

I smoked for 40+ years. I started out with KR8 cig-alikes from Vapor4Life, took me about a week to completely make the switch. I started at 24mg, and soon dropped to 12mg. Within the first year, I switched to bottom-feeders from REO, first using cartomizers, then 510 and 301 atomizers, and then RDA's when they became available for bottom-feeders. Nowadays I use DIY unflavored liquid at around 5mg strength.

Christmas 2009, a co-worker got an NJoy as a gift and showed it off at work. After work, I got on the interwebs to check out this gadget. I'm a gadget lover and at the time I had disposable income. I bought some crappy cigalike with a name something like KnightSticks.

They were horrible! But, there was enough there to make me one of the accidental quitters. And I immediately started a search for a better solution.

The first year, I spent thousands of dollars on various gadgets and gizmos, many of which were an utter waste of money. In a way, I was throwing money at the fear that I would go back to my beloved More Reds.
Even though I had at least a half dozen cartons on hand, having at the time been buying on the black market, I only lit up a couple of times. And that was more out of curiosity than anything else. They tasted terrible to me, which blew my mind!

I sold a couple of my on-hand cartons at giveaway prices, and literally threw the balance out with the garbage.

Ultimately, the goal for me was to find a solution as elegant as pulling a cigarette out of the pack and lighting it up. Well, seven years in, I have to admit I haven't found THAT ... but close.

In answer to Post #1: A crappy cigalike got me off of cigarettes. What works for me today is a ProVari with an Aspire Nautilus. I have mostly bought commercially prepared juice until very recently, when economics have directed me to make another effort to conquer mixing my own. So far, so good.

I smoked about a carton per week for 35 years, coming to an abrupt halt January 2010, seven years ago. Today, I can't imagine anything which would make me want to light up a cigarette ... not even depriving me of vaping. Not even having the worst President in the history of the USA inaugurated.

I'm with you on, if by some chance I couldn't vape, I would definitely never go back to smoking and I know this for sure. I should of added it to the thread, also asking if you had to quit vaping now, how many would probably go back?

I would hate myself if I went back to smoking it is too damn hard to quit. Wish the mods and sub ohm tanks I'm using now had been about when I first started vaping . Was using my dse801 and ciga likes for 2 years before I quit the smokes. I would vape for a couple of weeks then back to the smokes for a few days then back to the vape and so on for 2 years. For new vapers now it is great compared to a few years ago. Vape on.

How long have you been vaping? Did you say several years?

Yes, I quit smoking somewhere in 2013 probably July. I recall because 2014 was the first year I could buy health insurance as a non-smoker. I remember calculating my months as a non-smoker to see if I would qualify. (I actually read the policy definitions of "smoking" and "smoker" and "Use of Tobacco".)

45+ years of smoking up to 2 packs a day ... 5+ years smoke free now thanks to vaping. A cheap little cig-a-like kit started me on this journey. I bought my normal 2 cartons of smokes and the kit the same day. I didn't smoke any of the smokes.

I started out with 24 mg but went down to 18 within a month or so. Stayed at 18 for at least a year but started lowering it as I upgraded my equipment. Most of my DIY e-liquid is at 12 mg. I would like to think that I would never go back to smoking if I could no longer vape but I won't swear that I wouldn't. I have stockpiled enough of everything I need to make sure I am never in a position to find out.

30 year smoker. At an annual doc appointment, doc suggested I try vaping to quit smoking. Went to a local shop and they were really helpful, over priced but I needed their help and appreciated it. I left with a Kanger evod kit, a smok winder, several ego style tanks and 5 different juice flavors all in 12mg. They were great in suggesting multiple batteries so never left without when charging, and multiple flavors to help with urges and vaper tongue. I smoked my last cig 4 days later, 7/26/14.

I still had urges but continued to fight them. I did some research here. One month later I went to another local shop and bought my first Provari with a Nautilus mini, and never looked back. This shop is extremely helpful and prices similar to the net, so win win. Today, and several Provari's later  (and a few others thrown in;))... I'm at 6mg nic, and will never go back to smoking.

You quit far quicker than I. I tapered to two every morning for a long time until one day I realized that I hadn't smoked in several days. I am not sure how long it took me to know I was a non-smoker.

It surprised me too how quickly. I wasn't intending to quit, just thought I'd see what it was like and if I could reduce the number of smokes. 4 days later the smokes tasted like crap. I still had over a carton left. Used them as bonfire fuel for my 1 year vapaversary!
