Two weeks ago I noticed a shop in Stockport had opened up and was selling Ego's. I went in, spent half an hour trying different flavours and chatting with the staff and I was hooked. Walked out with a kit (Ego-T + Clearomiser + menthol) and haven't looked back.
This is cool.
I'm really good friends with a member on this site and she turned me on to it.
I haven't quit cigarettes yet but I've taken a few puffs on hers and I think I can do this.
She just ordered me a totally cool looking e cig.
It has skulls and crossbones on it - how awesome is that?!!
I'm learning a lot just looking around.

Something that got me started was trying to justify smoking to my little girl. There just wasn't any sane reason to smoke!!!
The birth of my first grandchild and the desire to be around to see her grow-up and not ask why grandpa needed to carry around a oxygen bottle
My wifes best friend is a vapor, and got her all set up. She came over and taught my wife all about it, and let me try some of her flavors. She has been very helpful to my wife n I. We are grateful.
I had vertigo and an ear infection, so I went to a local urgent care center. Of course they ask "Do you smoke?" and I said that I did and was actually trying to quit. I was prepared for the doctor to give me a sermon on the evils of smoking and suggest the patch, meds, the usual. Instead, he whipped an e cig out of his pocket and told me he hadn't smoked since he bought it. I came home and talked to my husband about it. My husband also wanted to quit smoking and had tried a lot more times than I had. (I had sorta kinda tried a little, but not really over 20+ years). At any rate, he did the research and we've been happily vaping for almost a month.

I started with a red and black SB paired with Cleantank by avid vaper(loving it BTW) and purevape juice. I started because of my kids.
In the end, it all boiled down to a poker game.

I had seen e-cigs before. Hell, I'd even tried one, one of those disgusting little Blu doohickies everyone was carrying around a few ears back. I wasn't exactly convinced, so for four years after I just kept on lighting up those delightful little cancer sticks. Fast forward to the night of the poker game, when a friend of my girlfriend's waltzed through my front door holding what looked to me like a pocket hookah with a tank on it. Through the course of the evening, we played cards and he explained to everyone at the table (all of which were smoking analogs) what he was sucking on, and the next day my girlfriend convinced me to buy a couple of those so-called "eGo" doodads and a tank to stick on top of each.
I haven't looked back since.

I read an article about e-cigs on Reason a few years ago, but at the time the tech was still new and really expensive. Last year I started looking into it as a healthier and less expensive alternative to smoking, then my husband and I both made the switch.
Well, I feel healthier, but I don't know about the less expensive part, as hubby has taken to vaping as a hobby. We're frequently trying new equipment, new combos, mods, and the like. He thinks he's ready to start building stuff. I'm just happy to vape a flavor that doesn't suck and stay off the stinkies!

My DH decided we were quitting, namely because he was concerned with my health....he did all the research, bought the equipment, and essentially told me you're done smoking. He made it pretty clear that I didn't have to vape, but I was NOT smoking. Period. We've both been vaping every since.
There was a learning curve for us, just like for most, and ECF was essential to us in getting through that....both for finding equipment that meant our needs, to all of the support from people going through the same thing. So this forum was a HUGE part of our success.
As for the actual trip, we started out on cig look-a-likes like many do, quickly upgraded to ego's because of battery life and stardust tanks to hold more juice......and finally found our happy place with Silver Bullets/ Bella tanks/ Phiniac tanks/ Rawr juices. We got rid of the cig look-a-likes, but everything else we have, we use daily.
So for me the credit goes to:
-DH for the strong arming! Lol!
-ECF and all of the people on it for support and keeping me busy reading/learning
-The companies making products I fell in love with

I was not, however, ready to quit the sensation or the simple joy of the act itself. I was relocated (military) and reconnected with a friend from earlier in my service. He had switched over a few months prior, and was touting the benefits of converting. I did a little bit of research, but, having a large amount of trust in this particular friend, I mostly went on his word and gave it a try. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I am never going back. 10 months strong, and not a craving to be spoken for.

I gave it a shot, bought more of the stuff, expecting not to enjoy it, but having it as an alternative that would reduce my cigarette intake.

I walked into my father in laws house and he had this thing that looked like a normal ..., said ' have a go on this'. I thought it was either a practical joke or one of those nicotine inhaler jobbies. Couldn't believe it when 'smoke' came out. When I left his I went straight into town and stocked up.
I couldn't believe I hadn't heard about them before, especially as friends and colleagues were all a bit blasé - 'yeah, tried them but they're rubbish' etc. Read up on them and within 2 weeks settled on an Ego and that's where I'm at now - trying to keep my credit card away from box mods and Pro Varis.

My friend, the desire to quit, and this site are getting me started. Once i found out there were cigarette sized vaporizers it was a no brainier, except for... well, you know... the battery issues of cigarette sized vaporizers.
My son's Birthday trip to mall; he found nothing to buy that day and as we were walking out he saw a mall kiosk and asked me if i would quit as a gift to him. How could I say no?

My Mom had been on my case to quit smoking for years and years - she had throat cancer and a stroke before she was 60 years old due to smoking. Of course I kind of wanted to quit but it was soooo hard! A couple of years ago I saw a friend smoking on a "pen". He told me it was an ecig....I figured it would be super expensive but kept it in the back of my mind. Then a nurse friend told be about her co-workers who quit tobacco with ecigs - I knew I wanted to try it but never took the time to figure out where to buy an ecig. Luckily I met some new friends who had been vaping for a few months and let me try one for a day or two. Wow! I could actually function without tobacco! Then I searched out ECF and it answered all of my questions and gave me great direction. 4 months after my Mom passed I had quit! I feel better, I smell better, I kept my promise. The icing on the cake - no weight gain!
Because I'm not getting any younger and in the last year I have seen my health start going south......if you know what I mean. 
And besides, I've got the prettiest little set of big brown 11 month old eyes looking at me everyday. If that's not enough I don't know what is.

A little over a month ago hubby fell ill with heart failure and left the hospital with a spanking brand new pacemaker. He is only 35 and we have 4 kids. We both smoked. Doc said smoking did not cause it, but that was enough to know if we didn't quite one of these days it will be smoking that causes one of us to be in the hospital. Nuff said, lol.
I caught the end of a news story about an ecig blowing up in a guy's face -- googled to find the whole story. Somehow I ended up at a site with reviews of starter kits. Apparently I was having an Evel Knievel moment...lol...because I went for it. Bought a V2 starter kit (oh, yeah I was really living on edge *rollseyes*) Within three days of receiving my kit, I could no longer stand the taste of my analogs. And I wasn't even trying to quit! So, I guess I quit by accident! Health-wise -- yay me! Wallet-wise --woe is me!! Between the pvs, eliquids, and now DIY, I bet I've spent three times as much as I would have on analogs. Oh well, this waaaaay more fun, AND my friends and family no longer complain that I stink! XD
