i'm sorry if this topic has been belabored... these forums are huge now and the search function hasn't turned up any results for me. Perhaps i search poorly.

Anyway...

so I've used the $16 janty atomizers... #1 of 3 has worked amazingly well and lasted forever, #2 always tasted burnt, and #3 isn't producing much vapor or flavor at all.

TotallyWicked Atomizers... leak like freakin insane. One completely short circuited my janty stick and broke it. But #3 is vaping and tasting great and i'm using it despite always having to vape with a tissue wrapping my puffer.

WHERE DO I GET THE BEST 801 ATOMIZER?

thanks much :)

I get most of my 801 attys from RockyMountainVapor (he's out of stock at the moment). They're inexpensive ($7 + free shipping) but no more or less reliable than any others I've tried.

I haven't tried enough Puresmoker attys to be sure, but I think they've been better on average. More expensive ($10) plus $6 shipping.

As soon as I can spring for a starter kit, I think I'll get an M201 (which also is a penstyle). I've read some great things about it. Unfortunately, unlike the BE112, the M201 atty is not compatible with the 801 battery (or with the 801 adapters for hybrids like the Prodigy).

I havent tried the BE112 but i want to get some-

I have Janty and TW attys- I LOVE the Jantys- they are the best IMO- but I have limited use of other 801 attys. People talk all the time about atty problems. I have maybe 1 out of 20 attys (510/801) that has taken a dump on me. And even that one has acceptable ohm reading. Maybe ive been extremley lucky- BTW I have been dripping at 6v for weeks now and still no problems. I don't ever clean and I stopped taking them off and letting them drain at night. I found if you leave them alone and use them like they are supposed to be used- meaning vape the hell out of them- thet'll be fine. I don't know why people have so many problems- maybe they bring it on themselves by trying to clean them too much or roasting the wick- i dunno- but ive had no problems and all my attys are from June/July

I have some from a lot of places - heaven gifts, dietsmokes, janty, bestecig, and I haven't lost one. I sent one janty classic back because the bridge mesh came off but it still worked. Currently using the BE112's in two Janty Sticks. They work as well as the others but don't really notice any difference - ie. they're all doing what they're supposed to.

I've come around to using the top folded PTB mod on a few ecigs - not totally sold yet and had given up on some of the other ptb mods.. but if you have a high bridge 801 - you can get a good vape without losing cart space by using the top folded PTB and leaving the center open for the bridge to fit into. This way the bridge is 'surrounded' with the top fold of the ptb that really does hold the juice and I think you get a longer vape than compressing the oem filler or shorting a ptb mod to allow for the high bridge. The ptb is less likely to grab the bridge mesh as well.

Ive heard this high/low bridge talk- what do they look like?

Is the Janty or TW high or low bridge?

The high bridge just extends further up the chamber and would penetrate the cartridge filler - almost always pulls the filler out when you remove cart, unless you cut the filler down some - but with the PTB as stated above it is surrounded by juice basically and works well, imo. With the oem filler you're better off with the low bridge. If you're dripping only, it really doesn't matter.

Janty Classic and TW are low bridge. Heaven gifts has both styles in the black and white. The titanium is low bridge. If you order b or w from HG then indicate in the comments which one you want. They just got the low bridge types at the end of September.

Hey Kent - can you describe a bit more the top-folded PTB on the 801? That one I haven't tried yet. Had bad results on the "normal" PTB for an 801. Had good results with Blue Foam. But I'm intrigued with the top fold if it wicks and doesn't leak.

what voltage do you vape at?
which PV ?

The answer is a BE112 with a modified ohms resistance depending what you vape.

I found that the BE-112 is great for low voltage vaping. But when I used it on a Prodigy it burnt out fast. In this case burnt out means that it works but that every puff was extremely harsh like the atomizer was burning.

I don't know your vaping ritual, but harsh taste on a penstyle atomizer at 5+ volts is usually because it is running too dry. Wet it more.

The top fold is folding the very top - I do two folds - then roll - I do the folded edge out so there's nothing for the bridge to hang on in the center - I use a toothpick - rolling it into a small tube - insert - it 'expands' to where there's a hole in the center where the high bridge will go. See the 2nd video down here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/34401-ptb-plug-full-510-cart.html#post527318

Oddly you can't 'shake out' the juice even though it looks like it's 'free' in the center' and like vid says, the folds do 'hold' more juice than the lower unfolded part and I do make two cuts in the lower part but I don't think it matters. lol

PTB doesnt wick - just dip it in any liquid - it doesn't rise - it holds juice in much the same way the screen mod holds juice. It's all gravity from there. Polyfill does wick some with the finer threads even though they are both made out of the same stuff PET. I actually linked that Fluval foam once but retracted it on further investigation. The 20oz polyfil or the same density fluval is better for wicking, imo - not as 'neat' as the foam ;-) though.

If you lay the PTB ecig on a paper towel it will "leak". If you don't, it won't - is what I've found with the top folded mod. I lay mine horizontally accross a fluted edge dish/small platter [that was made for my ecigs by a potter friend. She could sell these.] All the others leaked and the first vertically folded mod would dry out so much just over night that you could take it out and it would maintain it's vert. fold very stiffly - you could stand it up... or at least that was my experience - that plus the leakage made me abandon it completely and even the top fold mod is still 'in evaluation' but so far working. I only have it on two 510's and one Janty stick.

That said... the best Janty Stick method is Elendil's trick - 'needle tip squeeze bottle'. Filling from the bottom up on such a large cart, pushes what would normally be the 'old juice' to the top, so you're doing modified FIFO recycling and the old bottom juice never has a chance to get rank and if you're using a tobacco based juice it can make even a smooth Virginia taste rather nasty by just 'topping off'. I found even the straw mod didn't work as well with the JS as it did with the 510.

So I keep that in mind with the top folded PTB using gravity or Deadcat's 'windmill/thermometer' move, to recycle the juice in the PTB.

Way too much info... lol ..but for those that need the full explanation rather than just 'USE PTB!' ... now you know why, but only from my pov - ie. grain of salt, etc. ;-)

I like Eastmall's 4 hole 801 atties. Huge atty bridge and it's very low and easy to drip on.
I originally picked up an 801 atty from Eastmall to try out (for 6v) on my chuck. They looked huge and anything that reduces the amount of time I spend dripping is good. I also really liked the mouthpiece.

They're low bridge attys, and the vapor production is really good. The problem: I barely used it over the course of a week (about 6ml or so vaped) yet went through about 8ml of juice just in leaking. It didn't seem to matter if I dripped two drops or four - if I had juice in it, then it'd leak.

Admittedly, I've never tried the carts, but the dripping thing turned me off.
