Yeah, ya know what? I had the guy who came over to do maint on our AC here at the house give me the big rant about that when he saw me vaping, all about how no studies had been done on it, and how it was worse than cigarettes, blah blah blah blah... etc. Seems we are just another handy target of the haters, who all just desperately need someone to hate.

vaping is relatively new and something different, and the haters are johnny on the spot with their hate. They never miss an opportunity.

True. People don't think what they may be doing that annoys or bothers others. But boy, do they rant when it's something that the "public" is against or when they saw some piece on the news. I know, and you know that cigs will kill us, if they have not substantially done so already (over 1000 harmful/carcinogenic chemicals), and so do 99.99% of people on this forum. But vaping is not about them, it's about us - about us leaving behind a really crappy habit for another which is safer and healthier.

Nothing like a cigalike, it was my mech and RBA, and this was at the vape booth he was hanging around. I'm quite sure he was there just looking for someone to get on. If it hadn't been me it would have been another person there. After his outburst at me he walked away fast, I think to avoid any response on my part after he'd scored his point.

I'm betting he came back to the vape booth after that and repeated his performance with others.

Reminds me of these little dogs: bite you, pee themselves, and run away

Wasn't that slogan I once heard " Hope and Change". Seems it was really Hate and Change cause that's what's happening with too many people.

Yes it is, and that's why there's the aforementioned "crisis of anger in America" I also just came across this story, how Americans have become increasingly distrustful of each other:

My Way News - In God we trust, maybe, but not each other

It really does seem to be circling the drain, and obviously something is very wrong at a fundamental level. I fear it will get a lot worse before it gets any better.

our society is fraying. More and more people are finding they can't handle the stress of daily life anymore so they'll take whatever easy target they can find. It is sad but unavoidable really as our economy continues to be unstable and fear mongering is used more and more by our government and the media to keep people in their place. Any easy target will do.

So society is fraying - divide and conquer. Little folks, average Jane and John Does at each others throat, way too busy with their piddling squables to notice that the big folks take off with your money, your rights, your liberties... aided unwittingly by these oh-so-righteous professional offence takers.

'Live and let live' whatever happened to it, tolerance, where did it go ?

Can't smoke near an entrance to a public building while a truck thunders by, spewing more muck into the air then you could ever accomplish with a decade's worth of analogs. Racism, apartheid, didn't disappear, it just got replaced by something else. As long as you give some folks someone to pick on, so they can lend some illusion of meaning to their pathetic existence... even them I tolerate - up to a point, for their 'freedom' ends where the range of my fists begins...gratify them with a slighty deranged smile and wonder loudly if the mouthpiece of your PV would be able to burst an eyeball ....:D

The problem is so many people these days have a short fuse to ANY kind of inconvenience or irritant - and think they have the right to act badly if they feel in any way slighted, annoyed or bothered. Dealing with the public these days is like walking on eggshells half the time - and I'm the kind of "Live and let live" kind of person, so I can go out of my way to be as little of a problem as possible (without being taken advantage of, of course.) One of the nice benefits of vaping is not bothering people with cigarette smoke. I was always a polite smoker, I tried to be aware of my surroundings, and didn't smoke if it bothered someone, so I'm the same with vaping. And, i know, that with some people, that won't matter. LOL. What are ya gonna do? :)

Must be something to those GWEN microwave signals patented by the Gov that puts voices in people's heads theories afterall.

I don't agree with most of you, sorry, I just don't.

I don't think we should be vaping in public anywhere where you can't smoke. I think it will lead to a ban in the end if you keep walking around blowing huge clouds in public and offering to 'educate' people. Have you any idea how arrogant that sounds? Look if people want to find out about vaping they will - the same way we all did.

Some of you sound like you walk around with a pre-prepared speech about the virtues of vaping, armed with a list of website addresses and blowing vapour in the hope that someone will be impressed by it just so you can unleash this tirade upon them.

If we want vaping to be accepted by the masses, rather than banned I think we need to be slightly more discrete in public and act like smokers until proven otherwise, e.g. stick to smoking areas at work and everywhere else. I only openly vape at home or in my car. I think for now that's the way to go.

I'd hate to turn into a vaping bore, "Hey honey who did you invite to the dinner party tonight?", "Oh crap not him, he'll bore everyone stupid about vaping and how fking awesome it is". :2c:

Oddly enough, people said the same thing for years about conspiracy theorists who said the NSA was tapping our phone lines/email/im's.

Oh wait... they are. lol

I feel I should say, vaping was allowed everywhere I had my experiences with the hostile people, and for Pete's sake, the man who pulled his act on me today was hanging out right next to a vaping goods stall in a flea market, just to find someone to target with his hostility. I really doubt very seriously that it was about vaping at all, but rather about all his pent up anger and frustration in life.

So I must ask you, should the e-cig vendor there in the flea market forbid his customers from trying his products for the sake of such people? Where does that end? To what lengths should we have to go to avoid being their targets? Shall we all just keep in our homes and never go out?

You are absolutely right. We should act exactly like smokers. Only vape in smoking areas, and not vape in public areas so they won't ban vaping in public areas. We should also keep it out if sight and in our own homes so vaping will become accepted and we'll no longer be treated as smokers.

I think it is just as much bad taste to vape in somebody's face as it is for what the guy did to the original poster. In places that are non-smoking I stealth vape, "go to the bathroom", walk away from the herd of people, etc.

As for being a vape bore, every hobby has those. I know photographers that have no idea how to start a discussion outside of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and gear. These are also the people that spend every waking minute taking pictures of grid cards and brick walls so they can produce their own MTF charts. I hate those people because they never go out and shoot. They just buy $3000 lenses and take pictures of grid cards so they can pixel peep.

Have you ever been to Seattle? I have spent enough of my life standing outside in the rain next to an ash tray. Not going back, but I do try to be extra responsible and non-offensive.
