Have only been vaping for a week now. Of those 7 days, 6 have been analog free. (YAY!) When I bought all the starter stuff, the vendor suggested starting with 18mg liquid and that is doing the trick for me. I had been smoking an average of 13-15 full flavor cigarettes per day prior to that and had been doing so for 27 years. I only wish I had started vaping sooner, it has made quitting easy. So my vote was obviously 18 mg.

Surprised by the results. I was a reasonably heavy smoker 50+ grams ryo per week. My first bottle of juice wad 18 mg and I found it way too strong. 9 mg was comfortable at the start. I stayed there for about a month then added a glug of pg/vg to my base mix to drop to about 7mg. Another month later I have become comfortable there and will drop again in a few weeks.
Just my experience not trying to preach to anyone. I figure I am more addicted to the smoke/vapour than the nic. Explains why gum and patches did so little to help

I smoked about a pack a day of menthol tobacco stinkies for 20+ years (that time)...
I began vaping at 18mg nic and worked my way down through several steps of nic to 6mg and was VERY surprised that I didn't hardly notice the steps down (18,12, 9, 6mg,) then learned nicotine aint so bad (similar to caffeine) so relaxed some for the last month or so between 10-12mg - absolutely no desire to return to the stinkies presently - but do wish to get down eventually to 0mg nic for the savings overall.
I find the nicotine a definite appetite reducer! and don't want to 'not eat' what would be normal and healthy.
Also looking back, I've not had one cold since I quit the stinkies! That is new! I'd pick the colds up everywhere it seemed while smoking.
I'd say to a newbie/noob - start between 18 and 24mg and lower it slowly - it's easy to drop down a notch. I kept one flavor at the next higher level and would enjoy a few puffs off that one WHEN I had the urge for something stronger (in the afternoons usually) - but that only lasted 2-3 days and I was happy with the next lower level.... NOTHING like going cold turkey off stinkies previously!! haha very easy vaping. Don't fear, just try it - if it doesn't work for you then try another method... no one is 'grading' you on your vaping (grin).

I said 12mg but it seems like I'm vaping a lot. My next batch I bought is 6mg. and I ain't buying no more so it will have to do. Big plus for me - no more coughing my lungs up in the morning or gagging when brushing my teeth and my tongue looks great now:p and I think i could actually wait awhile when I wake up before I vape.

i use to vape 24mg with hh357's and carto's that was good enough to satisfy me . but since i switched to rba's an have been running sub ohm setups i dropped down to 12mg and its the same vape as i use to get with 24mg . some times i even drop down to 6mg if i am using a crazy build like .2 quad coils i have to . but if i am using a carto tank i vape 24mg still but i rarely use carto's these days

i use to smoke up to 5 packs a day when i quit i was down to 2 packs most days and when i quit the 24mg did it for me, i started at 18mg and quickly went up to 24mg

Having been a half-pack, light cig smoker, I was surprised to find I needed to vape 24 mg at first. That only lasted a couple of weeks before I was getting nauseous and moved to 18 mg. Now 18 is makes me a little queasy, and 12 is right for me. I don't know why, but my nicotine tolerance seems to be dropping. Maybe I'm vaping for longer each day.

The poll needs another option.

"Variable"

With smoking regular cigarettes, a smoker would usually settle on 1 particular brand, and smoke at a particular rate.
Once the smoker lights a cigarette, the smoker has an incentive to smoke it, even if the first half was enough.

With ecigs, there is a whole lot of flexibility.
Many people end up having a few tanks or cartriges ready for a puff; You can pick up one thing and take a puff, then put it away, and later go puff something else if you want to.

In my case I vape mainly a low to 0 nic liquid, but I keep a v-nano with I think its 22mg/ml 'cuban cigar' which I might take an occassional puff on. I don't even carry that v-nano on me or carry it with me; it is just right here next to my computer and that's where it stays.
