Efest has a newer 35 amp battery in 18650. I suggest you get a couple of those for sub ohms

I wouldn't dream of trusting efest batteries. they have a long history of overstating their batteries, and in every test I've seen, efest come in near the bottom. Sony vtc4 for me, at least until they release the vtc5

unless I want 490 or 350, then nothing but aw. but I like my mods like I like my women. big and full of energy

Nemes are infamous for having a sticking switch. An easy fix. As far as battery safety, all noobs to mechanicals should run a Kick imo.

This is the reason my £200 titanium gold ba gua has been sat in the gift bag it came in for the vast majority of the time since i bought it! It comes out now and then for a vape on a fully charged battery but half an hour or so, then gets tucked away again. I was considering getting a kick, but its a 490 and the length of time 350s last just depresses me

I keep it as i love the look of it, think i will use it more in the future and want a mech just in case the UK government manages to find a way to prevent the sale of VV devices in future. Saying that, if someone local offered me a swap for another provari i'd probably do it ;)

I agree.. Here is one test comparing the Efest 30 amp to the Sony VTC3: (I use the VTC4's)

The great 30A shootout Sony US18650VTC3 vs Efest 30A

At 20A the battery was blazing hot and continued to rise even after the load was removed. Above 20A it did not seem to be able to keep up with testing.

That's not a Nemesis switch.. It's the 69 mod...

EDIT: Noob? LOL! I run Kick 2's in all of my mechs... ;) I do understand what you're saying though, and agree... ;)

sounds like a battery issue (or probably an idiot issue). The same vent would have ruined a provari too. The idea is to keep your batteries from venting

Since the release of the ProVari in 2010, I have never heard of a battery venting issue.. There's something to be said for real-time, constant battery monitoring.. ;)

that isn't saying anything for the provari though because since mods came along I've only ever heard of 2 vents and both of them were not being safe. They deserved it. this 69 will make three, and I'll be willing to bet the person who blew it up deserved it too
Now egos on the other hand...

edit: I seem to recall one story about a person who had their provari get real hot and chucked the battery out thhe window of their car before it could vent. the provari apparently still worked but it wouldn't have if that cell went all pear shaped inside

btw, dna not only has real time battery voltage monitoring, but thermal monitoring as well

I have experienced venting in two mech mods over the past 3 years.. I believe Baditude had a batt vent in one of his.. It does happen. Says everything for the ProVari and other safe, regulated voltage / power devices.. The battery is constantly being monitored. Personally, I think anyone who does not at least run a fuse in a mech is foolish.. ;)

This is 2014.. We used mechs a few years ago because that's all we had until the Buzz and ProVari came on the scene. I own and like mechs for reasons I posted before, but I use them with Kick 2's. I have a DNA 30 device just in case I do get the itch to go more extreme with my builds. :) With the many high wattage devices now here, and more coming, mechs in general will be a relic of the past before too long IMO.. ;)

I've heard something similar to this before...more than a few times in the last two years...now what could have been the subject of that discussion...I just can't remember. :p

bad was one of the two vents I was referring to and even he will admit he deserved it. the other one was a ..... stacking cheap unregulated batteries and trying to hit a low resistance atty. I'm sure in retrospect you can trace your vents back to some error, bad batts, bad charger, undercharge, overdraw, dropped, wet, bad mod, etc. Using good batteries properly and building safely, even subohming is safer than ego batteries
