Hey FC, your politicins are at work protecting the children, hopefully it won't impact future deliveries of snus-

State delivers lawsuit to UPS - Times Union

I loved this statement, "In some cases, UPS appears to have handed over the packages to children at various residences across the state, according to the lawsuit."

Does every politician use children as their human shield?

Heck I use to buy them from the various cigarette machines that were everywhere. Four quarters and out popped a pack of smokes. They stacked them right next to the candy bars in the machines so the adults were none the wiser when a thirteen year old was plugging quarters into it.

Hopefully, they don't stop delivering tobacco products entirely although I could frankly exist on Mint and some Wintergreen and White thrown in there once in a while.

Heck, my aunt was a school teacher in NJ and we'd spend two or three weeks at her house during the summer. She lived up above a railroad tracks and there was a grocery store that sat on the other side of the tracks in this old zinc mining town gone dead. She'd sent me down to the store when she ran out of smokes (she was worse than I as far as consumption, I don't remember her ever not having a cigarette in her mouth). I couldn't have been more than seven or eight the first time she sent me on the journey. I know I was afraid of the steep terrain I had to traverse the first time since it must have been at least 50 yards down. However, I found a path worn in I suppose from the locals who used the hill as a shortcut. Anyway, I wasn't even looked at strange when I asked for three or four packs of Winston.

Another world.

Definitely a different world. In the last five years or so, I'm met four people that are now, or soon will be in prison. In the previous 60 years, I knew no one (at least that I know of). Two for vehicular homicide DUIs and two for murder. The last one has me completely stunned although the veterinary (who I took my dog to) who killed his pregnant girlfriend was pretty sick (he was married).

One of the fellows that played poker with us in Saturdays stabbed a co-worker to death on Wednesday, then stabbed himself and cut at his throat in an attempt to commit suicide. There's a community of Sudanese that settled in the area and a number of them play poker. He wasn't a regular but played frequently enough that I got to know him fairly well. The typical quiet, nice guy you hear about from neighbors when this type thing happens sometimes.

From a note he wrote he definitely planned to kill the guy. The day before, the victim pulled the chair he was going to sit on out from under him and he threatened that he'd get him. Wrote the note, apparently the night before talking about how the victim was destroying his life with his family and friends. The last line was, "A life for a life". Sounds like the extreme response to some major harassment. Such a shame.

That's crazy Roth. I grew up with a guy who went on to rob 3 stores looking for money to buy more drugs while high who's now in prison, no murderers though fortunately.

Another brutal night in the mitten state. Cold enough the moisture in my breath instantly freezes to my mustache. Can't wait for spring!

Waho, it's 0 here today with wind chill close to your actual temp. It's nuts! Glad we have all this global warming. It might be 10 in Miami instead of 47. The only good I can bring is that TomCat is still kicking in this stuff, I know he's got to be cold, but refuses to let me get a hold on him and bring him in. I just hope he survives.

    Somewhere between here and there
It's not nearly that cold here. It was about 15 when I left. However we did get some snow yesterday so it's starting to look like the regular winter that we have here. Up until recently we were having much warmer than normal temps for the most part.

The cold eased up a bit but we're supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow followed by icy rain to pack it down, then the cold is to return. Ugh This is getting long.

This whole fracking issue is quite curious. In a State that's looking for additional revenue, we remain the largest State not to tax the production. Then there are the environmental issues which might be exaggerated by those that gain their livelihood from fighting anything that supports humans living on this planet. I'm actually surprised the whole state of NY west of NYC and its suburbs hasn't separated itself and gone it alone or really given PA a different shape.

Hitt, I'd do the same if they ever hit us up with a $1.99 per can deal. At $2.11 per can with sales tax, I'd hit up every retailer in the area and build up my freezer cache.

There has been legislation introduced every year to split NY for a long time. Never sees the light of day. If fracking causes eathquakes, let's put the wells in a north/south line just west of Albany and let the giant fracture split us off from the idiots. [emoji57]
Unfortunately, if NY scares UPS into stopping deliveries, no one will get any kind of tobacco outside a local store. So much for product choice.
