LOL I am here to mention two things. Snus is working great, I feel I can enter the jail with confidence tomorrow. Okay, that's not true, I am anxious, but proud of myself for NOT BEING anxious until the day before. LOL. That's like a record for me but I seem to have spent all my anxiety on being well, anxious before the fact, thanks to how this went down.

I killed another tire going clothes shopping for the kid. The husband asked me if I curbed it or something, but I answered, "No," more out of general principle but also I can't remember and I DON'T think I did, I'm certainly not going to cop to something I don't remember doing etc.

LOL he went to investigate and there were lots of words about tires but it ended with, "Do you understand what I'm telling you? You don't have a tire."
"Well, I have a DONUT don't I? We KNOW it works. I am driving 10 minutes tomorrow so like, shove that on, and you can deal with the other tire when YOU feel like it."
"Deep sigh, rolls eyes."

LOL there are times when I really feel bad for the husband and I guess I should feel glad I'm married, because not only does he do stuff like ROUTINELY check my tires, he also deals with any Tire Fallout."

I would have been gaping at it tomorrow morning early, so I really need to Show Him the Love, etc., as he is out there donut-ing it, and he didn't even complain really. Not that much.

I also re-learned, by waking up late after turning my alarm clock off, saying to myself, "Fifteen more minutes," and etc. that I need my alarm clock VERY far away, like get up and walk in order to turn it off.

I'm going to chalk all this up to "useful" I guess, but honestly, I'm betting the husband is thinking something else.

He keeps getting me used tires as "I can't be trusted with them" and I'm unsure, frankly, if this contributes to the problem or not, but that one was on there OVER a year, so I hope I don't get TOO many complaints etc.

Anna! What is it with women? Your post reminded me to look at the back one which looked low yesterday and it was. I filled it up and, yup, it's going down. I think I've got to find a source for used tires, it sounds like a plan. Now I got the first one from a big auto/tire company in the area and when he checked, there were only two available and I'm hoping tomorrow they still have the other one. I guess I'll pull it off and see if I can figure out what's wrong with it but I'm pretty sure it's more than a puncture.

Anyway, I stopped for gas today and as I was filling I saw their sign about "Lowest Allowable Cigarette Prices in the State". I really haven't paid attention for awhile so I looked around. For the bargain brands like USA, with sales tax it was $7.50 a pack and Marlboro was $8.50. I didn't see a sign for American Spirit which was always close to a dollar more expensive here (you know those "healthy cigarettes") but I'll bet they're over $9. Scratch that, I just asked the tire destroyer since I remembered she has them from time to time. Answer. "Close to $10".

Time to get out my breaker bar and pull a tire.

Anna, what type job are you starting?

Tire news. Took it off, washed it off looking for a leak, front side, back side and along the tread, no bubbles. No sign of a leak around valve, nothing. Slow leak around the bead perhaps?

Just got word that the people that bought the house our family owned for 62 years is going to have a baby boy in late January. What are the chances that he will arrive on the 26th, exactly 100 years after my mother was born?

    Somewhere between here and there
A little clean up project turned into an all day ordeal. The sidewalk in front of our porch had sunk on one corner. We ended up cutting down and pulling the stump of a mini spruce tree that had been in front of our porch for 15 years or better. Then I dug out the dirt and used a tractor jack to lift the sidewalk up so we could get dirt under it. I’m really sore now and can’t imagine what it’s going to be like getting up for work.

I will be working in a jail. I have a really nice potentially position waiting for me in Pedes, but it's a 3 hour round trip commute, although one of my references like, emailed me enthusiastically about THAT one and how I should take it. LOL, it should only take me a BIT of time to find out if working in a prison I can live with myself doing. I mean.... I've worked with tons of felons, but never in a Jail, and I have to lay money on the fact that the majority of my SYMPATHIES will be with the felons. So, if I see one to many human violations I may be outta there etc.

I mean, you say the word "prison" and everyone gets creeped out, right? LOL. Well, I'm gonna be IN one 8 hours a day and I bet I will see things that will not make me happy. I kinda HAD to say yes, I mean, I was stunned after all the dramaz of the background check, but I couldn't turn down a well paying job given I was searching for one. The other one is a crazy commute but heck, I could vape during my crazy commute.

I'm also a little annoyed about how Lack of Prepared I am. I mean even a "Show up at x time" would have been nice, etc., and I am bringing some STUFF because I Have to eat and drink etc., but all I know is everything I cannot bring, and honestly cute, sick kids? Plus 10K more plus better insurance. Well, I guess I will Find Out and etc. I don't even know my scheduled DAYS yet and I know I have to get T tested and rabies injected and whatnot (well, Hep B) but ah yeah. It's not all very fantastic although who knows I may just walk in there and be all Right Aligned with the Jailors and stuff, although I must admit that likelihood may be low.

But I'm kind of older that kind of commute sort of sucks, too.

    LOL..

A three hour commute each day would have been nixed by me back in the day. When I left the newspaper which was within a 5 mile drive, it was longest I had to travel to work. Round trip when I started 1 1/2 hours. Then I changed jobs and location within that job twice at about the same commute time. Finally my third move in the job I retired from, we moved back to the area where my first long commute took place. Of coursethe area had expanded and there was a lot more traffic. It would have been over two hours. I had a position where I was dealing globally so it was beneficial to work early. Instead of a 9 to 5 job, I was getting to work by at least 6 and leaving well before rush hour. The ride was still 40 minutes regularly but much better than a minimum hour.

It doesn't sound like a CO job, medical, social, admin? My live ins son was a CO in the Army, spent a year serving at Gitmo.

Didn't really need it as I have enough in the freezer to last till year end (and then some), but seen that snus.us had my 2 main use snus on sale, so I figured I would stock the freezer back up. Will most likely order more at the end of the year if there are some good sales. I have found the only way to get the price down is to order a fairly large order, so the shipping cost is spread over more cans.

General White Mint (8mg per portion) ($2.48) x24 = $59.43 (Total Cost $3.19 per can)
Nick & Johnny Americana Xtra Strong (15.4mg per portion) ($2.89) x20= $57.89 (Total Cost $3.60 per can)
Olde Ving 99 Coffee (8.1mg per portion) ($1.95) x15=$29.29 (Total Cost $2.66 per can)
Thunder Sweet Mint Slim White Dry Snus (11.2mg per portion) ($2.90) x3 = $8.69 (Total Cost $3.61 per can)
Thunder Ultra Strong Raspberry (19.8mg per portion) ($3.23) x3 = $9.69 (Total Cost $3.94 per can)

    Items $164.99
    Shipping & handling $45.77 (65 cans @ $.70415 per can)
(66 cans would have pushed the shipping to the next level of $48.46, so I stopped at 65 cans)
    Total $210.76

    And Hello All :)

$3.10 a can, you can't really do much better. Yeah, I've found that the most cost effective deals come in that $200 to $300 order range. The general stuff is always a bit more expensive from my experience. That's about a year's supply for me. Considering I was spending around $300 every two weeks back when I was smoking, that's a bargain and using today's prices, my smoking cost would be up to nearly $400 every two weeks.

You did better than me burnie. My order came out to 3.50 a can. I had to order since I was down to 2.5 cans of thunder.
I didn't have to order, but didn't want to run low either, I want to have a 6 month supply at all times. Best deal I got was January, they had General Mint 10+5 free, order was 76 cans total (assortment), but the mint figured out to $2.58 per can with shipping.

They haven't been $5 a pack since the early 00's around here. Marlboro's run over $7 a pack now.

I paid $11 for a pack for my wife in upstate New York last fall. Craziness.

Generics are $9 locally, Reds are closer to $12. New York taxes everything to death and the citizens don't get much in return. We have state sales tax, county sales tax (both of which apply to goods AND services) propery tax (state, county, and local) on land/house, school taxes based on the value of your property, income tax, and we have bi-annual vehicle registration fees. There are corporate taxes too so the company pays taxes on what they make and you pay taxes when you buy what they make.

After low end med/dental/vision insurance, a 4% 401k contribution, and the state/fed/disability payroll taxes, I bring home just over 50% of my gross pay.

50%. And I get 0 in assistance from the state for anything. Our roads suck, our bridges are falling on cars.

That's crazy. Claiming single 0 on my city, state and federal taxes, I net about 70% take home. Not to mention healthy returns at income tax time.

My wife wants to move to the Adirondacks after retirement. I'd rather buy a place "up north" and stay in Michigan. At least I can keep and carry my guns here and the taxes are more reasonable...

Wow Hitt, they were more expensive than that here when I started vaping 9 years ago.

But NY protects those illegals FC. You've got to be crazy to live in the NE and insane to live in New York. My ex-wife just sold the house I bought back in the 70s when I was selling real estate for $35,000. It sold for around $435,000. There was a big addition I put on right before we got divorced that added a big Living Room a nice deck and the garage that I still wish I had. You could have put 6 cars in it plus the two car garage that was already on the house. https://www.zillow.com/homes/1116-Upper-State-Rd,-North-Wales,-PA-19454_rb/

Hitt, my friends in Georgia live in the mountainous area. I think I'd love it there. Average temps in Summer are mid 80s, winter's worst months are around 50s with high 20s at night. Beside the much better taxes, that sounds like my kind of weather. Even my place in VA is not much better than PA, maybe 6 degree difference. Unfortunately, I don't expect I'll ever leave here though. Too set in after all these years.
