Yesterday was bath day for 2 long hair cats. Also a good day to catch the matinee of The Hobbit with wifey. Excellent movie, the first I've been excited about in years! Received a HUGE order of snus the day before. Decided to branch out into some lower nicotine levels, so in addition to my usual General Long ES, I got some General regular portion, and am currently lipping the mint. It's a bit sweet for me. Next time, I think I'll get more of the Goteborgs Lignon. Anyway, at my current rate of consumption, I should be set till nearly August. :)

Hey Roth how is that web tv box working? My revue bit the dust. It won't boot at all. I think I'm going to take my wifes advice and get Apple tv. We have several Apple devices and I think its cool that you push media from other devices to the tv. I didn't really use the revue much for web browsing anyway.

I'm one of the worst people to talk about iStuff. We do have an iPad that I use for bathroom private time. I'll usually throw ESPN on what's happening in the world of sports but that's as interested as I get. I think the Roku is the most popular device in that class. I rooted the intalled a custom ROM on it and I have most of the apps that I run on my phone running on it. There are two issues that make me believe I was a GEN early. Netflix has been slow to support Android and the antenna suffers from distance to the router. I've got a couple walls and the actual TV in the way of the signal. People have gone to all kinds of methods to improve the antennas and a number appear to be successful.

I think it might work out in VA. and from what I'm reading, Skype is doable as long as you have open access to the router but it certainly isn't plug and play. I'm still amazed with what it can do.

Good morning. I like using my iPad to watch shows that I don't want the kids to see and for playing games. I got an adapter for Xmas that let's me plug in my guitar and play different amps and effects thru garage band app. We got the youngest an iPad mini for Xmas and both have ipods. A friend showed me how they can put the media from their iPhone to the tv with the Apple tv and it seems like a cool feature.

I went downstairs earlier and noticed an odd smell. The dump pump was running continuous and the pipe coming up was hot. I forgot to unhook the long drain line outside and the whole thing froze. I used a heating pad and a blow dryer and finally got it thawed. I need to go to home depot and find a permanent solution.

I know, half the world loves Apple and the rest hates it. I realize they have some neat stuff, but it comes at a price. I had a guy when I was running the IT shop that really turned me off the company. He managed to slide nearly $200k of equipment past me and build an entire computer room filled with high end DP stuff. He ended up running it himself because no one else in his department knew anything about it and it was too involved. Turned out to be a major waste of money to everyone but himself.

"Dump pump"? Not sure what that is unless you don't have a basement and it's a submersible of some sort.

Sorry to hear your not feeling well Hitt. Hopefully it will pass quickly.

I'm still not picturing your sump pump setup. It sounds like you pump out to a pipe not placed below the frost line. I'm guessing you direct the water to a swale that pushes the water to the street and out a storm drain system. My only experience with sumps was my mom's house where the pipe ran out to a gutter and somehow remained operative all these years. I think I recall once where roots clogged it that my dad got someone it to unroot it (probably jinxing myself).

I checked out Apple TV. Sounds pretty cool in that you can have a wireless attachment from the ipad to the TV you're attached to. You'll have to give an update after you finally decide to buy it. I saw a report on the fact that smartphone will have the sense of feel within the next five years. That seems so bizarre and I can't imagine how close the could get to the feeling of different fabrics and how close they could get to the actual feel of the fabric of the shirt you're considering purchasing. I guess someone said that years ago about capturing images.

I went to the doctor and got some antibiotics yesterday.

I have a sump hole in the basement that the pump sits inside of. The pipe runs up the basement wall and out the side of the house. I had a hose attached to it to drain the water to the back yard but forgot to disconnect the hose before it got really cold so the water in the pipe and hose were frozen.

Hitt, you must really be feeling bad. I pretty much figured you had something like that. I managed to avoid sumps wherever I lived. My first house never had a problem. The second had an issue but I had a guy that broke up along the basement walls, was able to run the water out the back naturally and ran it out the back. Never had another issue. I had some flooding here, but only with massive rain storms and I was able to add some outside drain length in a couple areas and that stopped. I have one problem area along a couple of sliders in the basement, but where it could back up I have nothing of value and laid down indoor/outdoor carpet so I'm pretty good.

I moved the MK808 closer to the router this morning and it runs like a champ, 1080P and netflix which isn't supporting 1080 yet runs fantastic. I've narrowed the problem to the antennas. They have twin antennas and I believe one controls upload and one down. I'm trying to get verification that the one in the front if handling downloads because I'm pretty sure that one has design issues. I really want that to replace DirecTV in VA.

I'm just glad I have been off all week so I could rest while being sick. I woke with a bad sore throat two days in a row and was worried that I might have strep. The test came back negative but he gave me antibiotics anyway. The body aches went away yesterday. I have to go back to work tomorrow so I'm hoping to feel better by then.

I'm back at work today. I took advantage of the sale at buysnus last week and stocked up on some general mint. I also threw in a can of skruf fresh white to try. I'm just a couple minutes into the first portion but don't really care for it so far. It's got an odd kind of spearmint taste to it. I always like to get at least one can of something new to try if I put in an order. I'll see if the flavor mellows out any. At this point I'm kinda glad I only got one can. On the general mint I figure with shipping included I still ended up saving about 60-70 cents per can compared to what I'm buying it locally for. I'm surprised no one offered a free shipping deal over the holidays. I also got a free buysnus keychain in the box.

Has anyone else noticed how crazy the per can price is on snus on the various websites? It amazes me how much the snus has increased in price over the past two or three years. It almost forces you to order by the roll. The general mint is now coming in two five can rolls even though they sell them as ten in a roll. I ran into the same thing buying locally. I asked for a roll and they handed me five cans shrink wrapped.

Hitt, I hope you feel much better soon. It sucks you have to work today. We got today and tomorrow off, so only a two day week. Last week we were supposed to work Monday(Christmas Eve), but we talked to boss into giving us off Monday and working Friday(our regular day off.

I've noticed the price increase as well. That's part of the reason I mainly use Thunder. I'm not surprised the sites aren't offering free shipping. It is expensive shippping UPS. We just got our order in. Four rolls of Thunder Original. In the last order I got a roll of General long and strong. I like it, but I wish the bergamont flavor was a little stronger. On the next order I'll get some more. It's a nice change once in a while from TO.

Since Sherry worked ten hours yesterday, I spent the day watching the Dark Knight Trilogy with the Packer game in between. Very good movies. Not on par with the Avengers, but still very good. It was the first time I had seen any of them entirely.

    Just relaxing here with:

Thanks skrymr. I've been watching the Walking Dead series on netflix lately. I burned thru all the sons of anarchy episodes and was looking for something new. I thought for sure that the boss would let us go early today but it doesn't look like it since we're still here.

How is your mom doing? I hope well.

Back to work, that should straighten out your health. I hear you on the price of snus. Fortunately, I'm in a position that I can wait them out for the good deals, but it certainly makes it harder for those wanting to try different stuff. Thank you government for doing everything possible to keep people smoking while complaining about its impact on society.

I've gone to total sickness on the internet route of streaming video. While I was fooling with the MK808, I also decided to finally root my phone and play with that. I found an app that allowed me to give me an un-docked Net Top. The phone now sends the video to a TV either as a projector of what's on my phone or as a monitor with the smartphone acting as the mouse and keyboard. I had football on my 50in. TV in mute while watching Netflix on a 46in that I picked up a year or so ago when my LR TV went down.

I even have better remotes on the smartphone to control FIOS and my WD TV Live box than the original remotes for the devices.

Hitt, Mom is doing well. The doc says it will be a year or more for a full recovery, but the prognosis is good.

Roth, I like tech, but my most recent acquisition was an android phone. I'm sure I'm not even scratching the surface of what that can do. But at least I can make a phone call....

Happy New Year everyone. And Happy Birthday Axl. I hope you had a great one.
