Boy did I hit the jackpot. My neighbor passed away earlier this year and her house was for sale. I saw someone take the for sale sign down a week or so ago and people moving in over the last week. I haven't been able to catch them to introduce myself (afternoon shift strikes again) but my wife made it over there yesterday.

The husband is a professional BBQer and owns a food truck he operates in one of the Flint suburbs outside a brewery. His wife is a "big shot" at the Flint cultural center that oversees the museums, art/music centers and planetarium. My normally socially awkward wife managed to somehow be super charming and related our love of BBQ, craft beer, and cultural stuff. They said they were probably going to be fully moved in about a month, so my wife offered our help moving things joking that we are the young folks in the neighborhood by like 20 years. Apparently he pays in beer and BBQ which is just fine by me.

The only downside is now I have massive smoker envy, my little electric smoker has nothing on his which is a 16 foot trailer...

    Somewhere between here and there
My neighbor behind me has one of those big smokers on a trailer. The only time I see him use it is when he has his yearly block party that I'm no longer invited to. Evidently I made him mad when he was on the homeowners board. I'm ok with it since we never really talked much anyway.

Homeowner's Boards (I've never attended a meeting) sound frightening and in my imagination TERRIFYING like you'd be lucky not to be murdered.

I'm sure some folks get elected because they don't suck and everything but I feel there is this HUGE swath of people who just want the power and like, the ability to tell their neighbors how to LIVE. I mean.... this one dude, in our HOA, who grew roses which like WHO DOES that in Tucson had this great big expensive car, and like two other muscle cars in his driveway and I hit it one time and we had asked him like 50 times to MOVE IT because it was a) blocking a fire hydrant an b) most of the road and c) parked illegally way too close to the corner.

That was one time I did NOT back down, I insisted the police come to asses it. They took their time about it and insurance companies were called and they decided to split the difference.

I STILL would never eat any of that dude's food, EVER (if he's still alive) and it wasn't the CAR exactly (although it did suck) but more he had been HARRYING us for like, a LONG time about various stuff. I asked the husband to get him to move it because it looked like prime "Anna hitting material" to me (I guess I had a premonition) but it wasn't on purpose.

If your neighbor wants to be like that, his problem.

Off to luminosity again. I've been making too many mistakes lately and I decided I needed more brain exercises. Weakest in problem solving and memory at the start which explains a lot. lol FC, thanks again for that numeric keypad you sent me. It's coming in handy.

Yeah, between my order screw up and the last mistake I made on my canopy which I didn't mention before.

I ran wire rope to hold it down during the winter. Instead of extending it out, away from the frame, I decided to run them in so that there would be no trying over then. I did holes and planted PVC and stakes into concrete in the front.

When I got to the back, I did the same, except on the outside. This I had to dig three more holes, get more connecte and run them on the outside.

    Oh well....

Nice setup you got there NR. My neighbor has a roof over his grill on one side of his deck that's pretty awesome also.

I'm skittish about leaving my grills/smoker outside being that we live 15 minutes from one of the highest crime cities in the state. Stuff gets stolen out of yards/cars pretty regularly a mile away from my place and I don't want to risk it.

Here's my smoker when it was nice and new and clean. I thought the window was going to be great but it gets covered with smokey juice within 30 minutes and you can't see through it anyway.

Quite a setup there. My grill/smoking career ended over a decade ago. When her kids moved out all that was left was me and someone that doesn't like bbq/smoked food. I have a Weber rotting away and at least a 40 year old Green Egg that I really should clean up, look for cracks and repair, paint and put on Craigslist. Those things, maintained, last forever. It was looking pretty rough awhile back and I had it looking sweet, but by no there are probably wasp nests in it.

And speaking of those pesky stingers, thank you Bees $ Co. I bought an outfit on Amazon to attack my yellow jacket problem in the woodshed. With some trepidation, I suited up this morning and started unstacking down to where I ID'd them entering and exiting. When I got close, the army came out and I started spraying. I could hear them but didn't see them around me and with long pants, long sleeves and the suit, not a sting.

Nice looking smoker. Yes, smoker windows never work out so swell.

My DC is a 'pellet' smoker. It's small and comes with legs that I've removed. Can be used on a tailgate or stored in a camper. Size wise, it's perfect for one or two people.

Runs off 12v or 110v. Black box on the side is for the pellets and the controller board. It has WIFI! Set it and forget it!

The WIFI is so cool! It even has a server mode that allows you to manipulate the smoker from anywhere in the world with a smartphone/tablet! Soooo much easier to use than my Weber Smoky Mountain. (in the middle of the pic)

My first 2 smokes. A meatloaf and a chicken. Both were excellent. :)

Provari Radius. I'm a MTL-er and someone sent me a P 2.5 dragon and got hooked.

It is definitively dead, but I was able to switch my Kabuki tank to a P3 I was considering selling (I'm glad I didn't now) and it was a big motivator to a) finally cave to a coffee cup with a lid (I hate them, but with my fine motor tremor they are helpful) and b) recoil and rewick every RTA I had (again with snus) and put away all my build tools that I don't need cluttering up my coffee table.

It looks really different in here. I really need to get a coffee cup with a lid and just embrace the fact that my fine motor tremor sucks, especially with a large cup of coffee with no lid, etc.

I mean, maybe at some point I will get it repaired, but also, maybe at some point I will accept that I have a disability (I do pretty good avoiding it usually) except for a) taking photos and b) like, carrying a gigantic cup of coffee and not spilling it/etc and that I am disabled enough that maybe, oh, well, I need to Suck Up the Lid part.

    My arms are fine. LOL.
