I've never owned an apple computer myself but both of the kids were given macbooks all through high school by the school to use during the school years so they were both used to it. My oldest daughter's MacBook air lasted almost six years. I think it's a fluke that my youngest daughter's broke already. All four of us have had very good luck with iphones over the years. The iphones I've had have outlasted any android phone that I've had before. I'm not sure how the newer ones are since I still have an iPhone 7. I don't replace my phone unless it stops working.

Darn Hitt, it seems like just a couple years ago you got that dog. Time's traveling quickly. Waho, I've never had a dog that lasted that long. Thirteen seems to be the limit for me but I've got hope that Jackson will outdo that as he's getting close. I've noticed it takes him a bit more effort to get up off the floor but so do I.

    Hitt, does this help?

I am hoping that they replace ours under warranty. I definitely don’t want to pay 500 to get it fixed. It was 1499 retail but we got it on a back to school special for 1099.

We commonly joke about how she'll outlive us all because she's gotten into a myriad of "never give this to dogs" stuff in sometimes large quantities and shows no ill effects.

I'll try to keep this the least gross as I can, but our vet gave us some omega 3/fish oil type pills for her to help with joint pain and whatnot. We've noticed her "business" has been a little loose/runny and was told that was possible/normal. Then today while at work my wife calls in a panic because the dogs "business" was pretty bloody. Our normal vet was closed so she took her to the walk in vet. Turns out those fish oil pills were making her feel like she had to go when she really didn't so much and she gave herself doggy hemorrhoids straining.

This same dog who's eaten two pans of brownies at once, over a dozen chicken wings complete with hot sauce, bushels of grapes etc brought down by a fish oil pill.

Hitt, how old is it? From my understanding this isn't a warranty issue, it's a recall issue.

Darn Waho, sounds like me a couple weeks ago but with the opposite problem. I waited until I saw blood and convinced myself to go to the drug store and loosen things up. lol Poor dog.

It was a year old on June 12. I'm hoping either hers falls under the recall or they count it as warranty since the Apple stores were closed for a long time and my wife has been trying to get an appointment on and off for a week or two. They must be really backed up after being closed.

Hitt, I think you should be good to go. I think the I'd fill in the form he talked about in the video as soon as possible or contact them. You do have a good case with the closings over the last several months even if it's not a recall thing.

I've gotten totally used to my new keyboard arrangement since I lost the "e" key. It really sounded like the Apple keyboard issue was a lot like mine with it not working or multiple e's with a single tap until it finally stopped working completely. As long as no more act up, I should be good for awhile.

Hopefully got the last of trouble in three's.

My wife called me last night about 10 minutes before the end of my shift saying septic water backed up into the house. I get home and sure enough, our 3rd pump in 6 years died.

The company that was doing all my plumbing stuff over the years angered me over a warranty repair on my water softener so I called a mom and pop septic company this morning. He said he was on his way to a job and had a graduation party to make an appearance at, but would squeeze me in between. Apparently the other job wasn't ready for him so he turned around and showed up to my place an hour later. Was done replacing my pump 2 and a half hours after my initial call (the previous company was always at least 72 hours before I could flush toilets/shower/wash dishes etc) and charged 75% LESS than the other company.

The only remaining issue was my power box by the pump was reading 110v with a meter but the pump wouldn't kick on when plugged in. Figured the outlet was corroded and said I'd do it myself today and just use an extension cord meanwhile. Got new weather resistant box/outlet from Home Depot and replaced it, plug in pump, nothing. Reading 1v at the outlet. Take entire box back apart and reads 1v at the wires. Check the panel and it's feeding 120v just fine. I'm too irritated currently to trace where the wire runs and see if there's not a loose connection in a junction box somewhere, but hopefully it's just that and I don't have to dig up and replace that wire due to age related brittleness.

Is it a buried line to the pump outlet. Problems like yours are why I always test receptacles on the equipment I work on with something that pulls a load like a grinder. I had a big diesel welder come in on a trailer years ago and just checked the outlets with a meter. The customer took it out of town and I got an angry call that it wasn’t working. That was the first time that happened and last time I just checked one with just a meter.

Yep, buried line from the garage out to the pump crock.

I found the conduit where it exits the garage and goes underground, and opened up the junction box thats inside the garage. Everything looked unburnt and the wire nuts are tight. I grabbed my outlet checker and it's reading that there's no power at that junction box or from the ceiling where the wire enters from the attic. Double checked the breaker and it's still on.

Now I'm wondering if there's a loose connection in my panel or if that breaker is shot.

Edit - Now thinking about it, that outlet runs through my generator interlock. Could be a breaker/connection in there potentially.

Edit 2 - Yep, breaker in the interlock was tripped. All's well again. Nothing worse than spending $100 calling an expert and having them shake their head in disappointment but I avoided that today thankfully.

Waho, so was the old pump bad that tripped the breaker? I'm assuming that's public sewer that requires a pump to get the sewage out to the street? I've only had public sewer a few years when I first got married and only had sewer problems there when the house I rented out had a pipe running to the street break. The carriage house I lived in never had any issues. The house I grew up in, the house my wife got when we divorced and my current place all had septic systems.

Glad you found the issue quickly. Nothing worse than septic system issues.

My system has a pump between the tank and leech field since the tank is right outside my walkout basement door and the field is up on the hill.

The old pump fried itself as one of the cable clamps on the check valve broke and the pump outlet slipped out, so it was just recirculating water until it burned up. I'm not sure when the interlock breaker tripped as the septic guy was getting 120v out there but the pump wouldn't run.

Septic issues are new to me as well. My parents only ever had issues once when I was growing up due to the tank not having been pumped out in 40+ years. My wife's family had a main break under their yard which the village replaced.

In talking to the septic guy, he's thinking the reason my pumps keep dying (outside of this fluke) is my pump crock is maybe 100 gallons. The pumps are built to run once a day pumping ~300 gallons, where my setup is more along the lines of pumping 30 gallons 10 times. He suggested, if we're not planning on moving, to at some point in the future to think about digging that crock up and replacing it with a 500 gallon unit setup to run once a day or so. That would more than likely get us to the 10 year expected life of these pumps.

Otherwise, we could spend 10 times as much digging a new field where our pool used to be so that it could gravity feed and we'd never have to worry about the pump again.

I was at nearly 40 years and as far as I know (only the first 16 weren't mine) mine was never emptied until a pvc pipe broke and I had to have it finally pumped. Then I dug down to the broken pipe after the septic guys told me where the problem was. It was kind of amazing watching them find where the break was and mark it with a flag for me to use as a guide in digging. They were right on where the fracture was.

We had a lab mix like that. That dog ate a bottle of ibuprofen and a Tomcat rodent bait chunk. That month of Vitamin K treatment was fun.......and expensive.

Well, we took the MacBook to the Apple store and it would have been a free repair if there hadn’t been something spilled inside. My daughter swears she didn’t but she was not getting along with her roommates before leaving college and we’re guessing one of them spilled something on it either accidentally or not. The manager at the store said it’s actually a very common occurrence and he hears it quite often. Anyway, it’s not cost effective to fix so we ordered a refurbished one from Apple and I paid the extra for the Apple care warranty. This will keep us under warranty for the next three years until she finishes college. After that it’s her nickel if she wants a new one.

The way I understand it is that it could cost as much as 299 for something like that with the warranty. Other accident damage is 99. Normal failures are covered. It seems like any repair on these starts at around 500 so it will pay for itself if we have one failure or accident.
