Good morning. It's supposed to be about a hundred again today. I took the kids the other day to get some fireworks. I concentrated mostly on ones that don't shoot anything in the air. I'm a little concerned with things being so dry. The neighbors down on the corner from me always have an all day knock down, drag out fireworks party. I doubt that they will scale back any.

Mornin', folks. I finally slept a full 7 hours last night!!! I got a memory foam mattress from the Wally World to replace the 15+ year old king I was suffering with. What a difference! My bad shoulder is still giving me grief this morning, but NO BACK PAIN!!!! YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!! I figure I'll fix that by moving some hay around and doing some work on the barn roof today. :)

I'm gonna be close to home today because we are expecting brush fires from the very dry conditions and fireworks / bonfires. Maybe I'll fill the dog's kiddie pool and let her lounge around in her yard today.

Hope everyone has a safe holiday.

Hitt, you're not thinking about those fireworks. When the neighbor starts firing of those missiles and hits your house, you'll have no defense. Think of it as US/Soviet relations during the cold war. buy SOME MISSILES!

We're hitting triple digits today also, not looking forward to 4PM.

    FC, enjoy that mattress!

Good morning. FC, for heavens sake why don't you take it easy once.

Roth, the kids and I loaded up on fireworks pretty good. We got a few shooters but mostly fountains. I just set up the kiddie pool for the youngest and her friend. I'm surprised that they don't think they are too old for it. It's one of those rectangular four by eight blow up pools.

Good morning. Axl I'm not real big on crowds myself. We had a good time doing fireworks last night and there were no major mishaps. The one neighbor down the street did catch a little bit of grass on fire but quickly got it put out.

In the true tradition of Independence Day, a fellow walked into the place I was playing poker and told us the 4th earned him an $800 fine for fireworks. Some municipalities just don't understand tradition or are just filling their budget gaps. Break out the sparklers, about the only thing legal in the birthplace of the nation.

Still overheating here, but not as bad as other places so I'm thankful. Anyone close to Fort Leonard Wood? The gf's son just arrived there after a year in Cuba. I wonder which is hotter?

I don't recall who brought up the Tor browser, but I want to thank them. A newspaper that I've been following articles on just went to being a pay site after 15 reads a month. Tor gives me a work around since it presents different identity
    on demand.

Roth, Fort Leonard Wood is in Missouri. I'm not sure how far it is from us but our weather is still hovering around 100 each day.

Fireworks aren't allowed in Kansas City either but no one enforces it that I know of. Probably the only time someone would get in trouble here is if they started a fire or someone got hurt.

Yesterday was just plain brutal. 102 degrees, working the grills and selling brats, burgers, hot dogs, and corn for 14 hours.Every year we get less and less help. By the end of the night I was crabby as he!!. It was Sherry, my son and his girlfriend and me. My parents work the bar inside, with a couple guy's helping bartend. I told them at the end of the night, we will set up and work until 7 pm next year, but they have to find someone to take over and finish the night after that. If they don't find someone we will shut it down at 7. I've been dong it with my family for about 15 years, and I really enjoy it. I just wish we could get some help. Especially with the clean up. That is the worst part of it for us.

I have to give the Germantown, WI fire department credit. They were out every day for a week in close to 100 degree temps (including yesterday) hosing down fields and tree's so we could have fireworks safely.

On a positive note, we got one of our new chairs today. Sherry's chair finally gave up the ghost, so we went out to find her a new one. We ended up getting two new La-Z-Boy king size recliners. This chair is huge, which will be great for me.But Sherry is only 5'1", and she really looks tiny in it, but she really loves it. Mine will be here in a few weeks. I can't wait. I have never had brand new furniture. It has alway's come from relatives, or second hand stores.

Skrymr that sounds like a pretty tough day. Fourteen is way too many hours anyway but doing it in the heat is crazy. My work has been slow the past few days and I'm hating it. The first day or two was a nice break from the chaos that had been going on the past two or three months but now I'm ready to get things moving again. Hopefully things will start coming in soon.

Baling out isn't much of an option. If we just leave then it is my Parents, and a few 80+ year old world war two vets to do the work. The younger guy's just want the free parking without any effort. It's a tough situation. My Mom is the hall manager and she ask's me to bartend a few time's a year. It used to be much more often but she was told to let the membership work too. The problem is none of the membership wants to help. So She and my Dad are pretty much stuck doing more themselves. It's a crappy situation.

Hitt, I hope work picks up again for you.

Just got done with dinner. Brats on the grill.... It's still hot as hades outside. I hope everyone is doing ok in this heat wave.

You are almost shouting distant from me Skrymr. I have been through German town a few times, though I don't believe I ever stopped. Spent the forth trying to keep the garden from wilting. The tomatoes are going nuts, alone with basil. Way more basil then we can eat.

I avoided the hundred thousand folks or so that go to the local fireworks. I did that once..... and that was the first and last time.

Nothing new here, and that's good

11 days to the new central air. I got lucky and they were able to shift an appointment around where one install was still operational or it would have been the end of the month or Aug. I'm thankful. I also had to order three new Anderson screens. The older ones needed screening, but it was discovered that the plastic corners were breaking and not replaceable. Still another hit to the pocketbook.

Nothing else happening except trying to stay cool.
