Where Are We Not Welcome to Vape?

I understand some place won't allow vaping. Anyone have experience with this? Has made me think twice about taking my best friend out in public!

I'm a little shy anyway and try to avoid confrontation with people I don't even know, not worth upsetting myself.

So far, I've just been stealth vaping, as I've no desire to be an unpaid volunteer soldier in a cultural war.

I just want steady nicotine plasma levels, to be honest!

BUT, stealth vaping is INCREDIBLY easy, and I've stealth vaped in an upscale restaurant, a movie theater (YES!), the post office, and standing in line at the bank.

The only iffy moment so far this week was when I was letting out a huge cloud of vapor in my car, while unnoticed, a state police car was right next to me at the light. Saw him staring intently, so I just held up my eGo for him and smiled innocently. He gave me a suspicious frown but went on his way.

I have a feeling I'm going to have some problems when vaping while driving. Here in Arkansas, it's illegal to smoke in your car if you have passengers under the age of 6. I want to say they can pull you over for it even without any other violations.

My 4 year old is always with me as I'm out and about doing my daily errands and the like. Not looking forward to my first encounter with a cop who has no idea what a PV is.

I decided when I started Vaping that I would only Vape in places where you could smoke. But, Last night when I walked into Sams club here in Melbourne Florida I was taking my last vape and started to put it away when the door greeter said; "you can use your E cig here" WoW I was floored that she even knew what it was and more impressed that I could use it in the club. The Pharmasist congradulated me as well. I think the general public will support vaping. So I came to the conclusion that I will just start asking Managers if I can Vape in thier places. I just dont want to throw any fuel on the fire for the nay sayer's. As far as leaving my "new best freind at home" not gonna happen too many smokers out there to give me cravings, I will always be armed with my PV. Just my two cents.

I have vaped in many public situations and so far have received only positive feedback with one exception and that was a personal situation that was quickly resolved.

I have vaped in hospitals, airports, restaurants, and amazingly vaped at a Cancer Society fund raising event. I must say that although the ACS has publicly come out against PVs, that members at this event were very supportive and wanted more information.

The only small issue I have had was one night at a neighborhood gathering where I always urge others to let me know if my vape bothers them, there was one who didn't like that particular juice aroma (it was quite strong DK tobacco juice). I changed over to English Toffee and she was quite amazed at how pleasant it was.

Good luck to everyone and I have found that courtesy and informed comments go a long way.

And also, when we hear of places like this that are supportive, we should not only share the info, but support that business. $$$ talks, as we know.

In most cases (public establishments) I treat vaping like smoking: Don't vape where they don't allow smoking (which is any public indoor facility here). However, there are situations where I can and often will vape where you normally couldn't but can get away with it. Steal vaping, for example, is easy and I can do it wherever I want as long as I'm relatively circumspect. But at people's houses who don't allow smoking I can often vape, and I can also do it at my desk at work -- my boss is totally okay with it and supportive of my switch. Public bathrooms I find it's okay to vape because as long as others don't see the vapor they'll never detect it.

There's a long way to go before we can vape openly without being cast the same scorn as a smoker; until the majority of people at least know of the difference, it will still be regarded no differently.

You can print out some literature and carry it in the car with you. Just think of the law suite you can file if they arrest you.

Thanks! Much good info here. I had no idea that people could smell the juice! I'm using fruit flavors so hopefully they will be considered pleasant.

As for smoking in the car, I got an idea ... cut a whole in bottom of a small durable plastic cup, let about 1/2 filter poke out, and 'drink' from bottom side, LOL. Surely cops don't have that gooda eyes when you're both in cars!

I would let them arrest me, and file a harassment lawsuit after they let me go. I got a HUGE deal from vaping in the dropoff at my kids school. It is not against the law here, but people are not afraid to call you all kinds of names. I let them harass me, then politely said "this is a personal vaporizer, not a cigarette. Would you like to see my VA prescription card?" No, I do not have a prescription for nicotine, but I did not say that I did. I just asked if they wanted to see my prescription card. I never said what the prescription was for.

The next day my son came home with a letter from the principle saying that they were sorry for harassing me, to accept their apology, and that I could vape in the drop off.

I used this same line at Disney, and Sea World this summer also, Instant apology both times, and they never wanted to see the prescription card

I don't even think about it anymore. I stealth vape to avoid hassles if I think it might come up, but I vape pretty much everywhere I go. I rarely vape tobacco flavors anymore, so I'm thinking most ppl think someone in the vicinity is chewing gum or drinking Dr. Pepper or something. If they don't see it, and don't smell it, it ain't happening.

There's a little local bar that is totally cool with me vaping openly; never have an issue. Been vaping for 4 months now, and I have yet to run into a health-Nazi. Of course, I *am* in Louisiana...

If you find a store or whatnot that allows you to vape, I would run off an email/letter to their corporate office and let them know how much it's appreciated. Let them know that you will gladly continue doing business with them.

People are quick to let their displeasure be known but they don't often thank businesses when they do something correctly or above & beyond.
