I think the clever contests are where the vendor tells us to mention something (anything) from their website! It gets us to look them over many times and perhaps in some cases prompts people to buy from them regardless of winning a contest! Even more clever when the vendor picks lots and lots of posts to send free samples to (and sends the winning poster a PM to be sure they know they have won)

I think short and sweet contests are the best. Not one's that drags out for a month like some are doing now.

Like pick numbers that will be winners and let everyone go at it. Those are fun for everyone.
