It can be a little intimidating. It sort of sounds like the argument, why do people buy packaged cigarettes rather than rolling their own. Some people are more about convenience than they are about cost-efficiency and effectiveness.
Just me, vaping isn't a hobby nor do I ever want to become one.
I have far more important/valuable things to do with my time than to fiddle around with vaping stuff.
The amount I spend on replacement heads and the pre made juices I like is insignificant in comparison to what I used to spend on cigarettes.
What we (both my wife & I) spend on pre made juice & replacement heads in a months time is about the same as what I alone used to spend on cigarettes in a week to maybe 10 days.
I have rda/rta/rba's , various wicking materials & various wire, most of the time it all sits in a drawer unused. Occasionally I'll build something, mostly to remind myself why I don't.
I've tried my hand at DIY juice, no thanks.
I completely support & understand that some folks enjoy the hobbyist / DIY side of vaping but it isn't for me or everyone.
No different than many wouldn't want to participate in hobby's I enjoy.
To each their own, enjoy what ever blows your skirt up and don't worry about what others do.
Lifetime supply : Kanthal Wire 26 Gauge RW0159 - 100 Ft 0.98oz Series A-1 Resistance AWGFirst, vaping is not just a hobby, it is a replacement for smoking.
Second, not everyone buys way way way overpriced juice.
Third, not everyone has the eye sight and/or coordination to build coils...Wire is tiny, the holes in the posts are tiny and, hell, even the 22mm deck is tiny to me, I can do it, but it is a major PITA for me
So if I can spend $10-15 for 5 premade coils that will last me 10-15 weeks, damn right I'm going that route
Why do people go out to eat, food is cheaper when you make it yourself...even cheaper when you kill it yourself
Why do some people continue to buy premade coils and juice?
i built my own zippo.....worked better and saved my a ton of money.....I rarely eat out for the same reason.
Good food is hard to find, and we know what we are eating at home.
It's better made and better quality.
I actually DIY anything I can (within reason).
Why not?
I have the ability, it saves a ton of money, it's always better quality, and I know what I have.
I prefer zippo over Bic.
I'm personally not a fan of a disposable lifestyle.

Yeah, but if you weren't mixing your own lighter fuel, you weren't doing it righti built my own zippo.....worked better and saved my a ton of money.....![]()
I'd sneak into airports and siphon it out of jets....not sure if that counts.Yeah, but if you weren't mixing your own lighter fuel, you weren't doing it right![]()
When I build a coil it lasts me about 3 months, costs me less than $0.03 and is made of higher quality kanthal than anything premade, tuned exactly to the way I want to vape.
Juice cost me about $1 for 120ml of better quality juice than one can buy at any price.
I have a kid too. Not my first.
If I can keep him out of the bleach and cleaning products, a bottle of nic obviously isn't too hard.
I stopped smoking to break the financial tether, not to be bound by a new one.
Yes, to each their own.
OTOH - I paidHow many people in the world vape? How many even know that places like ecf even exist?
Most these days walk into the same place they bought cigarettes, and buy whatever disposable they happen to have on the shelf.
To them that stuff in the cartridge/bottle is some magical stuff that keeps the from smoking a cigarette. That's all they know, and all they care about.
They don't even know that DIY is possible. And, if they do know that DIY is possible, they think that you need a bunch of expensive lab equipment to do it.
And we certainly help with that perception.

Fair enough. Why do people buy premade juice and coils?
Because they can.
There's nothing wrong with purchasing ejuice, but I make 90ml for under $5.00 and money isn't an issue for me. I just like knowing what is actually in my ejuices.I pay $21 for 90ml that tastes great. Not worth the trouble of making it yet.
