Bloody Hell!!!!

Yep... And that is why I kinda Snicker when I hear people today posting about a Display being .01 Ohms off. Or there being a 1/2 Millimeter Gap between their Atty and their "Mod". And their Bent over it.

They don't know How Good they've got it. And how Primitive some stuff was "Back in the Day".

LOL

At one time ECF was the happening place for people making their own mods. From battery boxes bought from Radio Sack with 3 AA batteries to flashlights being modified into vaping devices. Everyone was modifying something. It just kinda stuck.

I think that is where the term mods came from, like BreSha6869 said
Kinda a "Band-Aid, Xerox and Kleenex kinda thing, maybe?

It became a generic name for the e-cig, PV, vapor or whatever you want...lol

Now, this is just my opinion.

I must admit I'd forgotten how bad some people's devices were back then. Probably because I was very happy with my M401s & M402s. Remember the all the fuss when Trogg introduced the world to the Screwdriver? It was the best thing since sliced bread. Shame TW got involved.

In a way, it was a Magical Time.

Because Most stuff just didn't work all that well, so there were Ideas Popping Up left and Right on how to make something Better. Or to Do something Out of the Box.

Be it a Fluval or a Pyramid Tea Bag Wick, or using a BD Syringe Body on a CE2, or Filing this or Changing an O-Ring on that, It made people Think up New Ideas.

I think my local pet shop wondered what the hell I was doing with all the Fluval I bought.

Yep... Just like my Grocery Store was kinda Freaked Out when I'm down in the tea aisle measuring Tea Bags with a Vernier Caliper.

Because if people ask me what I am holding and I say "WISMEC Reuleaux RX200 TC Express Regulated Device" they would be running away screaming calling me a terrorist! LOL
That's why I just use the term remote detonator.

If they ask, it's steam powered and they might want to move.

My neighbor saw me with a mech and asked what it was. I said pipe bomb, wanna see? Pressed the fire button so it puffed out a little and tossed it at him. He knew I vaped, but the look on his face for that first split second was priceless.
