Why don't we have a Kayfun (any version, originals and clones) owners group?

I copied a build from another thread (two parallel 32 awg kanthal wires wrapped 6 times (12 wraps total) and I'm vaping on it for two days now... Really really nice... Tremendous vapor and good taste. Vapor does seem colder. Try it, you will love it.

It's parallel not twisted.

I love the duals in the kayfun and also feel that the vape isn't as warm as a single of the same resistance. I know most think of duals as a much warmer vape but I don't see it. I also run duals in the aqua (well because it's dual coil native) and the vape on it is not as warm as a single coiled kayfun. Now maybe in drippers and super low resistances, the duals may be a much warmer vape but imo in bottom coil tanks, duals seem to me, cooler

Well, for the same resistance you have twice the surface area so if you don't crank up the watts, they are not going to hot up that much.
I think I'm going to try make a double barrel or maybe a twisted coil, don't know... Maybe a twisted if I figure out how to make them twist evenly lol

Tony, I guess you have an electric drill at home. Place an eyelet screw in the chuck, in place of the drill bit.

Pass your Kanthal through it, double and fix at the other end with vise grip plyers. Have somebody pull on the vise grip and slowly pump on the drill switch until it's tight enough.

Five minute job.

Thank you very much for the detailed and ilustrated explanation :)

Actually I have everything you listed... I'm kinda the right tool for each job kinda guy :)

One question though... How will I know it's twisted enough before it breaks?

I'm kinda itching to make a coil that looks like a jewel lol and those twisted wraps are just sexy ;)

Thx again

Just go easy and slow so it's uniform and keep the other end pulled tight. It will be correct when it breaks from the drill end. :) I'm away from home and don't have tools nor enough Kanthal or I'd film a clip. OTOH, you can check Rip Trippers video. I think it's exactly what you want.

Yeah. It's nearly 20:30 here so I was wondering what kind of job you have... Night watchman? ;)
On the video I linked sidebar you will find another for a twisted triple 32. Check that too. I've done a quad twist 36 as well. Complicated! :)

PS, for those having trouble doing a simple single coil build on a Kayfun, this Rip Trippers video is as simple as it gets for a 1.3Ω build —IMHO perfect for any Kayfun. I still prefer my toothpick method to the drill bit tho but his build is just classroom material.

Lol. Unfortunately I have a regular 8 to 5 job and then I'm also a trainer so that's another 3 hours. It's because I hardly have time during the day, that I do all this crazy stuff at night when the wife and kids are asleep :)

I was doing some math and if I go down the twisted 29 gauge route, I will need to increase the wattage quite a lot which is not good for my short setup. Have to make the math for 32 gauge and see if I manage to heat up that coil decently at 10—15 watts

Ok guys, couldn't help myself and I did a twisted 32 gauge coil on lunch time... Came out higher than I expected but still OK (1.8 ohm)

Haven't had time to test it though as my nano tank cracked horizontally... I must have a tank cracker e juice but have no idea which as I have been playing with juices in the last couple of days...

Anyway, here the pics :

Did a few test draws at 16w and plenty of vapor.

If your only going to be pushing 10 to 15 watts then 2 strands of 32g twisted is the max I would use. Twisted 32g is really close to using single 28g.

Yes. I only did it because of the cool looking coil lol
I normally use 29 gauge for my coils but they are too easy to make :)

The vape is really good though. I dare to say better than my 29g builds... I wonder why?
I get thicker and more vapor out of this coil at the same 10w setting

I could push it up to 30w but... I have more than I need with 10w... I already need to be careful not to haze my view while driving with closed Windows lol

I agree, I love the twisted 32g. I always have one of my kayfuns set up with dual twisted 32g and love it. my diameters are a little smaller with 8 wraps for a total resistance of .8 to .9 ohms.
