It's not really about burning the cotton. Basically, it's designed to keep the wick wet, preventing dry hits and keeps the vape cool (or hot, if that's what you prefer) while using less power. It's not necessary at all if you know how to vape without getting dry hits but it is more energy/juice efficient. So that's less time recharging batteries and refilling the tank and more time enjoying your vape and making the juice you have last longer.
I thought it was just for new vapers or those who go nuts with power and can't avoid dry hits... If one knows their equipment and juice, seems useless...
It kinda is for experienced vapors. I still wanna get one though just to see how power/juice consumption is versus my regular setup. Even though you can make gallons and gallons of DIY juice for pennies on the dollar. I'm still so frugal my wife thinks I'm part Jewish so I want to at least try it.
Doesn't the wire cost more, which would negate any tiny amount of savings in e-liquid? There's also the cost of buying a new mod...
Not really. You can find 100' spools of Ni200 wire for about $6 which is about $1-2 more than I pay for the same amount of Kanthal.

)25.4 mm = 1 inch makes that an easy conversion. 10 CM = 100 MM = 4 inches. But I think linear distance in metric so I don't convert.

TC allows you to run a coil & wick HARD without risk of heating it to the point that it will scorch your wick or "cook" your juice. That reduces potential hazards while making coils and wicks last longer.

We were supposed to change to the metric system in 1980. Yes, the costs in machining would have been high, but it could've been done little by little. Its 2015 and here we are still doing everything the difficult way. And people are still afraid of the metric system.
That's why they taste better...
Repeatable and precise. I don't have two cups at home that hold the same amount of liquid.
Didn't Boeing adopt metric tons for fuel a few years ago? It used to be lbs?
