I'm not fed up with all of you. Just most of you.

I joined in 2011, have been vaping 3 years now. When I started, the cartomizer had just been invented, people were still for the most part using egos and cigalikes and the variable voltage mods has just taken off.

Now, vaping has descended into something that borders on the absurd and ridiculous. I cannot belong to any groups on facebook any longer because its filled with sub ohmnig, cloud chasing ...... who MUST have enough vape from three drags so that their living room resembles an Ozzy concert circa 1987.

I like the idea of building and rebuilding coils. There's a clear point to it. It's economical and you aren't dependent on a vendor for very long stretches of time. But does anyone need a .07 ohm coil? What exactly is a dragon coil? What is a nano coil? I quit caring or keeping up with it because after a certain point, its just too much vapor. I saw a jamoche today who had built something with 8 coils. EIGHT!!

My step-daughter attends LSU. She tells me that vaping on the campus has recently been banned outright. Not just inside but all over the entire campus. Why? Because college age vaping tards began flouting the "no smoking" policy by blowing giant clouds in the air and making a spectacle of themselves. Is there a health hazard here? most likely not, but it's still distracting.

Everyplace I go now there are poorly dressed, tattooed, pierced hipsters who've taken over and co-opted vaping. They are all snobby about it too, mentioning how great they are at sub-ohm coil building and flashing their high end gear. Here's a thought hipster...buy a slightly cheaper mod and maybe you'll be able to afford a bar of soap!

We have now, the FDA about to take away all sorts of rights and so few vapers really care about this. They aren't interested in anything but the equipment and how cool they can look vaping. PUT THE SOLDERING IRONS DOWN AND WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR CONGRESS PERSON.

Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe my inner curmudgeon is emerging. Maybe I'm just a cynic.

Anyway, that's my rant. Flame away.

AND YOU DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN!!

basically it makes a difference b/c obnoxious vapers are the ones responsible for the regulations and public outcry

I agree with just about everything you said... except this. The only ones responsible for the regulations and public outcry are 1) the fascist ANTZ who just HAVE TO have everything their way, who are sure they know EVERYTHING and to hell with any opinion other than their own; 2) the Big Gov't lackeys who are looking after the settlement/tax bottom line; and let's not forget 3) BT and BP who both stand to lose a huge amount of money from smokers switching to vaping. It's about 90% about the money, and about 9% the idiot fascist ANTZ, and then maybe 1% those tattooed, pierced, grody hipsters making obnoxious spectacles of themselves.

But otherwise... agreed. This is really supposed to be about reducing harm to ourselves (and others) by not setting fire to tobacco and breathing the smoke, not about how cool ("kewl?") we can be or what giant clouds we can blow. Cigarette smoke does NOT make "monster clouds" and "monster clouds" are NOT required, for vaping to be a satisfying substitute.

Well, I'm 51... so I'm a youngster... :?:

I'm pretty simple and I believe in this simple philosophy... "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should"

Sub-ohming/huge clouds in public... Not necessary or respectful of others, in my book IMHO. I approach my vaping the same way as when I smoked. Meaning... I try to be very respectful of my surroundings and of those around me.

Sub-ohming/huge clouds at home or in a vapors lounge IMHO... then knock yourself out.

To each their own... but please be respectful of everyone around you... and just remember..."Just because you can, doesn't mean you should"

Just my :2c:

VapeNerd, I agree with you ...........vaping has gone from an instrument for smoking cessation to an "Extreme Sport" if you will.........I will say that i believe its a small element of trend chasers that unfortunately are the most visible , and therefore draw most of the negative attention....my fear is that the end game may very well be that Vaping will be Demonized more than smoking ...........

Reputation is everything when the opposition is looking to tear you down.

I was in a vape store the other day and three employees behind the counter were vaping high watt drippers and trying to outdo each other. I know these guys and usually stand there and talk vaping with them while shopping. I was standing at the counter vaping my Provari and a lowly Kayfun. Suddenly there was this cloud that looked like the store was on fire! It disappeared in about 10 or 15 seconds, but it was huge for that time. In a vape store, it's probably not as bad as doing that in Walmart, but cloud vaping is probably the thing that will become the new mantra of ANTZ. If we are relegated to the outdoors, these will be the ones that the public has to walk through to exit and get to their cars, waving their hands in front of their faces as they walk.

Not trying to scold anyone here, but it's the truth. Vape respectfully and vaping will be accepted. Drag Race with your mods and that will be the impression that people carry around and spout to the masses. Do we want to become the "nasty smokers" of the vape generation?

It would have happened anyway... It just happened sooner this way.

I was floored 2 years ago when someone posted they vaped in the college classroom. At least my flask was an orange juice bottle with just a little vodka inside.

Besides I mostly attended the early classes in my PJs.

Thy hypocrisy of all of this for me is people abuse alcohol and make asses of themselves every day yet the federal government isn't trying to ban alcohol. Oh wait they already tried that. Cloud chasers to me are no different than college kids ....ing beers or making ice sculptures into hard liquor dispensers. It seems to be a "look at me" approach. Unfortunately humankind will always have "look at me" people and during this uncertain time in the world of vaping some of our community will choose "look at me" over being more aware of how their actions may affect us all.

I'm 73 years old, and vaping is about staying alive (and has been from the start). I could care less about trying to impress anyone with huge clouds or outlandish builds. Bottom line is I just don't want to smoke.

On the other hand, vaping does not have to be all about avoiding doom & gloom, why not have a little fun too.

Sounds like you have some anger issues to work out Nerd. I'm sure several years of intense clinical therapy would be of tremendous value for you. Just a thought.

    Or

Live and let live brother, people do what people do and since there are no laws prohibiting what they do with vaping, I'm thinking it's their business. When laws are enacted to prohibit phat cloudz, well... then you can call the police or whatever you want to do. Until then you're howling at the moon.
