These posts really piss me off. I'm 37. I got my ear pierced at 14, first tattoo at 18. Those were a big deal at the time. I also had really long hair, of different color,(s) etc. Now I have two degrees, work in a semi corporate type job, own a home and a car. I still have multiple piercings, and multiple tattoos. I cut my hair because I live in TX, and it's very hot here. what does all of that have to do with vaping????

Absolutely, not one teeny tiny thing. Just like in the OP.

I started with an ego, moved to vv/vw and various tanks, then switched to carto tanks, and then onto rebuildable tanks. Each of these changes improved my experience. I tried several drippers, but it wasn't until I got the stillare that I GOT IT! Now I'm a .3 ohm vaper with tattoos. piercings, a semi corporate job, a house, a car, etc, etc. I also bathe regularly. for the record...

People like you have been judging others and decrying the downfall of civilization since civilization began. The only thing that changes from year to year is the specific gripe. So my questions to you is the same question I would pose to anyone else. Why do you care SOOOOOO much?? Why does it bother you that someone uses something a different way than you do. why do you care about his/her clothes and unwashed hair? How does any of that effect you in any way? It doesn't. But it offends your sensibilities, so it's ok to pass judgement. Like I said, it's been happening since the beginning of time.

Now. Ignorant and downright silly generalizations about those pesky kids with their stupid clothes, and stupid hair aside. Do you really think that ANY of that has ANYTHING at all to do with the FDA? I'm picturing thousands of angry curmudgeons sending off scathing letters via the post office regarding the outbreak of stupid kids in skinny jeans and Wham t-shirts blowing big clouds of whatever that stuff is. The secret red light goes off at the FDA, meetings are held, coalitions are formed, investigations launched... all in the hopes of stomping out those kids. Ridiculous. It's about money, it's about power, and it might have a teeny little bit to do with actual health. This FDA thing has been going on since LONG before YOU started vaping. Remember that little ruling back in 2009????? It wasn't even trendy back then, and sub ohm builds weren't possible because the batteries wouldn't support it.

The ONLY thing I agree with in this entire post, is that not enough people give a crap. Young, and old alike. The turnout for comments to the FDA is in my opinion...pitiful. (I submitted mine, even though I have tattoos and piercings. I didn't see a disclaimer or check box that excluded me.) Personally, I have my doubts about the validity of a comments period anyway, but I did my best, and we shall see.

I leave you with the words to a song by one of my favorite artists Todd Snider.

The Ballad of the Kingsmen.

My two cents

It depends. As much as I don't like high power vapor in your face blowers, the too discrete, low profile isn't good either (community wise speaking). Some time ago I commented on ECF that here in Portugal I've never seen anybody else vape in public or otherwise so basically whenever I vape, people stare at me like if I had a disease or something. HOWEVER, yesterday I realized that in my town (which isn't that big) there are 5 (five!) vaping shops! I mean... If I 'm the only vaper and I buy everything online, then why in earth does my town need all those vaping shops? This afternoon, at a hypermarket, I noticed that a woman in front of me in line had a very small lanyard on her neck with a small white ego and and a CE4 clearo or similar. I smiled as In 4 years I've never seen an e-cig that wasn't mine.

So, bottom line.. Although the community certainly doesn't need bad publicity, it does need to be noticed to eventually be accepted otherwise we risk being marginalized by our own people without even the EU and or FDA moving a finger.

Tony

Nah. Wild, exuberant and rebellious yoots aren't going to affect regs, and they most certainly aren't responsible for them. Those guys have much bigger fish to fry.

It's probably not real healthy, that sub-ohming, but if I were young I'd probably be all over it. Tats, too. There are a lot of creative ways to reject and disassociate from crappy mainstream America, it's always been that way - damned good thing, too. The kids I worry about are the real buttoned up ones. They grow up and become the Very Authoritarian People who want to be in charge of the rest of us. I don't like those old people.

And I'm ooooooooooold. :)

To the OP (and please forgive anything you may mistake as my being an ......., as I am just trying to be matter of fact) My thoughts are that we cannot as a community survive divided. Making posts as you did does nothing whatsoever to help and save vaping. You made that post knowing that you COULD make it because it is how you feel and respond in a given situation, knowing that this community would either hate or love you for it. The point is you still made it as part of this community. The people you refer to ( make no mistake bother me to) do what they do as part of this community, knowing people will either love them or hate them for it. We cannot divide ourselves and hope to make any real progress in the way of stopping the FDA or whatever the challenge may be. You shouldn't write off the whole community due to a small portion of us who bother you. Would you want it that people write us all off because of you making this post and bothering them? My point is you don't have to like or endorse them in any way, hell rant all you want its your right to do so, but don't write off the vaping community because of a few bumps in the road. Now more than ever we need to stick together and support each other because at the end of the day we are all VAPERS. At the end of the day most of us are having our lives saved because of VAPING. At the end of the day there are people out there that need this community in order to fight the good fight and keep on saving there own life. Hell, who knows? Maybe there is someone out there with a question only YOU can answer, and won't be able to because you wrote us all off. I don't mean to be melodramatic and I apologize again, but this is something that sticks very close to my heart. We need to be the change we want to see, and that means we need to be at least tolerant of eachother, if not then how can we expect the FDA or anyone else to be tolerant of us. I wish you the best my friend and know things will work out as they always do. Please don't take this as provocation or insult, I want nothing more than to stay a united front. I mean if we don't have eachothers back, who the hell will?

It is so beautiful when someone who has a complex thought, can actually express it well in the written word. It has become a rara avis in terra.

Being a little nasty here : as I somewhere recently read, at high temperatures, pg (or was it vg?) starts to decompose and produce toxic by products, the OP doesn't have to worry too much as all those tattooed and pierced weirdos that sub Ohm vape giant clouds will be dead in no time.

Only bugger will be if those FDA guys use those cases as proof of any kind of vaping being dangerous and generally bad.

Sorry if I offended someone... My sarcasm can be corrosive sometimes.

First, the OP is not saying that everyone that builds their own coils is a cloud chaser. Nor is he saying that everyone that build their own coils is a young pierced hipster. He's also not saying that every pierced hipster builds coils and is a cloud chaser.

^ This. Flawed inductive reasoning running rampant in this thread.

I would add that painting hipsters and piercing/tattoo culture folks with a wide brush is wrong, but besides the main point, and I think to a degree the OP was exaggerating for effect.

It's the seemingly arrogant pride some people take in their sub-ohm clouds that rubs me the wrong way. People should be free to vape how they want, abso-....ing-lutely, but the in-your-face element is not a matter or freedom or rights, it's a matter of courtesy.

We could remove vaping from this conversation and talk about the people that insist on having a loud party on public transportation, or extremely loud cell phone conversation while standing behind you in line at the grocery store. Again, I'm not saying everyone needs to sit silently on the bus, or can't have a cell phone chat anywhere they please, but they should understand the fact that they are not the only person going about their lives and due consideration for those around you is a reciprocal thing that is necessary in a community.

Whoa de whoa, whoa. While your diatribe is well written, sufficiently indignant, and very entertaining, you are making a rather unqualified leap. Just because you fit some of the criteria the OP was talking about, doesn't mean you are qualified for all. Do you consider yourself a hipster. Do you assault people with vapor clouds and bore them with mod talk until their tears look like raindrops falling from those clouds? I doubt it, so, like obviously he wasn't talking about you. You just might look similar to the iceholes he was talking about.

And generalizations are tricky, and sometimes unfair, but they wouldn't exist as a linguistic model, if they didn't work for the majority of cases. Just because YOU don't foot the bill, doesn't mean they don't exist.

BTW, I don't see squat what those farging iceholes as described by the OP in the OP, have to do with the regulators or any possible legislation. (Unless some one Romulans* Harry Reid right in the face.

* - "Romulans" I don't care if there already is another word for it, I'm coining a new one right here.

Quickly and forcefully blowing vapor against an unyielding surface (especially a person's face) at close range, producing a circular rebound with a billowing ring of vapor, similar to the Romulan Plasma weapon from the TOS episode "Balance of Terror"
Oh, and take that, The Jake Bailey, I nerded all over your post.

Obviously, I didn't read this entire diatribe, but it was clear after the first two sentences that the OP's point has alluded you.

I just wish people would learn to spell discreet. Discrete means something else entirely.

I live in small town Arkansas these days and what gets me is folks who vape in Walt-Mart, restaurants, and other public buildings, without even asking.

Mostly older white males with egos or cig-a-likes. Most hipsters get away from here asap.

I love bands you prolly haven't heard of and have ironic facial hair...but I vape on my own turf or outside. I save the drippers for at home and I'm even a little sheepish about breaking out the Kayfun in public.

When I see customers vaping at work I flash them my gear and ask if they wouldn't mind doing that outside before we get our toys taken away.

There is usually only two instances where I will critique spelling, or grammar.

1.) When the misspelling makes it more funny. For Example: "I used my hole brain against him"

2.) When someone screws up while correcting someone else.

Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe my inner curmudgeon is emerging. Maybe I'm just a cynic.

Your feelings are very common the_vape_nerd and I think probably go back a long way through human history. My wife and I were at her sister's place a few years ago and looked through some scrap books from the late 1800's to early 1900's filled with newspaper clippings someone in the family had collected. In the clippings were a bunch that talked about how 'modern' youth were going down the wrong path in life, were lazy, immature, rebellious, so wrong in their 'modern' beliefs and would be very sorry later in life that they didn't follow the status quo.

It's human nature for youth to think for themselves and change that status quo. It's not always for the better, but IMO it frequently is. the_vape_nerd, what you're experiencing is change in the vape world. Youth have discovered it, are putting their mark on it and making it their own. This doesn't mean you or I have to vape like they do, or like what they do, but nothing anyone does is going to stop the change. This change could also be extremely good for vaping in the long run.

Stay calm and vape on

I bet Cthulhu chucks Godlike clouds wherever he wants to.

Negative, I am a respectful vapor and I respect my work policies and I do not vape in crowded elevators either. COMMON SENSE. I do not, however, begrudge cloud blowing sport vapers either. I understand the OP's point to an extent but, no, cloud chasing hippie vagabonds are not responsible for FDA regulations.

Hi there. I am going to give you my opinion. I read yours and understand your point, now please hear mine. I think people should be allowed to vape the way they want to vape free of persecution especially in their own community of vapors!! Let me explain something to you, I am FAR from a young pierced kid (sterotype) and I am NOT a cloud chaser!! Yet I do build nano coils and at this very moment, I'm vaping with a .7 sub ohm. Coil at 3.4 volts and 15.7 watts. Why because I like the flavor and warm vape. Now according to you, I shouldn't be able to enjoy this type of vaping because it is "excessive". Excessive by whose standards?? Yours? I am not blowin giant clouds and I am not bothering ANYONE. And for your information I shower daily. So please STOP the stero types and prejudice! ! We all are vapors and enjoy it the way we want to enjoy it. We should be sticking together not making division. And it's NOT because of the cloud chasing types that the FDA is coming down on our community. It's about money and power. So do not be so self righteous as to judge other people for what they perfer to vape...I smoked for 25 years and because of vaping I was able to free myself of that bondage. I don't nor does any one else need someone drawing lines and sterotypingredients them for their vaping style. Also just because I sub ohm does not mean I blow ridiculous clouds of vapor in people's faces. We are a community and should respect one another as such. Including our vaping styles. People should be able to vape the way they want without percussion or sterotype. We should all be respectful with our vaping, which I am. So please stop passing judgement on others because you don't know what a nano coil is. I respect your choices so please respect mine. We are one community. Stop drawing divisions.

Thank you realsis.
