A good, nicely flavoured liquid can mask the lack of soap.
The big dense cloud can mask the obnoxious fellas.
So you don't see 'em, so you don't smell 'em - vaping wins again ;)

Wait till the next 'look at me's come around ... headmounted colored LED's to illuminate the vapor clouds they exhale...

Meself ?

Doin fine with DIY and run-o-the-mill gear...

Don't need compensate for any short comings :)

OP, I hear you, but don't necessarily agree with you. Cloud Chasers aren't making the vaping world look bad. I was in my Vape shop the other day. The guys who work there are all into RBAs and Drippers and they blow huge cloud after huge cloud. A nice grandmotherly looking lady, very elegantly dressed walked in. She clearly has never vaped, and came in to look at her first system and get off cigarettes. She looked at one of the "hipster" sales people blowing a HUGE billow of vapor and she smiled, and said......"oh my.....I want that!" It was amusing and I while I don't know what she ultimately bought or if she bought, I don't think people are as wary of vaping as you paint.

It's big tobacco we should be wary of. They wield a huge ax and we're cutting into their profits. They're losing people every day. Some die, some don't want to and switch to vaping. But losing customers none-the-less. They want the FDA to regulate the hell out of vaping. They want the FDA to make it virtually impossible for us NOT to buy their death products.

Yes, the hipsters may create an image that some people who don't know better might be concerned with, but they're in of themselves not the ones to be concerned about. Not by a long shot.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I have got to the point of expecting things to be ruined for me by other people who probably don't care as much lol. I pay more for my fishing rods because some seem to break them routinely because they can and the manufacturer replaces them under warranty .

This practice is abused terribly but of course price goes up to include breakage (even though i haven't broken one in over 40 years).

I'll stop there , could go on forever , seems sometimes it pays to not give a (well you know) , unless we all act responsible (fat chance that will happen) it ends up being a lost cause . You guessed it, don't have much faith in the younger generation these days , me me .

I'm not fed up with all of you. Just most of you.

I joined in 2011, have been vaping 3 years now. When I started, the cartomizer had just been invented, people were still for the most part using egos and cigalikes and the variable voltage mods has just taken off.

Now, vaping has descended into something that borders on the absurd and ridiculous. I cannot belong to any groups on facebook any longer because its filled with sub ohmnig, cloud chasing ...... who MUST have enough vape from three drags so that their living room resembles an Ozzy concert circa 1987.

I like the idea of building and rebuilding coils. There's a clear point to it. It's economical and you aren't dependent on a vendor for very long stretches of time. But does anyone need a .07 ohm coil? What exactly is a dragon coil? What is a nano coil? I quit caring or keeping up with it because after a certain point, its just too much vapor. I saw a jamoche today who had built something with 8 coils. EIGHT!!

My step-daughter attends LSU. She tells me that vaping on the campus has recently been banned outright. Not just inside but all over the entire campus. Why? Because college age vaping tards began flouting the "no smoking" policy by blowing giant clouds in the air and making a spectacle of themselves. Is there a health hazard here? most likely not, but it's still distracting.

Everyplace I go now there are poorly dressed, tattooed, pierced hipsters who've taken over and co-opted vaping. They are all snobby about it too, mentioning how great they are at sub-ohm coil building and flashing their high end gear. Here's a thought hipster...buy a slightly cheaper mod and maybe you'll be able to afford a bar of soap!

We have now, the FDA about to take away all sorts of rights and so few vapers really care about this. They aren't interested in anything but the equipment and how cool they can look vaping. PUT THE SOLDERING IRONS DOWN AND WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR CONGRESS PERSON.

Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe my inner curmudgeon is emerging. Maybe I'm just a cynic.

Anyway, that's my rant. Flame away.

AND YOU DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN!!

Preach Brother.

Hi there. I am going to give you my opinion. I read yours and understand your point, now please hear mine. I think people should be allowed to vape the way they want to vape free of persecution especially in their own community of vapors!! Let me explain something to you, I am FAR from a young pierced kid (sterotype) and I am NOT a cloud chaser!! Yet I do build nano coils and at this very moment, I'm vaping with a .7 sub ohm. Coil at 3.4 volts and 15.7 watts. Why because I like the flavor and warm vape. Now according to you, I shouldn't be able to enjoy this type of vaping because it is "excessive". Excessive by whose standards?? Yours? I am not blowin giant clouds and I am not bothering ANYONE. And for your information I shower daily. So please STOP the stero types and prejudice! ! We all are vapors and enjoy it the way we want to enjoy it. We should be sticking together not making division. And it's NOT because of the cloud chasing types that the FDA is coming down on our community. It's about money and power. So do not be so self righteous as to judge other people for what they perfer to vape...I smoked for 25 years and because of vaping I was able to free myself of that bondage. I don't nor does any one else need someone drawing lines and sterotypingredients them for their vaping style. Also just because I sub ohm does not mean I blow ridiculous clouds of vapor in people's faces. We are a community and should respect one another as such. Including our vaping styles. People should be able to vape the way they want without percussion or sterotype. We should all be respectful with our vaping, which I am. So please stop passing judgement on others because you don't know what a nano coil is. I respect your choices so please respect mine. We are one community. Stop drawing divisions.

I'm a young, pierced and tattooed hipster (even ride fixed gear and drive a prius!) so this post offends me. Not really. But I've never met anyone like you've described and I probably wouldn't like them anyways. It's part of the reason why I've never been to a vape shop before. I don't care about all the hyped up mods and building things. I'll stick with my provari and cartos.

I'm 73 years old, and vaping is about staying alive (and has been from the start). I could care less about trying to impress anyone with huge clouds or outlandish builds. Bottom line is I just don't want to smoke.

On the other hand, vaping does not have to be all about avoiding doom & gloom, why not have a little fun too.

So
https://www.facebook.com/events/594519873995026/

Well, I'm only 53, but I'd sure love to be able to see 73, and THAT is what vaping is for me. But it's not doom and gloom, even though I'm not really a social person; I love the geeking aspects, sure, I love building coils, trying new wick material, trying new juice flavors, all that stuff -- but not to blow "monster clouds" -- just so I can keep doing something that's a great deal like a thing I've loved for 39 yrs but which would certainly kill me, in a horrible way, and offends anyone who smells it who doesn't partake. That's mostly what I don't get about all this ANTZ nonsense; they've been harping FOR YEARS about how obnoxious cigarette smoke is, and now that I don't smoke, I'd have to agree, it really does stink -- but 95% of vapor does NOT stink -- yeah there's probably 5% that smells pretty bad, but hey, ALL cigarette smoke stinks! But noooooooooooo, now they move the goalposts -- it's not just that cigarette smoke stinks, it's that they want to CONTROL EVERYONE!! That's why I call them fascists; it sounds a little more mature than calling them "bossy-pants" but that's really what they are.

Hmmmm, maybe you need a higher nicotine level in your vape. :)

Some people like Bud Light
Some people think it's donkey piss

I agree completely that there is an emerging breed of under educated, obnoxious, inconsiderate vapers.

You'll find them in any environment, not just vaping.

Some people just suck.

Unfortunately our government, in their infinite wisdom, has criminalized removing them from the gene pool.

Personally I see them, chuckle, and move on with my life.

First, the OP is not saying that everyone that builds their own coils is a cloud chaser. Nor is he saying that everyone that build their own coils is a young pierced hipster. He's also not saying that every pierced hipster builds coils and is a cloud chaser.

However, most (not all, mind you) cloud chasing, coil building, extremists due tend to be younger.

I do agree with him in that it's starting to become the X Games (with some people), and while that might not be the cause of regulations, it certainly doesn't help.

It's also the reason many businesses don't allow vaping. I know several business owners and organizations that have banned vaping, but they know full well it's a relatively safe product. They've banned vaping because they don't want folks walking around their establishments carrying 8 coils builds and blowing huge plumes of vapor all over the place. If I were a business owner, I'd probably ban vaping too and for the same reasons.

Well, lets see. I like people to turn their head when I drive by. That's why I drive a new Porsche. I like people to admire me, and that's why I over dress and go to bars and buy everyone rounds. I like people to be impressed by my clouds, and that's why I am going to buy a monster mech and a huge RDA. None of this crap is true but it was fun to say. Peace.

To the OP

Im young
Pierced, lip rings and ears
Tattoed all over my arms more to come
I blow "clouds" as you call it.
And i dont dress the best.

BUT
Im not a "hipster"(
Im clean
I am respectful about my vaping. I very rarely vape in public unless walking, in my car, or in a vape shop.
I have a proper career.

I would like to say while there are many that arent respectful about their vaping i must say this thread made me laugh.
Anyone can vape what and how they please as long as they DONT smoke stinky sticks. Lets be honest whats worse, a cloud of vapor large or small, or the ash and stench of a cigarette?
Come on.....

James Dean. He was cool and he smoked. Maybe, just maybe, some young people will see these "obnoxious cloud chasers" and think, hey, that's pretty cool. Maybe a few young folks will try vaping instead of smoking because, well, it's cool. I f vaping is cool and smoking is passé, maybe a whole bunch of young folks will avoid damaging their bodies for 30+ years like I did with smoking. Just trying to look at this a different way is all...

To the OP (and please forgive anything you may mistake as my being an ......., as I am just trying to be matter of fact) My thoughts are that we cannot as a community survive divided. Making posts as you did does nothing whatsoever to help and save vaping. You made that post knowing that you COULD make it because it is how you feel and respond in a given situation, knowing that this community would either hate or love you for it. The point is you still made it as part of this community. The people you refer to ( make no mistake bother me to) do what they do as part of this community, knowing people will either love them or hate them for it. We cannot divide ourselves and hope to make any real progress in the way of stopping the FDA or whatever the challenge may be. You shouldn't write off the whole community due to a small portion of us who bother you. Would you want it that people write us all off because of you making this post and bothering them? My point is you don't have to like or endorse them in any way, hell rant all you want its your right to do so, but don't write off the vaping community because of a few bumps in the road. Now more than ever we need to stick together and support each other because at the end of the day we are all VAPERS. At the end of the day most of us are having our lives saved because of VAPING. At the end of the day there are people out there that need this community in order to fight the good fight and keep on saving there own life. Hell, who knows? Maybe there is someone out there with a question only YOU can answer, and won't be able to because you wrote us all off. I don't mean to be melodramatic and I apologize again, but this is something that sticks very close to my heart. We need to be the change we want to see, and that means we need to be at least tolerant of eachother, if not then how can we expect the FDA or anyone else to be tolerant of us. I wish you the best my friend and know things will work out as they always do. Please don't take this as provocation or insult, I want nothing more than to stay a united front. I mean if we don't have eachothers back, who the hell will?
