OK I'm the OP, I posted this last week. I knew it would tee-off some of you. I read as many responses as I could, but not all of them.

Several points were made which I will address:

1. The post is divisive. Yah, I suppose it is. It's not meant to divide people though. Even republicans and democrats have divisions within their own party ok. A wide spectrum of views makes us stronger not weaker. There's strength in diverse numbers.

2. I'm not calling on the government to ban anyone from sub-ohm cloud chasing. I believe in individual freedom. I just think some of you could be more polite in public you know, on a VOLUNTARY basis And I think you could maybe tone down the constant overwhelming discussion of equipment in favor of the politics of keeping vaping legal at this crucial time. No one cares about your stupid .07 quad coil ok. Maybe you care about it but it's not going to matter to anyone if liquid nic gets banned or severely restricted.

3. The "old man yells at cloud" cartoon was hilarious.

You make several assumptions about people in your OP that just aren't true, and it's natural that people are going to want to point that out to you. There are many on this forum who aren't part of the youthful counter culture, and sub-ohm for various reasons. Further, this "problem" of people vaping in inappropriate places isn't a problem I've encountered while working in the largest city in the world, five days a week. I really don't think it's a large enough problem to be the driving force behind the regulations. Rather, it seems to be a manufactured issue used by the opposition to pit us against each other and to provide a non existent issue to "solve".

Now, that's not to say that I've never come across snooty vapers in a vape shop who look at my Provari with disdain while vaping on their $300 mech topped with an RDA running a sub-ohm coil. I generally don't travel with my sub-ohm set ups are they're inconvenient for my commute and I don't work in a vape shop. However, they're blowing their clouds IN a vape shop, and anyone who walks into one should expect to see some clouds. The better vape shops who wish to see repeat customers get around to firing the employees who make their customers feel uncomfortable. As for this forum, I think it's easy for the hobbyist's here to forget that they are surrounded by hobbyist's who don't necessarily make up the majority of the vaping population. They're usually reminded of it pretty fast.

I'm waiting for the Obligatory "Is the HANA Modz better than a Provari?" thread myself.

THAT I don't get. Whatever mod works for you is the best mod for you. It just so happens that collecting a variety of them with various features in each happens to work for me. Keeps me interested, which is what I needed to easily get off of cigarettes I think. I like building coils, I love a good switch, and I love switching around flavors.

Or the inevitable "Provaree" (Available soon from FT!), of which you'll be able to buy SIX for the price of just ONE. I mean, WHO would buy just ONE (that works & lasts) when you can buy SIX (that may or may not fire when you press the button)?

It's simple, really.

I embrace and love our little vaping culture. Funny story from my local B&M last week:

Hey gramps, you don't use a dripper. What's up dude!

Me: Smiling with a slight smurk, dude, I AM using a dripper.

Na can't be gramps.

Me: Trust me. Then I removed the door of my REO and started talking about it. It's a squonker. A bottom feed atty.

WOW! Never saw one of those.

ME: Wanna try it?

Yea Dude!

Me: Try Steve please if were going to bond. Removed my 510 drip tip. Install his and hand the Mod to my NBF

WOW. Cool Dude I mean Steve. Nice vape. Love the squonk. Rad juice!

ME: My DIY mix. Here, try this bottle and keep it if you like it. Let me show you my build and how it works.

--- It went on and on for well over an hour and I loved every minute of it. Gramps can talk the talk and walk the walk. Nice kid and I loved the tats and piercing. Reminded me of my days in "the summer of love" Woodstock, Haight, Janice, Jimmy, and maybe some stuff I can't talk about on ECF. Fun!

Case closed. It's DEFINITELY my new favorite thread. MARVELOUS!!! :thumb:

I've been noticing things like these giant clouds of vapor and the "vape however you like" mentality ... maybe I am also old. I am definitely cynical.

IMNSHO that is the kind of almost childish attitude that will bring the Feds down on the entire vaping community with both feet.

Already, every time some mod goes BOOM in someone's face (I read lately about a man whose mod sparked around his oxygen tank and blew him up, killing him. To me, Darwin spoke) the anti-vaping community goes nuts with the newest example about how e-cigs will kill us all.

Extreme modders need to stop feeding the trolls, IMNSHO. At least until the FDA relaxes.

Got a Reo, just like my tube mods better is all.

With dripping it's the ritual man .......... it's the ritual. Same reason that I never owned a ZIPPO that the lid didn't eventually fall off of. (wife would leave the room because I never stopped opening/closing the damn things)

Well, see..... You've got the incident you mentioned all wrong. The man was charging his battery with the *wrong* charger and it vented in a room where an oxygen concentrator was located. The man did die but it was because of his own negligence. Sad story!

Most of the accidents that I have read reported are usually eGo type batteries and not the 'extreme modders' as you call them.

Also the Feds are not passing any legislation because of cloud chasing - none, not one scrap of legislation is because of it.

It's because of money. That's it - nothing sinister, and nothing to be surprised about. It's the law of the land we live in - it's about the green.

Sub-ohm mods are not exploding. eGo or smaller type batteries like in the instance you mention are and are giving vaping a bad name. Headlines are along the lines of 'ecig goes blamo', not 'wrong charger causes blamo'.

Well... it is sinister BUT you're right, it has nothing to do with sub-ohm vaping. It's all about money$$$

IMO it's past time that we do something about it too! I find it hard to believe that the Consumer Protection Agency hasn't already done something about the ego charging problem.
There is no reason (other than cheap) to be using anything but Li-Mn chemistry anymore in ego class batteries..

Roly Gate: Yes, good point - all ecigs should now use Li-Mn or hybrid. Li-ion cells are obsolete now, and it is obvious that the protection circuits in 'protected Li-ion' packages (like eGos) don't work when charging.
    August 9 at 8:11am ·

Roly Gate: I've posted that in ECF already. Li-ion is obsolete and needs to be gone. Currently I'm doing a major set of warnings on ECF about this because with just one UK city reporting nine fires and a death, something needs to be done. We're gonna get crucified on this.

As you might notice in this post, some of us "grumpy old and full of bs" guys seek change where we see the need for change, instead of just complaining.

I'm 73, and every time I go into the local B&Ms the guys want to take the top off my dripper to see what in the hell I did 'this time"
The still can't believe that I can blow a cloud with a 2.4 ohm coil on a mechanical mod.

I'm 67, and I go through a lot of the same stuff. Not long ago, I was at the local B&M. The kid behind the counter asked to see what was under the hood of my Kraken. When he saw the dual ss mesh wicks and coils, the response was: "Oh...I gave up on trying to build with that mesh stuff. All I got was hot spots." LOL

Not trying to scold anyone here, but it's the truth. Vape respectfully and vaping will be accepted. Drag Race with your mods and that will be the impression that people carry around and spout to the masses. Do we want to become the "nasty smokers" of the vape generation?
I could not disagree more with quote above and many other nonsense stated in this thread so far but if you believe what you claim then you are being delusional. vapares were tagged as nasty smokers all the way from it's beginning but fda obviously waited to see how far will this new thing go an now that it has it's momentum they want part of it.

all you blaming cloud chasers, sub's, enthusiasts and other vaping weirdos that some of you can not stand, you are terribly wrong as those are just probably under 1% of the vapers and they have no influence nor they harm anyone ... it's all about the money again

Now... from all the reading i did in past 3 months difference between USA and EU vapers is huge and us peps complain way more and just about every poke they get. also i see a lot of complaints about youngsters.. rly?
i travel a lot through Slovenia, Austria, Germany and Croatia where i've seen bunch of vapers and had pleasure to talk with and trust me youngsters are far more polite and reasonable than older people with godlike attitude when it comes to vaping so please stop pointing fingers in wrong direction. i've seen quite a lot of younger and older vapers being warned not to vape and while younger moved away or stopped with minor gruntung the older in like 95% of cases wemt in heavy discussio and defending their ego.

another thing, i see many complain not to be allowed to wape where smoking is not allowed and opening threads with huge rant and disappointment so i really wonder what gives us vapers rights or upper hand over the smokers to vape where smoking is banned?
the thing that bothers me the most is that some folks here were smoking for 30/40+ years and started vaping week or two ago and already ranting over smokers and looking at them from the top. i vape outside and chat with smokers. if smoking is forbidden i dont vape either and i dont ask questions nor i argue. What i believe is that ranting played it's part in blacklisting vapers also.
