Not into cloud chasing myself, I just vape instead of smoke lol.

But it got me thinking, aren't the people that like to push things to the extremes the ones who really drive innovation? I don't need an R&D team to improve my vaping, it does the job just fine. But the cloud chasers might, and I just might pick up some of the new coils/tanks/mods that come out of it.

That's what they like to believe when they're copying the latest and greatest coil off the tube. Cutting edge, man!

I'd say that's true for about 0.001%. The rest just monkey see monkey do.

I'm not fed up with all of you. Just most of you.

I joined in 2011, have been vaping 3 years now. When I started, the cartomizer had just been invented, people were still for the most part using egos and cigalikes and the variable voltage mods has just taken off.

Now, vaping has descended into something that borders on the absurd and ridiculous. I cannot belong to any groups on facebook any longer because its filled with sub ohmnig, cloud chasing ...... who MUST have enough vape from three drags so that their living room resembles an Ozzy concert circa 1987.

I like the idea of building and rebuilding coils. There's a clear point to it. It's economical and you aren't dependent on a vendor for very long stretches of time. But does anyone need a .07 ohm coil? What exactly is a dragon coil? What is a nano coil? I quit caring or keeping up with it because after a certain point, its just too much vapor. I saw a jamoche today who had built something with 8 coils. EIGHT!!

My step-daughter attends LSU. She tells me that vaping on the campus has recently been banned outright. Not just inside but all over the entire campus. Why? Because college age vaping tards began flouting the "no smoking" policy by blowing giant clouds in the air and making a spectacle of themselves. Is there a health hazard here? most likely not, but it's still distracting.

Everyplace I go now there are poorly dressed, tattooed, pierced hipsters who've taken over and co-opted vaping. They are all snobby about it too, mentioning how great they are at sub-ohm coil building and flashing their high end gear. Here's a thought hipster...buy a slightly cheaper mod and maybe you'll be able to afford a bar of soap!

We have now, the FDA about to take away all sorts of rights and so few vapers really care about this. They aren't interested in anything but the equipment and how cool they can look vaping. PUT THE SOLDERING IRONS DOWN AND WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR CONGRESS PERSON.

Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe my inner curmudgeon is emerging. Maybe I'm just a cynic.

Anyway, that's my rant. Flame away.

AND YOU DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN!!

I agree with you. Specially on the high end equipment. Not many of us have the money to spare. I vape because I need to, and although I too do my share of rebuilding I prefer the ease of slapping a head into a clearo and not fussing with rebuilding. 100 bucks used to keep me vaping all month long, now I need double that thanks to SS tanks, high end batteries and premium eliquids. I remember to vape on 250 dollars worth of cartos, KR808 batts and eliquid for 4 months or more... Now most batteries cost more than my vaping budget. It's gone out of hand.

Puppies and their new toys...

The nice thing about being old is I ceased to give a schitt what other folks do a long time ago....

Shen I go into the B&M the fellows behind the counter hand me 2 rolls of wire, 3 packs of J cotton and a 120ml bottle of the juice I like.....then they wander towards the Authentic Mod case and see if there's anything new in there for me.

And the 30 or so cloud chasers in the room are all twiddling with their rigs trying to keep it right....And they laugh at me cause I run a 1.1 ohm coil in a KFL2...And I laugh at them cause the 120ml bottle will last me a month and a 30ml bottle of their designer juice cost's them more then my monthly refill....

But, we all have something in common to talk about and life is really too shorty to get hung up on what other people say or do.

Yup, getting old is refreshing.....

So, I think I'll take the 60 or so bucks I save a week vaping and go buy the grandson another toy.....Something He can help me put together.....I'm thinking another Black powder rifle kit....You shoulda seen his eyes lite the :censored: up when I gave him a motorcycle last month!

My daughter's one of those tatted & pierced up hipsters..and they're GREAT!! Fun, hip, CARE about their health and our planet, while I"m not composting anymore (that darn thing caught on fire) she's gotten us way more aware as we should be and we actually eat quinoa *lol*

We get along great with the "kids" down at the vape shop too...I like the cloud contests (plus they give out a lot of SWAG and y'all know me..I love the SWAG):p

kind of like our loud pipes and muscle cars...luckily I had "cool" parents ...LIVE and let LIVE.

To each their own.

OP, I understand completely where you are coming from. I just got a year with no cigarettes today and posted ten things that I've learned along the way. Many of those ten items stress moderation in one way or another. I don't get out much, I'm too busy looking out my window to yell at the kids out there on the lawn, but I try not to let the people you speak of bother me too much. I hate to see potential quitters intimidated by all of that nonsense, but people will be what people will be. There's not much I can do about that.

I'm fairly apathetic about the political end of things though. (I pretty much gave up when the Supreme Court said corporations were people according to the constitution. What? Really?) Again, people will be... So will politicians of every stripe and corporations in the USA, will inevitably have their way. It's heretical, I know, but I believe the future of people getting off of cigarettes is in the hands of Big Tobacco. The "Vuse" is an amazing piece of technology that only a corporation with the deep pockets of big tobacco could pull off. I would actually recommend it for those I know who have tried conventional vaping and were unable to deal with the technology of it. I believe it is the trend of things to come anyway, and if Big Tobacco has their way with the FDA, they'll be the only ones who can hurdle the barriers the FDA will put in the way.

So, I'm just trying to stay stocked on nicotine and DIY supplies and wire to build my Kanger coils and I'll try and help those I can along the way and fight the small local battles if I can. Maybe one day in the not too distant future, when I retire, I'll just go ahead and build a playground out there for those darn kids

. :D

It is getting a little out of hand. It has gone from this is a great way to stop smoking , to who has the tools to win at cloud chasing contests. Some of these big cloud chasers don't even have much nicotine in their tanks anymore.

Some of these guys keep saying or imo it sounds like kind of an excuse that big clouds provide more nicotine per hit. When there are diff MG levels that will be able to satisfy anybody by using a regular or decent powered device and battery. The scary part is , the more vapor you produce , THE more you need to produce. It's like you can't turn back. Who knows, when they come out with 1000 W mod box batteries and even brand companies like kanger and aspire start making .1 sub ohm coils/tanks , people from one hit will be letting out like a 1 minute straight vapor out from their body. And suddenly vaping becomes worse for your health than even smoking cigarettes.

Its going to be interesting and kind of uneasy to see what the future holds for vaping. I just hope some newbies or careless vapers does not have their box and tank explode on them, harming them significantly giving the government now a reason to start banning ecigs and everything related like no tomorrow. Then cigarettes companys coming out their disposable but crappy 10 years ago tech ecigs, making even more profits, ruining it for the majority. Bottom line is, i like posts like yours. It makes you stop a sec and think and how to try to protect "vaping" from getting out of hand.

Hey I'm tattooed and pierced. I'm not a hipster though... But i still go outside to vape when I'm out at a restaurant or something. And I don't vape in peoples houses unless they say I can. And even then I don't feel right and try not to blow huge obnoxious clouds of the stuff. Honestly it's a smoking replacement, so i treat it the exact same way I treated smoking. Don't be a .... about it and do it just because you can. It's called manners. And I too wonder why some people who've never smoked have taken this up as a hobby and are interested in just huge clouds. I mean I get it, i like a big cloud once in awhile too, but I'm happy with the clouds that come off my Evod-1's and think the ones on the EMOW with thicker juice is a little much. It floats around the room for a few minutes, and i'm trying to watch tv or play a game or something and that's annoying. But there are people like me, who've made this switch in the interest of saving our ....ing lives that really don't need anyone coming in being a .... and giving the anti vaping movement any ammunition to use against us as a whole.
And I can hear them laughing at me now... "Ha! He thinks his Evods blow big cloudZ lmfao NOOB!!"

Sorry not a tattooed, pierced youngster that single part of your op killed any point you were trying to get across. Vaping is causing me real problems lately as I've always believed in freedom of choice but vaping lately has got a bit silly with devices and tanks. Now most of us on here have done our homework we've put in the hours of research to let us get to a place where were happy but there is a growing group of ignorant jumping into vaping buying 100w+ devices and now sub ohm tanks without the slightest clue because some idiot on YouTube says its how you get clouds. I myself have an ugly .7 coil in my Lemo sat on top of my sig50 so I'm not against this area of vaping but there needs to be something to safeguard newcomers. I predict sadly it will not be long before one of these new vapours is badly hurt because they didn't have a clue and then it will become a problem for the entire vaping community and this is not even taking into account some of the shoddyness passing for build quality in a lot of high power mods. I don't hide my vaping on the odd occasion I'm out and about and have always been happy to be stopped by people enquiring about my ecig I've won many people over with that approach but I have seen a few clouders in my town and the reaction they have bought out in others around them and it hasn't been positive.

I'm in the UK so don't yet have the problems my US brothers and sisters have from government but like it or not how all of us behave in public matters because whilst you might think its only a few people one of them might be in the position to create a lot of issues.

It seems the issue here is being considerate around others. Maybe it's more obvious with vaping since is relatively new compared to smoking and vapor production is a thing that people can obtain.

This isn't anything new though. People who smoke cigarettes can be just as disrespectful. Have you ever seen the person tossing their cigarette .... in front of a store while they walk in while exhaling their last drag? It's basically the same thing. Vaping hasn't made people inconsiderate, it was already in the person at question. This isn't something to be fed up about, it's just a rant about disrespectful people who want to be noticed.

One more thing, at least these people aren't smoking cigarettes and they don't smell like ashtrays anymore.

Its not just considerate behaviour its a health and safety issue with the latest high wattage devices and sub ohm tanks not things newcomers should be jumping straight into and its only a matter of time before a news headline about someone that didn't know what they were doing has been injured appears and the whole vaping community will suffer. There are some really irresponsible videos on YouTube by people who know what they are doing but encouraging all and sundry to get their level of kit without any advice to read up or research. Not what the op was about but an issue that's recently arose. I've already stopped someone buying a god mod as he only started vaping a few weeks ago and doesn't have a clue about his ego or ce5 its scary to know what people can get hold of and it isn't the same as cigarettes because i never heard of the legitimate cigarette that could damage you on first use as these high wattage devices can.

Years ago my company introduced casual Fridays. Before that I had to wear a suit and tie. First thing that happened was a few people started pushing the limits, just for the hell of it I guess. Torn jeans. Shirts with provocative messages. Etc. So every month we had a staff meeting where the latest unacceptable items were discussed. I spent too much time listening to stupid questions like, so I'm not allowed to wear torn jeans, what about if they only have one small tear? The limit pushers kept pushing, because that's their thing. In the end they stopped casual Friday for a couple of months, then reopened it with a strictly enforced list of allowable clothing.

People had been going to town board meetings in my town with concealed firearms forever. Then some guy decided to take a rifle in there, because the Constitution said he could. Making a point. Next month they passed an ordinance banning guns at board meetings.

Just saying, in any area of life there are people who crave attention, and they can sometimes mess stuff up for the rest of us. I don't care what anyone does at home but if I couldn't have a discreet vape walking round a college campus because some attention seekers had exercised their legal right to produce huge intrusive clouds I would have been a little ....... Nothing you can do about it though.

Someone earlier in this thread said, big tobacco would still be coming after us if nobody had ever fired up a vape stick outside their living room. True, but making ourselves look obnoxious to the general public makes big tobacco's job a little easier.
