Why is there a "........." stigma associated with people who use e-cigarettes?

I've been using e-cigs for a few years now, and while it hasn't completely stopped me from smoking real cigarettes, it definitely has helped significantly.


However, it's come to my attention (through the internet and television) that using e-cigs is the sign of a "........." and that people who use them are smug about it. I wouldn't consider myself smug about it at all. I don't look down on people who still smoke real cigarettes and I don't think highly of myself because I'm using an e-cig. The main reason why I use it is to cut down on real cigarettes and hopefully improve my health and cut down on the risks of a real cigarette.


I mostly vape while at home as opposed to out in public, but when I do vape in public, I can't help but wonder if people automatically think I'm a ......... because of it. I'm at an age now where I really don't care what others think about me, but I still think it's unfair that people would judge me without really knowing a damn thing about me.

That never occurred to me. See, I don't even care if people judge me. Yesterday I was in front of my local shopping center dripping away on my device. Did I look around and notice anybody looking at me ? Nope. Where I live people are laid back and enjoy their lives

I havent seen this but I do notice the local news likes to show some of the shops around campus and they habe a counter culture / grunge vibe but that is less vaping and more about our campus area in my opinion. Good news is I have noticed the vape shops all sponsoring local television news and radio stations both music and talk. I have also noticed we have very few negative news reports probably due to not wanting to offend a paying customer/advertiser.

My better half does the same... Its wierd... I never complain about her grabbing her cigs or having to stop at a gastank to buy a pack...

Former smokers are often the worst non smokers. I know my ex wife useta be awful! She would complain loudly about the smell & even go Gonzo over someone flicking a .... out of there car window... Chasing them down & reporting them for littering.

I've seen some vapers who have a holier than though attitude and talk down to/at smokers. Seems a shame.

How quickly some forget the chains cigarettes had on them. It isn't easy to quit....
