So many jokes, must...go...to...work.... *runs away*
Excellent idea :sneaky: :D

It's all about enjoying a bit of fun. No one is looking down on anyone else.....or shouldn't be :glare:

It's nice to have a 'home' thread to discuss the style of vaping that works for you. If you wanna talk about clouds, tootle puffing or mod whomping without feeling looked down on, it's nice to go where like minded styles are the norm.

It's really not that different than the different categories in the building section of the forum.

I know this is often seen as a general rule, but there are exceptions. I use the MTL technique exclusively cause I never really learned how to totally lung inhale a ciggy. I find it produces allot of flavor, and usually run 30 watts or above so that the vapor is thick and juicy. I guess I am really, a sinus vapor, ha-ha. Master of the snork, LOL. OK, My label is SNORKER, tee he.

I just could never see WHY lung-inhale a cigarette! Other "stuff", sure, for maximum effect, but not cigarettes. I've tried an RDA that's very airy, even at minimum airflow setting... and it's just useless with my usual MtL technique, it's like trying to "smoke a straw" -- it felt like I was getting nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing... OMG IT'S TOO MUCH and I'd nearly fall out coughing. Now I leave that Caterpillar strictly ALONE. I'll probably end up PIFing it and the Veritas and the Derringer. The Veritas actually *can* be closed off pretty well, if you leave just a sliver of the airhole showing, but I found it "just ok" and I'm told that it's a lot better than "just ok" with higher power... which I doubt I will ever use, so it's kinda wasted on me. The Derringer I got because it's so small, I thought it would make a great stealth vape, but it's got "mystery airflow" from *somewhere* even with every airhole closed, it's STILL too airy. And someone had the nerve to tell me that the Derringer could be closed off for tootle puffing... NO IT CAN'T!

I'm fairly confident the jokes he referred to have very little to do with vape styles. Just a guess.
When someone mentions the word "small" immature men like us, well.....

So... is tootle puffing a term of endearment, or a derogatory term used for those of us not into big clouds and building our own gear?

<SARCASM>Come on man, if you don't wear sleeveless "SUB OHM COTTON KINGS OF SO-CAL" with a flat, snap-brim fitted cap, and blow clouds on a .08Ohm build atop a mech mod in between lifting, then you aren't really a vaper.</SARCASM>

I think the word TootlePuffer is a bit silly, personally. I am typing this using my iStick 50w with a Nautilus Mini at 9w. I like the higher wattage devices for the stamina (4400 mAh) they offer at lower wattages. I also use sub ohm tanks, and RDAs because I like to tinker, and I'm not gonna lie... Blowing a large cloud still impresses me. Something else I am impressed with is by how many of you lovely, and kind members will be around for several more years because we made the switch to vaping. Call me/it whatever you may, but the fact that we will all live longer makes me VERY happy.

Andria, wind that Derringer up and vape it, lol!

I'm joking, sort of. I just got one and actually like it despite my non dripper ways.

I built it to 0.45 ohm and threw it on a mech, and its quite yummy really. I'm doing a direct lung hit, but a mild one. But, I'm kind of hitting everything that way now. It just happened gradually without my noticing.

I never minded an airy draw on any of my vape gear. For the first nine months that I vaped I always used Ego's and CE5's or protanks or any gear like that and same as when I smoked for 40 years, I did the MTL style. I tried drippers but didnt like lung hitting too much. Then I started using Kayfuns and lemo's and while still tootle puffing, the Ego's and CE5's wouldnt satisfy me anymore. Then I tried the subtank mini and the first moment I hit it, it needed to be a lung hit. It was just that airy and oh so smooth of a lung hitter it is. So now the majority of my vaping is lung hitting and its like I been doing it forever. Many times while I smoked I tried to lung hit but always ended up doing the MTL and same with my vaping, yet now all I want to do is lung hit. Its weird to me but it is what it is. Kayfuns and lemo's are still MTL for me and I still use them some but for the most part its subtanks with lung hits.

most Tootlepuffers found their full time set-up and basically stopped checking into this forum regularly. Pretty much what I did, something like 8, 10 months without checking in. I just came back to see whats new.

It's so funny, you're so right. That's exactly what happened here, too. Once I settled in with my original Provari and an 801 carto (or a few other toppers) I basically didn't come on the forum for 2 years. Now that I've gotten back into the hobby side of things and have started subohming and rebuilding (but not cloud chasing), I'm back.

That said, I like it all. I enjoy vaping on my Evod with a 1.5 head @ 7-8W as much as I enjoy my subtank with a .5 head at 20-25W as much as I enjoy a .15 ni200 coil at 45W.

I was thinking just yesterday about how many cigarettes I must have tossed in the trash over the years because there was a hole/tear in the paper.

AND, I still that way. There has to be at least some restriction to the draw for it to satisfy me.

Pretty sure I'm stuck with MtL for the duration; asthma doesn't like lung hits, no sir it does NOT. :D Unless I'm breathing in albuterol or Advair for all I'm worth, THOSE I can lung hit. :D

Yup, less drama is a good thing in my opinion.

OTOH, sometimes I really miss those 37 page Provari threads

Oh dear... what's wrong with the Provari?? I just bought one a few days ago. It's so shiny and pretty and has dragons on it. You can see what my priorities are.

Ohm's Law. At 10V, 2 ohms, the current draw is 5 amps. Power = amps * volts, or in this case 50 watts :)

The idea of low ohms = higher power comes from "fixed voltage" mech mods where resistance is the only variable for your Ohm's Law solution. Not really fixed since the voltage declines steadily as the battery drains but you get the point.

Regulated mods can go up to 8-10V, so easily get 35-50 watts on a 1.8 ohm coil

The idea that you don't need to sub-ohm to get high power is slow to take hold. There may be some advantages to a low ohm coil, they heat up quicker so less delay. May change the character of the vape, you just have to try it and compare.

How does it not taste burnt doing that? If my coil resistance reads 2.1 I can't go above 4.4 volts or it tastes burnt. Like I said, my husband has a 50w VV/VW device. He's more interested in making clouds. What kind of tank/coil would he need to up the wattage?

You need a tank with the juice flow and air flow to handle the wattage you give it. Ohm's Law isn't concerned with that part. I don't recall how much power I could put into my Nautilus Mini, it's been 6 months at least since I've used it or the regular Nautilus. My next tank was a Kayfun Lite Plus, which I did not like. I use a set of Subtank Mini's now and I really like them. My Subtank works on my Provari. Compared to my 50W box mods that I use at 25-45W, it is weak on the Provari but until I got the box mods I was happy. If you bought a P3 you can go to 18-20W (?) and that would help. Just being able to dial in the max wattage on a Provari is very helpful, my older one I need to use a calculator and then push it until it complains and then back off.

In over five years I've had a varied history with the e-cigs. My first were the old automatic cig-a-likes, with the separate atomizer and cartridge. Cartomizers were the obvious next step, and then Ego batteries. Cartos were dropped in favor of EVOD clearos so I could replace/rebuild coils. My buddy turned me on to the Protank 2 and its mini, then a Sigelei ZMax to fire them. Then it was drippers and mech mods, so I ended up with a Plume Veil and Praxis, which I never really got the hang of. He's reeling me that I need to go with the big new tanks and convinces me to pre-order the Goliath...which turns out to be a huge freaking hassle. Which I couldn't really use anyways without getting a big freaking mod. Whatever; I ended up with a Sigelei mini box and a Big Buddha mini RTA. Between that setup and my old EVODs back in rotation on Ego Twist I'm hufflepuffing away on 1.6-1.8 ohm coils at 9-12 watts. I really like long, slow draws and can put out assume nice thick vapor.
