Here's a good read on nicotine. The Great Nicotine Myth

I am sorry, But any website that has to twist words like The myth of nicotine's dangerous and alien nature
I don't trust anything they say after that.

alien Chemical what is that? I never heard of Nicotine being called alien Nature or Alien Chemical.

WHY can't they say The Myth that Nicotine is Dangerous? Because that would be a lie?
So they have to add the words Alien Nature or Alien Chemical to make it a Myth they just made up.

And why do they say Nicotine is a relatively harmless normal dietary component.
Dietary = A regulated daily food allowance.
I want to Vape it not eat it.

Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant.
Nicotine constricts blood vessels, speeds up the heart and increases blood pressure.

How is that not Dangerous?

That fact is from Brown University research on Smokeless tobacco.

Smokeless Tobacco | Brown University Health Education

Sorry if I offended anyone, But you think this would be a simple Question: Is Nicotine Dangerous or Bad for us?
And for every web site saying it is, there are four more saying it isn't.

That fact that Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant,
Nicotine constricts blood vessels, speeds up the heart and increases blood pressure,
there seems to be the only thing a lot of them agree on.

True story:
I was turned on to Nicotine by a Doctor, I was getting migraines.
Which this doctor believed that migraines were linked to expanding blood vessels,
which then the nicotine would counteract and constrict the blood vessels.

I have been told that Caffeine and Nicotine both could be a trigger for migraines,
but both where given to me for the treatment of my migraines.

Considering there are other CNS stimulants, that are used for treatments, tells me it isn't inherently dangerous.
Plus the fact that umpteen million people have smoked, vaped or otherwise ingested nicotine and are still alive today tells me something.

Regarding vascular constrictors, heart speed and blood pressure increase, again I would look if there are other things either prescribed or taken daily that also do this. If nicotine were only substance around, I'd think isolating nicotine as dangerous makes sense. If not only substance, then it seems disproportionately unfair to put forth information suggesting nicotine is 'dangerous' because it does same/similar thing as other substances that are far less vilified.

I'm still firmly entrenched in 2.4 mg after 15 months. I tried to drop to 1.8, but it lacked the throat hit I craved. I need that huge throat hit for this to work for me. I see people concerned about dropping their nic all the time, but to me, it's no different than a person who just has to have three or four cups of Starbucks a day.

If you're doing this with the intention of weening yourself off nic, good for you! If not, good for you! :)

Yeah but are we talking about pure nicotine or are we talking about the 18mg/1000mg dose of nicotine in your juice? At normal vaping levels I feel nicotine is a safe consumable for a healthy person. The one thing I keep hearing from people is that I switched from one "vice" to another. Well, if vaping is a "vice" then so is drinking coffee.

I belive the CDC included this in their database,
from the concern NIOSH had for the workplace....

"Worker exposure may occur during processing and extraction of tobacco."

Tobacco processing workers nic level
may have been off the charts before PPE and NIOSH.
due to their daily contact,
every working day,
without a break.

And each individual does react differently.

A smoker, may have a higher tolerance.
An ex-smoke,r a somewhat lower tolerance.
A child or pet.....no tolerance.

As a vaper it is good to know the symptoms,
especially if there are children and or pets in the house.
Both are very curious about.........everything.

Harmless Nicotine

Yea it's so harmless that the CDC set up a Emergency Response plan ;)

CDC - The Emergency Response Safety and Health Database: Systemic Agent: NICOTINE - NIOSH

Make sure you scroll down to the Signs/Symptoms part, That's some good reading there.:)

I think I would listen to the CDC over Yahoo but that's just me :vapor:

If you would listen to the CDC, then why the heck are you vaping?? They consider it quite dangerous. Then on the other hand, the CDC lied about their own survey on vaping and teenagers.

You're right - nicotine is a poison (in large, large doses), a vasoconstrictor and a preventative re: alzheimers. Got ulcerative colitis or crohns? Vape high nic - it will help (apparently and imho - go away lawyers!).

If you still smoke put a few ashtrays-worth of dog-ends in a bucket. Top it up with water (about 2 pints for 3 ash trays) and let it sit for two days.

Spray this on your plants with greenfly on them. Check a few minutes later. They're all dead.

Why? 'Cos you've just killed hem with nicotine wash!

Nicotine can be very, very poisonous - it's all about dosage.

Take two small cigars, extract the nic and inject it intravenously into your best pal.

He's now dead, too.

A poison is a poison depending on dosage and ingestion method.

Vapers should be fine imho (just don't drink or eat the stuff!)

There is nothing really to debate here, except when both sides try to reduce things down to absurdity. Everything is good for you and everything is bad for you. Orange juice can kill you in high enough doses. This is NOT to say that all substances are equal but merely that reality isn't as simple as "Is x good? check yes/no"

It is certainly true that nicotine is one of the most toxic substances on the planet, and can be highly addictive. It is also the case that because it has almost always been associated with (usually smoked) tobacco, nicotine itself in smoking quanitities is not nearly as dangerous as most people assume. The quantitiy is the key factor, and studies have shown that nicotine users are adept at regulating the amount they put into their bodies. Accidental OD on nicotine is not an issue. It has also been shown to be beneficial in helping children with severe ADD and autism. Caffeine constricts blood flow and raises heart rate but certainly has beneficial effects too. The same goes for alcohol, we all know how it can be damaging, but studies are showing more and more how the stress relieving effects are a non-negligible benefit.

I'm not making the sophomoric argument "everything causes cancer durrrrr" or "everything is a wash", but if we really want to debate it (for the millionth time), it needs to be in more advanced terms than "is..... gooooooood? baaaaad!"

Ever eaten tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, cauliflower, or peppers? If you have, you have eaten nicotine.

Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant.
Nicotine constricts blood vessels, speeds up the heart and increases blood pressure.
About the same things that caffeine does.

The point I was making is it was a e-cig site talking about Nicotine in Food, I want to know about Nic in Vapor.

Caffeine is always compared to Nicotine and I don't know if both, one, or neither is bad like life threating bad.
That is what I would like to know.

I know that research is on Smokeless tobacco, I was just letting people know where I found my comment at.
Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant.
Nicotine constricts blood vessels, speeds up the heart and increases blood pressure.

I just want a legit website on a legit study of Nicotine.
The only thing close that I can find is that Brown university study that started back in the 90s
And it is mostly on Tobacco. .

There are many valid reasons someone might choose to reduce nicotine.

-to reduce dependence on nicotine
-their tolerance for nicotine has decreased
-better gear delivers nicotine more efficiently
-to save money or stretch supplies (DIY)
-fear a ban
-legitimate medical reasons
-just want to see if they can

I'm sure there are more reasons.

These are answers i agree with, the one underlined is my experience :) I think a vaper should pay attention to his/her own experiences and go from there. Thanks for summing it up!
