no...i didn't really think that title through...
any recommendations for scissors/shears/cutters for trimming wicks? i bought a couple of pairs of these...
off amazon and they're not up to much (i'll admit to them being rather cheap).
wondering what you all use for close up cutting of cotton or rayon.

I see I'm not the only one that likes to use too much tool for his rebuilding.

Quality snips for a quality rebuildable life.
Tools are an investment, not an expense.
I think mine are a bit north of 15 years old...They cut everything.

I use either hair cutting scissors or the scissors which came in my coil kit - depends on which is closest to hand at the time.

For cutting wire I either use wire cutters or nail clippers, depending on what's easiest and closest to hand at the time.

I'd recommend cloth scissors - and never use them for paper or anything like that, as it dulls them really fast. I've settled quite happily on a pair of quilting scissors as they're smaller (and cheaper) than most cloth shears. Rag snips should work well too, but I wouldn't recommend thread snips.

I used to tie flies for fly fishing back in the day and scissors purchased about 35 years ago is what I use for cotton and rayon. I use basically a 1.5" for bulk cuts and a 1" for trimming. As mentioned these were not cheap back then but found a new purpose and they last. Check some of the online sports shops for an idea on what might tickle your fancy and price range. The 1" is great for tight and slight trimming of wick tails.
