I highly highly recommend manual 510. Totally sealed on the threaded end so the battery is extremely difficult to damage or kill with juice leaks. Won't turn on by accident from wind or vibration. Less work. Gives more control of the hit. Downside - you can't vape with a scissors finger hold - so what.

I recommend Joye brand so you don't accidentally get a reverse polarity clone. You could check Cignot.com for Joye 510 manual prices - they list both the barrel color and LCD color

To make a white 510 look even more like a cigarette you could also use tan or white Boge standard resistance cartomizers (instead of the atomizer and cart) - see NiteLiteVapor for those and you cannot use the LR ones on slim 510. I find I can get the most use (1-2 weeks or more) out of a Boge carto with thinner clearer juices. I like to use 80pg/20vg and since cartos are somewhere between difficult and impossible to clean and dry, I only put juices I like in cartos. I use a drip tip to test juices on a manual battery w/ atomizer. Any juices that are not liked can often be saved by mixing with a good tobacco juice or a good vanilla juice or any flavor that is a good flavor blend.

And NoSmokeVA.com has a cigarette-pack look PCC (charging case) in the shape of a cigarette pack.

Things to be aware of -

It is good to have extra charging cables so more than one battery can be charged at once at home and charging cables for work are good. I use 4-port 2amp USB to AC adapters but you can also use a PC's motherboard USB ports for charging batteries. I also find it very helpful to have a 3rd battery - I leave my ecig set up all night while the other two batteries charge. With a cartomizer on it that means it is ready to vape when I get up - no fighting with atty+cart trying to get that first drag. When I go to work I take the 2 charged batteries with me and put the overnight one on the charger. My late-night and overnight battery is a Joye 510 mega xl manual.

short battery life. 100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping. Joye 510 is 180mah. The much longer Joye 510 mega xl is 280mah (I use mega xl manual battery at home and when out I use the short ones. I have charging cables at home and at work, and use the NoSmokeVA PCC when out as well as a charged Riva 510 battery is an extra backup)

And 510 (like all decent slim ecigs) is slightly thicker than a real cigarette (it's about 9.2mm diameter). But the plus side is those cartomizers! 510 is the most popular threading by far so it has nice cartomizers available.

And re atomizers - they usually arrive with nasty tasting primer on them. It will be necessary to get that off by blowing out, * priming well with juice, waiting, vape it off w/o inhaling, blow out, and repeat from * until it tastes OK.

The Intellicig evo looks a lot like a real cig, though is longer and heavier. They perform like crap and their standard ECOpure juice is horrible... But otherwise knock yourself out! J/k

For something the weight and size of a real cig, you'll be hard pressed to beat SKYcig (BLU in the states) they pretty much weigh and feel the same. Maybe just lay down the £40 on a starter kit for her as a gift or whatever and after a while she'll not care if it looks and feels like a analogue so much and then move on to a better all round ecig after 2 weeks / a month. My two cents anyway.

The only reason I can see someone recommending a BLU or a regular joye 510 over a new style Bloog/Volt 808 kit, is that they haven't yet tried one.

Facts. They will not activate from noise, wind, vibration or anything else other then taking a drag. They do not require a primer puff or any other such nonsense. The bloogs come in manual now, if juice leaking is a concern. The batteries are actually quite good, provided you keep them in rotation or use a pcc. there are lots of places to buy empty or prefilled cartos, and the new horizontal coil cartos perform wonderfully, both on the 808's, and on pretty much any mod using a 510-808 adapter. They are regulated now at 3.6v, which is more then an ego, and don't deteriorate over the length of the charge.

Don't let the price worry you, it's actually come down quite a bit, there's always some sort of promotion going on, and in reality you get what you pay for, and compared to smoking the cost is a joke. I have what is considered to be one of the best VV mods on the market, and still enjoy my bloogs daily, so don't streess about these people sayin you'll grow out of it fast. The real goal is to quit smoking, and IMHO, and based on all the things my friends and I have tried since I started, if I had to do It all over again I would have still started with the bloog kit.

Sorry for the rant, I just can't believe some of the things people say on here sometimes..

E9 aka KR808D-2 is not a good suggestion. All of the 3rd party accessory support is for KR808D-1 - the whole variety of carto blank types including CE2's are for KR808D-1.

I vape both KR808D-1 w/ Vapor4Life cartos and manual 510 and 510 mega xl (same charge as standard KR808D-1) w/ Boge cartos and I get better life out of the Boge cartos and a moister more pleasant drag, typically with more vapor out of the same juice. And the manual 510 is totally sealed metal on the threaded end. The KR8 at 3.7v (vs 510's 3.4) has a hotter hit so it is is stronger hit - if someone wants a stronger hit it's a good choice. I enjoy both, I vape both.

Hi!
Just here to leave my 2 cents...
Have you seen the m602c from smoore?
Rhey are pretty decent and it's a pretty good start.
DOn't have one but i tried one form a friend and i can say that mimics analogs pretty well although my first choice was an eGo simply because i was willing to cut all my relations with those analog sticks (don't wanna say bad words while describing)

My recommendation is a Riva, I love it! Its funny how alot of us went from wanting a cigarette look alike to carrying around devices that look like pipe bombs. Its alot to absorb to begin with, but there are tons of options, and something for everyone. There is beauty in the distraction that the Vape obsession creates. Best of luck to you both... keep us posted.

Good luck!

Actually he was pretty specific in what he was asking for. His wife will only try a pv if it looks like a cig. Meaning tan carto, white battery. I'm assuming mini, automatic.

That's why he was getting some of the suggestions he's getting. My Mom was the same way, so that's what I looked for and got her. She didn't stay with it long but it got her vaping. Then she realized she wanted something with a little more power, and longer battery, etc. She had to go through that transition herself. It took her 4 kits to get there, but hay, she's not smoking.

I wouldn't spend a huge amount if I were him, because we don't know if she's really motivated to try vaping at all or if she's just trying to appease others. That's why I posted the link for a $20 510.

Will she get frustrated recharging often?
Eventually, absolutely. Even with two batteries I simply got fed up with my 510 and have been thoroughly enjoying my new Roughstack v2. I wish I would have started on that to be honest. (Though, to be fair, once I have my Monkeyboxx VV, I'll say the exact same thing..)

Truth is, whatever WORKS. If it helps you NOT SMOKE analog cigs, then it's a godsend. Start with 18mg liquids and work down from there. I personally don't mind my addiction now that I feel it's at least safer and I plan on enjoying it as much and long as I feel like. Beautiful when you know where you are with your addiction!

All good points! I would never say dormouse is wrong, as Ive seen his posts and know he's quite wise. Unfortunately as far as I know, none of the quality cartomizers come in real filter color, so a white on white may be the closest thing for now. Usually when I hear looks like a cig, I'm thinking size and performance first, and colors etc second. As for the price, you can order a couple batts, a wall charger and a pack or two of cartos for less then $50 if you avoid the starter kit pricing. Then if she loves it, you can just buy a pcc and other goodies after the fact! If not, he is not out much, and could probably use them himself.

Everyone has valid points, I just have recent experience being a noob and trying to wade through all the options, and feel strongly that something like the bloog will work great, and still be a quality unit if and when she moves to something bigger. Hard to stealth vape a mod lol, so having a small kit IMO is never a bad thing even after you're over the need for it to look real!

Kr808d-1 auto, standard length, several batteries plus a pcc if she is on the go a lot, plus prefilled cartos.

We quickly forget that for a brand new person, working in their comfort zone, making things easy, is important.

Personally I use a vv mod, diy all my liquid, and tailpipe cartos. I "know better" but sure as heck would not urge my gear on a brand new person looking for simple and cig form factor.

I started with 808, used riva 510 several months, now use the mod. For cig form factor, ease of use, and a huge variety of prefilled cartomizers, the kr808d-1 (or new generation 808 like the volt) are super.

Vapor4life (their vaporking are all 808), nhaler, vaporsetc are a few good vendors selling 808 gear.

For a fairly heavy smoker riva or ego is indeed nice, bigger battery, but they sure do not look like cigs and adding manual operation plus a really limited selection of prefilled cartos makes a steeper learning curve.

Sometimes simpler is more important than better.

Yea, but I bet you never walked around in 5 inch heels that killed your feet but looked great! Sometimes our priorities are slightly different. You guys don't have to understand it, just roll with it.
