Will 2014 be the year big tobacco takes over the ecigarette industry?

Recently I read an article mentioning that njoy would be running a super bowl commercial. This will definitely help spread the word about ecigs...at least for them! Do you think big tobacco will make TAKE OVER the ecigarette market this year or do you think it's the year of the mods?

If I watch the superbowl this year and the Njoy commercial comes on...I will blow a big ol' cloud off my MVP2 and laugh and laugh and laugh :D

Everyone that quits starts with a cigalike but ends up going to a big battery powerhouse...usually with a stop between with an eGo (some stay with eGo's but go something in VV)...

Nah. Njoy and Blu simply don't work for a lot of people. I'd say most, but I don't have the numbers to back that up. BT has a LOT of work to do to start selling products that would even begin to compete with what we have - once their customers find out what's really out there, they're not customers anymore. They need to up their game significantly to even begin to take over - or have our stuff banned.

It might be the Year Of The Ecig, though. They are definitely on people's radar now, thanks to the idiots in NYC, and more and more people are discovering them.

i think i still have some Njoy carts around here... i owned one not sure what i did with it. also had a blu kit i used both for about a month well still mostly smoking analogs. picked up a JoyeTech 510 tank kit. kicked the analog habit with that. so NJoy and Blu can be the gateway for people to other better preforming PVs.
1.5 years later im using an 18650 sub-ohm rig.
been mixing my own e-liquid for about 1.3 years, because i dont trust most vendors and i highly doubt they have a PHD chemist on staff (i do).

I don't trust Big Tobacco to not put nasty stuff into juice, like they do cigarettes, to make you want more. Even if Camel put out a ProTank-esque device with good batteries, and tasted exactly like a Camel, and was at a competitive price point, I still would be leery of buying anything they sell.

That's a danger for them, getting into ecigs and having any marketing that might even HINT that cigarettes are bad for you, and ecigs are better. That's a can of worms they DON'T want opened. They are probably fully aware of that, which is why Blu is focusing on the social and "coolness" factor with their products.

Big Tobacco is losing money. The government is losing tax revenue. Big tobacco makes massive contributions to politicians. Politicians are prostitutes. Prostitutes want money so they sell their butts (so to speak). Big tobacco will pay for the .... in order to gain control of the delivery devices. Yes - I see the government in one form or another handing control over to Big Tobacco in return for virtually unlimited ....-revenue-sharing. That's just the delivery devices. The Pharmacy companies? They get control of the "drug" ....... "to save the chillun'"!

Crooks - one and all.

let's be honest, big battery mods aren't exactly at every 7-Eleven, Texaco and Sunoco across the nation. but cigalikes are... and blu got exposure to millions daily just at six flags great adventure this summer by sponsoring their smoking sections. nevermind all the other venues and media they've exploited for their commercial ventures.

methinks it's big bad mod'da jombas that have the catching up to do and that big tobacco is trying to corner the readily available market.

convenience is king in these times. who sells more burgers, mcdonalds or little suzy's corner slammin' juicy big burger joint?

why? they're everywhere. their commercials ran on every network for decades. their name is familiar and their placement is convenient.

you have to go looking for big battery mods.

we, the serious vapers are in the minority, i'm sure.

BT is still obsessed with cigalikes. Once they use their big bucks to perfect a gas-station ego setup, they're in like Flynn.

i'll buy that for a dollar.

they're going to milk the cash cow until the cows come home. then they'll market "the next big thing". likely won't be until they see revenue of their current products dropping or not reaching their potential though.

Depends. If they figure out how to make a well performing cigalike AND with a good flavor they might have a lot of success with the new converts. Also if they can make you have a "craving" for their product they'll also have returning customers...sort of like McDonalds. That's the part that has me worried.

I see mods as falling into line where pipes are now where tobacco is concerned. People still like to use pipes but it's a certain type smoker that uses them. I think there will be the type that use mods & the type that use cigalikes, provided cigalikes improve. If they don't I think the "cigalike" category will fall to the ego/twist., etc. users.

But yea, I do think BT is going to play more of a role this year. How much more is the question.

I actually don't have a problem with BT taking the convenience store/gas station market - if they can mass produce a disposable product with the same quality (or better) as an Njoy King and sell it at a sane price then I could see myself buying one from time-to-time - especially if my PV dies whilst I'm out or I'm waiting on a vapemail for some more liquid.

Won't stop me from buying mods and mixing my own e-liquids but consumer choice is good and if they can produce a gateway product that gets smokers vaping then I'm all for it. Of course, I'd prefer to see the original pioneers finding success in that marketplace but they're going to have an uphill battle competing with BT's economies of scale and distribution.
