That's how I updated mine... not on purpose, though - I just hadn't put the batteries in and hooked it up to the computer not really thinking about it, and it worked.Oddly I was able to update mine with no batteries in the unit.
Well maybe I'll try with batteries out. I used that cable that came with the mod. I guess I can try another one
I will try some other cables tonight after work if gta5 doesn't call my name
maybe try a different usb cable? I read today some won't work for updating data.... dunno but, that's what I read
Very likely the cable.....could be a charge only cable or the data line is messed up somehow....i used my android phone cable to update mine, worked fine

If there are any vapers here with this mod and still vape old school with mouth to lung style vapes how do you guys get along with temp mode? I'm still a mouth to lunger after 4+ years and can't seem to get a decent vape at all in temp mode with ni200. Doesn't seem to matter how high or low I set the temp or the wattage it immediately goes to temp protect gives me virtually nothing for a vape. If I open the airflow all the way and take decent inhales it works great. I can put the same tank back on my m class or dna 40 mods and get a perfect vape with mouth to lung no problem set at 400. Wicking is definitely not the issue and I get the same behavior with drippers using my normal vape style. Edit: I see part of the problem is this thing fires way low. At least testing in kanthal mode it does. Seems to be a consistent 0.6V low then what ever voltage it should be for the given wattage setting making it really inaccurate at low settings. I wonder if that is something off with the 1.7 firmware since all the numbers I see for the 1.3 firmware look good.

Did you have to load any drivers or just plug it in and run the download?
I wish I could help. I'm vaping ni200 on my DNA version and RX and its almost impossible to tell the difference. Both Vape beautifully.

I just downloaded the firmware from wismec site plug the cable into the rx200 then into my PC, it installed a USB generic driver not device specific I unrar'd the firmware went into the folder clicked on the application and then update I had to choose the .bin file there were two in the folder one for the rx200 and one for some presia thing I chose the rx200 and clicked update again and it was done. As for mtl I'm the same but I'm using stainless steel and getting a great vape off it although I had to set my temp higher then I have it on the xcube2.
Just downloaded the update and ran it....was pretty simple actually

Yeah I tried that. It acts like it can't see the mod. I'm gonna try again this morning with another cable
I'll try mine in a few minutes but dies it make a difference if it has an aromamizer on top
Mine works Ok. Try clicking a little faster. When I was clicking like you mine would not change either
And I got my software to update finally. I just went to a different computer and used the factory cable
Mine seems a bit temperamental as well, mine you can sometimes change from temperature modes to voltage without an atty attached, but sometimes it just refuses to do this.
I have found that after attaching an atty to the mod it will then decide to change with the three clicks.
