They have been doing it for years. joyetech also has developed a reputation recently of scratched and dented mods emerging from their factory lines brand new in shrink wrapped boxes. The Cuboid thread was full of complaints along these lines from the beginning. I guess when they crank them out as fast and cheap as they do some "minor" (in their view) damage / QC issues are bound to "slip" through.

Also think joyetech will sell off lots of known QC failure mods at discount prices to less reputable retailers rather than waste time refurbishing them knowing they will just void the warranty under the Not an Authorized Vendor Policy.

Yep. That's an impact mark and I'd bet it happened before it was boxed up in the factory. The finish on the red front and back covers of my RX200 have some flaws as well, including a tiny unfinished bit on the lower edge of the back cover.

They're building these as quickly as possible, and some corners are apparently being cut. Thankfully the design is sound, (apart from the slightly shallow 510 threading), but I guess if the mod functions and is mostly finished correctly, that's passing Joyetech QC.

Still, we're pretty lucky. It wasn't that long ago that "Made in China" was synonymous with "complete garbage". Factory "blemished" or not, the RX200 is a hell of a lot of mod for ~$40.

Hey guys, my rx200 just arrived now. For today I can't use it cause I don't have 3 batteries but I wanted to ask you something. This is just out of the box. Is it normal? Is it just the paint cracking or this took a real hit? Thanks

Did the foam lined box show any sign of damage? if not you have been sold a damaged item prior to packing...That's just not on and as I see it is not a warranty issue as the item has been unused by you, I would contact Wismec as I don't think they would be too happy about the condition it was sold in. Bad luck mate but I feel sure Wismec will want to help with
this, best of luck!

There was no foam. Was just the grey box in a grey plastic bag.

Should have arrived in a grey box marked Wismec Reuleaux Rx 200 unit should have been protected in box by a black foam insert, under this would be instruction book and usb cable, back side of box more information + important serial number and scratch check box.
Seems you have been badly ripped off with a secondhand unit or worse.

Sure. It looks to me as though the plates weren't quite facing the sprayer properly, or were rushed through, or both. Here are pics of the flaws in the finish:

Only that unfinished corner in the first pic is easy to notice with the back plate in place. The other flaws are either covered up when the mod's assembled, or tough to spot unless you're looking for them.

It does kind of suck that they didn't get it quite right in the factory, but since the device works just fine and doesn't have a crooked screen, wonky buttons, or any functional problems, I'm not going to return it.

For $40, I'm very pleased overall. However, if the RX200 were more expensive; having to touch up the finish myself, (and this red paint's not an easy match), or live with factory blemishes would definitely annoy me.

Do you have any sources for this. Sounds quite unlikely to me.

I was on a site less than a week ago that mentioned they have returned defective Joyetech mods back to Joyetech and they have never heard back from them. So they no longer return them to Joyetech, but just eat the cost instead. Now I wish I remembered what site it was.

No I do not, however It would also sound unlikely that Joyetech would ship a mod in the condition andreidumitrescu received his rather than just slap a different faceplate on it and ship it as a new one, yet that is how it was received by him. It is complete supposition that Joyetech would sell off QC units, damaged parts, and returned warranty units as "Factory Seconds" in discounted wholesale salvage lots rather than waste time refurbishing them and a disreputable retailer might sell them as new.

It is however a very common practice in the clothing and manufacturing industries in general to do just that. Many people in this world make a very good living buying up these salvage lots and refurbishing the products for resale on Ebay, in classifieds, Craigslist, or Flea markets. It is however illegal to sell these products as new.

Most likely, the damaged unit received by andreidumitrescu was a warranty return that was repackaged and resold as new by a disreputable retailer however, these salvage lot sales by manufacturers do exist in most industries on a regular basis and it is not that hard to believe Joyetech might consider employing the same practice in one form r another to control costs.

I think even Samsung and Apple are doing this. But as long as they approved the return and the third party store was ok with it i am very ok with them now. One mention is that this is not my first order from them and the ones before ware just perfect.
Thanks for the replys guys. Can't wait to join this topic with a good rx200 haha. See u all in 10 days :)
