Not long at all, after about a day I was getting a little bit of sticking, couple more and it's to the point of sticking / continually firing, I've got the battery out of it until I can work out what the problem is. A shame because everything else seems awesome on this mod

Ok, thank you. That is EXACTLY what happened with mine. 2 days into it, and boom, sticky button.

OK, fixed it, and the good news is it's fairly easy. The problem is the button and hole sizes, I guess manufacturing variances cause some of them, like mine, to be too tight of a fit. There's only nanometers in it, one run around the hole with a round file and the button now moves freely.

To get to it I removed the 3 x 5/64 allen head screws from the bottom plate, these are really nice and I enjoyed removing them. Behind the screen toward the front (the button side) of the mod there is a single allen head screw, this holds the button assembly in, I don't know the size but it's the same as the one in the atty plate so you'll all have the little wrench.

After removing this you'll be able to pull the button assembly just far enough to remove the 4 small phillips screws holding it together, keep in mind the usb board is also attached, make sure you don't get the micro usb port snagged in its hole. With those screws off the front button plate and buttons will free themselves.

I used a round file to trim the hole so slightly it was not visible to the eye, then reversed the procedure to put it all back together. Because of the short length of the button assembly wires it's a bit fiddly to get the screws in while holding everything in place, I spent the most time trying to get those 4 phillips screws back in, they weren't that fun. 10 - 20 min job though I'd say.

Button is now working perfectly

Welp. Mine is now on its way to the East Coast to be joined with its sibling, then they will both make a trip back to the Holy Land. That is unless the DPL on the receiving end wants to try this fix......

Yeah, I didn't THINK so! :D

We don't mod. Nuh uh. Nothing. We use the allen wrenches for letter openers. Little itsy bitsy teeny tiny letters.

ack...not good to hear about these issues...if it is one thing I hate it in a mod is the risc of autofire...that could lead to serious issues if you're not around when it does so.

Good there is a fix, but I am not to keen to take a brand new $300+ mod (including shipping and import tax)apart.....

I hope they caught it and fixed it in the next batch......but I'll have to wait and see when I get mine....still not shipped, and with transport and customs hold up it will be a while yet :(

Still want it badly though :)

drugarth, I sincerely hope that these are somewhat isolated cases and yours will be perfection. Because, when it IS working, it IS perfection!

Apologies for my recent silence, but I'm currently working through a number of issues with Mini (Kat's sticky button being one of them*), and I'd like to see where everything lands before offering up comments or opinions.

As things stand now, they've been helpful and cooperative. Being smack in the middle of their holiest holiday period, I want to be patient, respectful, and reasonable. I expect it might be a couple of weeks before everything is fully resolved.

I feel bad for everyone else having issues. I know the overwhelming disappointment, and it's not fun.

And yes, when it's working properly it is truly wonderful.

* "Kat's sticky button... "??? :lol::blink::laugh:

Sorry, Kat. You know that I'm only about twelve-years old, in Man Years.

Pursuant to this, I must admit that one of the reasons I/we always buy higher-end gear is to avoid such scenarios. But fault being my own here, in that I did not follow my own rule of WAITING until something's been out for a while, before jumping to order it. As previously stated, I waited 11 months before ordering the Billet Box (that I salivated over the entire time).

Kat, on the other hand, waited about 20 minutes to order (the first of) her BB's. :D

I have NO DOUBT that Mini will work out all the issues, and subsequent batches will be perfect. The risks of early adoption (in pretty much all walks of life) remain constant.

If all works out, she and I will be unwrapping new & perfect Xvo's before Christmas. Maybe even before Halloween, but THIS time I'm putting my Patience Cap back on.

And I guess that I should admit here to impulsively purchasing one replacement, with (yukky!) brass buttons, that I ordered before I knew Kat's was going to take a button-dive out of commission. I feel guilty about that, and am fighting off the urge to ship it west. Either that, or take it out offline until we both have one. We sold stuff, saved together, and WAITED together to get these, and having only one in play isn't sitting particularly well with me right now.

Needless to say, some day down the line, I hope to be selling the (yukky!) brass-buttoned one. Hopefully it doesn't suffer the same sticky-button-fate as some others. We'll know soon enough. Then, if all remains well, maybe it will indeed take a western-flight...

@DPLongo22 : you did mention multiple issues....so there is more than just the sticky buttons? Would you care to elaborate on that? Or do you prefer to wait and see how Chels will handle it? (I would understand that for sure, give someone a chance to correct issues before airing all sorts of complaints is recommendable). But it is a bit off a dissapointment after such a long wait.......I feel for you, Kat and others affected....:(

I would expect excellent QC with such expensive items, but apperantly something slipped through...

With my order also something strange seems to be happening....it was in "preparation for shipping" for a week and now reverted back to "accepted for shipping" (it's first status), and more than the suggested 2 weeks have passed....thinking about dropping them an email....

This is disheartening to read of all of the problems everyone is having. :(
I have had zero issues except for the atty lock (which I guess is actually a bonus to some). On an unrelated note, I might have to sell mine (blue with brass buttons), as I need some $ to fund my dream fly-fishing trip to Alaska.

Perhaps someone could! Not me though. The post wiggles as I try to trap the wire ending up in a sadly deformed leg - especially with ni200. I have what has been diagnosed as "benign resting tremors" which causes shaky hands - I have a difficult enough time building RBAs without worrying about wobbly posts.

Oh Longo, give yourself a dab of credit here. You ACT like you're at LEAST 13 years old.

There is always a risk in early adoption, but there's also the chance that things go swimmingly. I do hope that these cases of malfunction are not the norm, and I suspect that they are not. I'm certainly pleased that Mini e-cig is acting quickly to take care of our issues. Crossing fingers for a quick turn around! Halloween works. I shall get my orange tank and scary faced drip tip at the ready.

You look silly in that cap.

Nononononono, I will not accept a shipment from the East containing another Xvo if it's got brass buttons. You've got a lot of brass buttons even suggesting that you'd give it up!

Just enjoy it for both of us. I'll have mine "soon" enuf.

dru, mine had the button issue. DPL's had a lack of connection issue, the source of which remains to be diagnosed.

I can tell you with all assurance that neither DPL nor I are meaning to "air complaints". These posts are for information value only, and because we want you guys to cheerlead us while we wait for our better-than-new mods to come home. ;)

I do think an email to them is a good idea regarding the shipping of your order.

So you are a fully developed adult male, shall I alert the media? o_O

Ooh by no means am I trying to say you are complaining! I think you and dplong are handeling it quite well and decent, my compliments  I am not sure if I could have managed that after such a long wait....

And I sure get that the meaning of sharing these issues is to inform us, and it is hugely appreciated....!!

I did send them a mail concerning my order...we'll see..not that I'm impatient..LOL...I want this beauty :)

Stop making fun of my kap, Kat!

Confirming what Kat already said, yes, MINI has been marvelous about everything, and quite supportive. Would we have liked both to work perfectly, first time out? Of course we would have.

But neither of us has a single regret, and we're both confident that whatever we receive back, be it replaced units or repaired ones, will have been tested well beyond the norm, and will serve us well for a very long time.

And brass notwithstanding, that which as been in my hand these past couple/few days is more than just a bit enjoyable.

And it will be yours simply for the asking, KD. You know that.

shaky hands - I have a difficult enough time building RBAs without worrying about wobbly posts.

I hope you get it sorted, it is a lovely atty. I don't think one is enough for me.

Very sweet, now if I change my name to KD. :)

I don't bling.
