Update on the Silicone Straw method. This is working great and is easy to make. I cut a straw (5mm dia) to 18mm in length. Put some GE 100% Silicone Sealant in one end about 2mm or 1/8' deep. Smeared some around the outside of the straw at the atty end. Let it dry ..............Take a safety pin and poke several holes in the end. Cut a couple of "V"'s in the other end of the straw. Fill up the cart and slide the whole thing in, gently squeezing the end to an oval shape so that it seats all the way in.
This is working very well BUT, I still have to see if it empties the cart and also how easy/hard it is to refill. Also I need to see how durable this is. Other methods being discussed here look like they would last longer.
Updates at 6. :)

Update on making a miniature version of the cart cap that would rest on the ledges and not need a straw. Well I just learned a valuable lesson. Even though it LOOKS like it's cured, it's not cured in the middle of the mold! I ruined it so I'm starting over on this. I'm now baking it to see if it will cure more quickly. :-x

Old silicone/RTV trick.. mix a little water with it if you want it to cure quicker. Or expose it to high humidity (take it with you for a shower?? ;-) ).
Now that would be too easy. I need to try at least fifteen other ways that don't work before I actually listen to someone who knows what they're talking about.

I went today and bought some silcone ear plugs to make my 801 filler mod. So far it is working perfect. Just take the ear plug lay in on the cart and mold it. Cut with my hand and make a hole with my Eco liquid bottle from litecig and done. Nice seal. Take the dip of the bottle and make hole.

I gotta buy something to do this. Ear plugs really caught my attention. I don't use ear plugs but know there is a zillion types out there. Any chance you posting a link to show the type you bought.

Wow!!! Victory at last. After several attempts, using many different silicone types, i.e. spatula (most were too thick) went back to a cap and finally got it right. So far no drips and no flooding vaping very well. I must say all of the inventive mods here are fantastic and I thank each and everyone of you for your contributions. I have no creativity or mechanical ability so I really appreciate your efforts. Scottyballs, Kristen, Eclipse and every other modder THANK YOU

I also found the spatula to be too thick...but then I pulled out my trusty utility knife with a nice new blade (cleaned to remove any oil) and cut the spatula in half (as far as thickness goes)...now it is just a tad thicker than the RTV that the cap is...the problem I am having is cutting the X or the + and not totally butchering the piece...

When I get home, I am going to try the ARCH techique....it seems I spend my afternoons after work, working on some sort of mod! LOL

I finally got some PTB this weekend, then we started talking about this the next day! LOL *Dam the luck, but hey, I got some good tea* :D

I think that the arch may have some merit as long as the atty doesn't just force the plug off the ledges...I do believe that this is the material *the grail as it were*, if we can just find the perfect way to make them every single time...that is the true test.

I don't have any blunt needles, but I imagine that would make a great hole for this too....

No leakage so far. I took my battery off and shook the atomizer with cart around a bit and no leaks there.

I did it almost exactly the way the first post explains. I held the cap on the empty cart tightly and very carefully cut out the plug with an exacto knife. I had to do a tiny bit of trimming with tiny nail scissors to get it perfect. I also used an extra wide McDonald's straw which holds the edges pretty perfectly in place. I cut an X shape rather than a circle or hole.

Even though my carts came in the same pack, I had two very different kinds of caps to play with. One was very flimsy and nearly worthless, but the other was thicker and kept it shape perfectly.

I gotta say, this mod kept me from getting rid of my 801 completely. :)

Having no luck at all with my 401 with this mod. It's just too tiny to be able to do this kind of work with, floods too easy. Anybody else having any luck with a 401?

i just cutted approx. 1.2mm of 401 cap end with sharp knife (the end with a hole in center) to make a ring, put a inner cart in top of it, cut ecess diameter off, put suppot straw inside cart, silicone ring on top, dripped full cart, put an atty on, still vaping this... great.

the trick is to have the hole perfectly sealed with bridge to not let zhe juice leak on sides, mine cap is in line with cart end (not pushed down), and when i put cart on atty, it does not goes all way in, theres little gap between cart end and outside atty rim so i know it pushes the plug with certain pressure
best to use somewhat tight cart that not slips easily... hope this helps, i´m very happywith this mod so far... will do further heavy testing

to rejoice: this is how iv been doing it with my 801's and works great.

coat the end of the cart just the tip in glue that u deam safe. i use superglue as i don't really care if it gets in to me because when it is dry its hard to get in to the juice.

after that then slip the cap over the cart let it dry. when it is dry cut around the outside and remove the lip poak a hole right in the middle. 1 hole has been working good for me as on this lets call it the drum mod the atty bridge pushed up on the silicone making the hole bigger and when your done or going to sleep you can take the cart out and it will not leak.
Hey cod man, this is working nice. Silly cone and crazy glue don't usually get along, the first one peeled off, the second one is holding for now while my mould sets up.

I'm hoping one of these set ups will eliminate or reduce the amount of liquid that gathers on the outside of the cart. The way I have it now I'm still getting globs of liquid down the sides, and it hurts me dearly to have to lick it off and spit it back in the cart.

ha that's funny ya i don't get nearly as much side condensation is what i call it but i use mods manly now with a button and i try to suck out all the vapor that is left in the atty after each drag.

now i cant say my way is perfect but it is dam close for the 801/ i did have some leaking ( my carts all have the flimsy caps ) and i don't know if they tore but im gonna try a few diferant methods.

also any one tell me who makes the good caps for the 801 i need to order more carts.

Not sure if it was missed or if I did not make my point clear earlier for those with issues cutting the slits. Get some roll pins in the diameter of the hole you wish to make and use them as a punch. They are hollow metal tubes that are pretty strong and will cut a very neat and clean hole exactly where you want it and can be found at most hardware stores very cheap.

Well the "Straw with Silicone Plug" idea died a quick death tonight when I found out that silicone won't stick the the plastic straw! It just comes right on out! I am now using a molded plug on top of a supporting straw. So far so good.
Pete, looks like you're the first up with the moulded plug, could you elaborate a little more on the plug itself, thickness and whatnot?

I wish I had a camera but mine is dead. I'll elaboarte but it's not really working well. It looks perfect and should be working!! I simply used the Silicone Sealer and put some into the end of a cart. When it was set, I took it out and sliced it to a thickness about the same as a cart cap. The benefit of doing it this way, I thought, was that it is a perfect fit when used with a straw to support it. If I push tweezers into the center I can see the juice come through. It just doesn't seem to feed my atty. Like every other cart mod I've tried, it seems, for me at least, to be hit and miss. My thinking is that we need to find a way to make something that is easy to duplicate and works every time. I think silicone is the answer but it's not repeatable enough. We'll get it right, just not tonight. :)
